Yeah, but DA2 spans a decade. Two months in game time would be, what, one side mission?
If he's in the game he's sticking on my team!
(and I totally just preordered on amazon. I'm not waiting for Steam only to find out it's sold out elsewhere.)

Top of page speculative!Anders

(now... how to mentally close off Anders/Maggie in my head so I can write Anders/lady!Hawke later on... And why do I suddenly fear that any lady!Hawk I write will slowly morph into a brash mage suffering from histrionic personality disorder?)

Also... who wants to bet, if he is on the team and romanceable, he'll play for both teams?  Call it a hunch.

*cries over the lack of DA2 on Steam*

Since I'm also region locked out of all the places that sell it, I'm gonna have a friend who lives in the US buy it for me with my account. For which site... I don't know yet.

Stupid EA.

If Anders really is in DA2, I would love it if you could have him in the party when you meet Drunkenstair.

And... could this finally mean we get proper Anders romance?

But I wonder if I have to get the Anders-lives, phylactery-destroyed, leaves-Wardens epilogue in Awakening to get him in DA2...

If he's only a cameo, it's possible that it is epilogue dependent (much like speculation on Alistair's appearance seems to  indicate that it's more likely to be for Drunken Wandering Alistair). However, seeing how fast and loose they played with the Origins epilogues when Awakening came out, I would not be surprised if they ignored the Awakening epilogues completely in order to include one of the Awakening companions as a companion in DA2.

I get the impression that companions will be met then RE met later - so for example you help Isabela with something (which could very well be during the Blight considering the timeline) and she comes back ten years later for the enormous confrontation at the end. Considering Anders is there with Isabela and considering its implied they know each other perhaps he's there with her during the Blight? His companion bit could be where he gets recaptured by the Templars! And then he can come back at the end for the big confrontation!

That's my take on it and I'm sticking to it.

Omg - I am trying to refrain from jumping up at my desk at work. That HAS to be Anders, right? The hair, the stubble, the fancy robes...

Oh excitement!!!

If there will be Hawke/Anders romance, I will kill my Hawke out of jealousy! Anders belongs to my Marina! And to Rhiamon for 15 minutes after the dinner. And to Neria and Maggie when Marina is in Anderfels. And to Brand, Ceri, Mae, Helena, Nhek... Ok, lady Hawke can borrow him for one steamy cut-scene. In the end he will return to Vigil's Keep anyway!

oh man, I need a Drunkenstair ending, too. I've just got one on the console... not PC.
The only reason I upgraded was for a better Dragon Age experience. (sadly: true. I've got a year old laptop that's fine for everything but games)

@Surely: I was thinking that, too. But they have him sandwiched between Bethany and Aveline who are both confirmed companions, not far from other known companions. And mysterious elf guy. If it was a cameo would they have him standing among the party?

@Miri: I'm pretty sure Isabella is with Hawke for most of the game, since she's probably a romance option. (would they give her boobs bigger than her head if she wasn't?  I mean, christ, I'm built like the new dwarf concept art and even I think that's a bit absurd.)

They're not.

So maybe just a cameo?

I haven't been following the party reveals that closely, so I didn't recognize Aveline. That makes it seem even more likely that we're at least getting an Anders clone as a companion.

(if they Garrus him for DA2, I will feel send cupcakes to BW HQ or something.)

And I also need a Drunkenstair ending. The closest I have is King Alistair/Loghain did the DR/Warden ran off with Leliana.

@Lupus Mmm, yes, but as you said, the party is HUGE if those sillouettes (I can't spell that, sorry) are anything to go by. I don't think you'll be dragging around fifteen people the whole time. Or maybe you will... *shrug*

There are also definitely darkspawn involved somehow - it's possible Anders and Nathaniel (he's in there somewhere, I know it) get sent by the warden commander to investigate. Pure speculation now!

Also, male!hawke? Nick Boulton.
AKA Vaughan. And, in sharp contrast, Ser Bryant.

MUST YOU TOY WITH MY EMOTIONS, BIOWARE?
(and being DG, he could be talking about the unnamed faceless mooks in the background for all we know. Since he totally would do that)
(seriously, I'm not going to freak about DA2. I was RAGE RAGE SMASH KILL when I found out Zevran wouldn't be in Awakening before that came out, after all.)

Yeah, I could see DG referring to the dude in the back who is turned away *not* being a companion...

I did the same thing Lupus (except with Alistair), threw a fit when I found out he was only a cameo in Awakenings. Aaaand then I found Anders. I guess I should sit back and be comfortable knowing that even without Anders *sniff* DA2 will probably be awesome. (But it would be magnitudes more awesome if Anders was a romanceable companion!!)

He totally would. I love him. I hate him. He is my drug dealer :).

I heard that the voice would be Vaughn - there was a lot of raeg about it at first, but it's actually a great voice Been writing Vaughn for the last day and I keep wanting to make him stupid, but his voice is actually very cultured and intelligent. Kind of like how I imagine Aedan sounding, actually, although I stupidly chose the prissy voice for him in-game.. Funny actually, because I chose the deepest, manliest voice you can get for Alim. And the first pretty mage I played ended up with the "experienced" voice which made her sound a hundred and harpy like.

Also, note who is several people to the left of possible-Anders: a templar. If it was pre-Wardens Anders wouldn't he be, well, running like hell?

(and since Bethany and possibly Hawke are also apostates that would be a very apostate-heavy party.)

Hm... thoughts, thoughts...

And yeah, I can see it being "well, the templar and the guy wandering around in the background aren't party members."

Maggie's voice set is, unsurprisingly, "violent."

(Not sure about what I'll pick for my tabris for the tabris/daveth fic. And part of me REALLY is tempted to do a daveth/brosca instead, but someone else already is even though it hasn't updated in ages.)

*Stares at Nick Boulton templar photo* Can I make my Hawke a templar?
Bethany: I will zap you!
Hawke: I will holysmite you!
Mama Hawke: Stop this, children. NOW!!!

Ah, I feared Hawke would be voiced by the guy who did Cammen. :D Ser Bryant is not bad (and Vaughan is dead).

Um, back to Anders:

@Lupus Daveth/Brosca fits so well together - I can see the appeal. But Tabris is good too.

I'm just HOPING that we're not required to do the nasty things to people in order to get cameos from them. I mean it seems... MEAN to only give Alistair fangirls a chance to see him if the completely betray him at the landsmeet. Also, if the only way to see Anders is to completely ignore him during Awakenings so he leaves the wardens also seems MEAN. And petty-mean. Because the people who betray Alistair and ignore Anders during their playthroughs probably don't even WANT to see their cameos in DAII...

Vaughan was written to be almost cartoonishly evil, and his voice is perfect for his character. Boulton's work as Ser Bryant is very nice; he's up there with Kylon for NPC's I look forward to chatting with.

Now I'm worried that this is going to be a reverse Shepard sitation and Lady Hawke will be voiced by someone truly mediocre.

Au contraire, some of the characters who have been identified as "they MUST be party members because it's a SCREENSHOT! WITH PEOPLE!" are not what you think they are.

I hope so. But, as crazyass elf guy fanatic Mel_Redux pointed out, elf guy has enough similarities to the concept art of a confirmed elf companion that it almost has to be him. That leaves Anders? and the templar as the only two who don't fit (since archer guy hasn't really been discussed).

Also, people who hate Anders are the saddest people.

Maybe it isn't Anders. He's a mage from the Imperium named Zanders who also, coincidentally, loves cats.

There are people who hate Anders? How? Why? (Besides the people who got pissy that tent party had more Anders prompts than Alistair prompts, I mean)

It's Anders in disguise! And now we know why he was never very good at staying escaped.

From the discussion thread, there are people who are acting like the idea of Anders in DA2 would be the worst thing in  the world. I do not understand their crazy anti-Anders logic, it just makes me want to go snuggle baby animals.

@Miri Prepare to be misinterpreted from another thread!
