There's a drive up liquor store where i grew up. They really know how to drink there.

edit for top.

Anders is concerned on the lack of wine...

@Sarah - I have a love/hate relationship with it. I actually think I'm better for it... even though it's made me miserable. XD The constant eye rolling has definitely made me appreciate sarcasm to say the least.

@ Wedger- I have been to one of those in Alabama. They stapled the bag shut, so that we could prove we hadn't imbibed any of our purchases. :D

@Cave Wow, the concept of having a bible belt in a country makes me shiver. I think I'm allergic to religion. And dry county? Man, our last prime minister wanted to move the drinking age to 21 rather than 18. The outrage could be heard as far as New Zealand. As a friend of mine once said, "He may as well ****** on the Australian flag."

So, the relatives came HERE rather than me going over THERE and it was drawn out and miserable. BUT the grandmother gave me an EXCELLENT little vignette that I'm now going to use in a sequel to my WWI Anders fic. Hooray! Sometimes it's worth listening to old windbags. If only she would talk about interesting things all the time instead of mentioning them in passing in the middle of a story about her bathroom door jam.

Our drinking age is 21. As a result, when I was in college (well, as a minor.  not, you know, now.) it was easier to obtain illegal drugs than alcohol.
Now that's logic!

(and someone has been posting like mad to peopleofthedas. Like, eight posts in one day. And it's driving me nuts since some have ENORMOUS images they didn't put behind a cut, but I don't know if I should say anything.)

And hey, new Anders on DA

@Miri - It's a little crazy. I personally love religions as a subject of study, but in practice I just kind of want my tri-monthly candy/present. XD

RE: relatives

Yeah, I know what you mean. It's like, "And my new bathtub came, but then we had to caulk it, and measure some more. Then it all but killed me like your great uncle all but killed Hitler. Caulking a bathtub is super serious. You've got to make sure you have the clear caulk.... etc., so forth, and so on."

@Lupus - That's always awkward. B/c you don't want to seem rude, but still it needs to stop.

One of my oldest friends had a good point about drinking. He went off to get his learners drivers license on his 15th birthday and came back saying "I am by law not permitted to smoke cigarettes or drink alcohol, two things that would do damage to MYSELF, however I AM allowed to get behind the wheel of something that can kill other people."

@Cave That's PRECISELY what it was like, except her story involved men with NO PANTS. I mean, this is my GRANDMOTHER and YES my grandfather fought in Korea and I know some pretty wacky **** happened there, but NO PANTS? Come on!

My grandfather's war stories mostly involved Jesus.
My ex-husband's father was in Vietnam. His war stories were... well, let's just say that a character in a well-known movie about Vietnam was based on him.
(for serious. talk about intimidating.)

His stories involved a lot of head shots and/or prostitutes.

And speaking of war and drinking... you can serve in the US military before you can drink.  That boggles my mind.  If I was getting sent to war I'd NEED a drink!

@Miri - I think any story that involves someone not having pants on deserves more than a mention.

@Lupus - I remember thinking when I turned 18 that I could carry around an M-16, but not a beer. How does that work?

@Lupus I was going to write that I was intrigued by the idea of head shots and prostitutes being in the same story, but then I remembered it was Vietnam and suddenly don't want to know.

I will not relate the story Oma told because you'll get it in an Anders story, and no-panted men are always better when one of them is Anders.

And I'm going to have to move it from WWI to Korea, despite loving my Gallipoli-medic Anders, because there's no way NoPants works in a French setting. The French probably think it's mandatory.

@Cave sent me a preview of my (almost certainly) no-panted Alistair earlier. I believe "no pants for all!" should be the cry of the day.

And it's Thursday tomorrow! For me any way. It's Sabreene's turn, but did she say she wanted to be taken off the list? I know someone did... it's Gala's after that.

No, she didn't. The list is up to date. I haven't seen her on for a bit, though.

@Cave, I love your sober picture :)

Poor Anders :)

I hope Sabreene will show up, my prompt will be boring and you will think I'm mad. I must think of something else!

I'll be whining again: ATM has just stolen my money! Now I will have to go to bank and hope that they can somehow check that the transaction went wrong and I will have my money back. Of course, I don't believe it, because there's no justice in that country and miracles only happen when money are not involved.  I hate this ATM! I want to burn the damned thing! RAGE!!!

Ok, whining mode off. I feel better already. :innocent:

Ouch! I hate using the ATMs outside my bank. Actually, I just hate cash these days. Debit card all the way. Good luck, Gala. I hope it gets worked out by the bank.

And... the video linked in this thread has a reveal of male!Hawke's voice. No Greg Ellis, but still rather nice.

And second from the right...

Yea I thought it was Anders too. That would be awesome.

And I am kind of worried about romance options now. I mean, I don't want to romance Isabela. Certainly not Aveline. Is that all the females we get?

@kop: If you look at the dragon logo there are a LOT of silhouettes on there. I suspect there will be a much larger party than in Origins.

And... could this finally mean we get proper Anders romance?

But I wonder if I have to get the Anders-lives, phylactery-destroyed, leaves-Wardens epilogue in Awakening to get him in DA2...
(I so need to finish AOA before this comes out.)

And if it isn't Anders, well... I can live with his clone on the team. Especially if they bring back Greg Ellis.

@KoP

I think there should be at least one more female companion revealed later. Now I'm just praying that Isabela is bisexual and they don't ignore the fact that she did sleep with women in Origins.

So, could Anders be an actual companion? Would it conflict with the Origins/Awakening timeline? I suppose he could join in after we're a few years into the story. I would love it if he was indeed a companion.
