I was such a little goth princess that I would wear velvet skirts and shirts with big drippy lace sleeves TO class. I had the goth show at my college radio station when I was 18, and got a club gig not long after since, thanks to my fake ID, everyone in the local scene had already known me for years. After Colembine when the local paper did an article about backlash against goths... they ran my picture on the front page.
Looking back... I spent way too much money on clothes. Waaaay too much.
I still have a weakness for makeup, though. Apart from the fact that I have the hobbies and interests of a teenage boy I'm such a girly-girl. Even now I only own, like, one pair of jeans. Everything else is skirts and dresses. (which is kind of why writing Maggie is fun. Since she just doesn't give a **** about the stuff I freak out over. "Are my stocking seams straight, is my eyeliner even." She'd just be like 'do I have a chunk of dead hurlock in my hair? no? ok, I'm good.")

I've been dying my hair for years, though. I started greying when I was 13 or 14.

Top of page!

@Sarah I didn't exactly hate myself - I'd probably quite like me if I met me now. We could hang out and watch Blakes 7 together and talk about books and possibly play Paranoia (I can NEVER find enough people interested in playing pen and paper RPGs any more). But if I started going on about the boys I liked I'd have to restrain myself from giving myself a quick clip across the ear. I had the WORST taste in men. And women for that matter.

I know I'd absolutely LOVE to have me in my classes though. I was a model student - at least in English.

@Lupus Every time I try to put makeup on I end up looking like a bad vampire movie. So I don't bother. And I was the lucky one in my family - my sister got dark hair and started going grey at 18, whereas I got the lighter hair and I'm only just finding greys now - I have to stop my husband from yanking them out when he finds them - they HURT.

And I'm a WEIRD shape. Every piece of clothing that I'd LIKE to wear looks stupid on me. I was cursed with big boobs and tiny hips, so NOTHING is in proportion - at least nothing in the shops. It's either too tight on top and loose and hell on the bottom or gaping EVERYWHERE and I'm not comfortable with showing Morrigan-levels of boobage on a regular basis. So jeans and shirts it is, at least until I learn to sew or find someone willing to make all my clothes for me.

Mmm. I only ever write posts this long when I've got writers block. Grrr.

@Lupus- I always wished I was more girly-girly, but I've always been too lazy and covered in ink to care about I was wearing. XD I honestly think I've wore jeans, a t-shirt, and Chuck Taylors 99% of the time since I turned 10. Also, I have giant Mae West hip action going on, but upstairs I haven't got enough to fill out any nice top.
I was never allowed to dye my hair when I was younger, so I just got used to my mousy brown hair... and now I kind of dig the absolute plainness of it.
Black eyeliner on my lower lid and lip gloss are what pass for make up at my house. My boyfriend about passes out with amazement if I wear a full face. Unless we count this sort of thing. I do that allllllll the time. XD

@Sarah- Actually, I was pretty rad, if a little moody and petulant. I would definitely hang out with me. We could totally roll our eyes at everything and watch Daria.

@Lupus: "Chunk of hurloc in my hair" Thats great, I should use that to gauge whether my problems are freakout-worthy!

@Miri: I know exactly what you mean. I think I am a similar shape.  +10 to Awkward Clothing cuts.
And I love old-fashioned pen and papers!  We had a few power outages here due to hurricanes and my boyfriend and I were able to organize a few good rounds of D&D by lamplight. Was great :)

I was a good old-fashioned geek as a teenager. Covered in graphite from drawing Star Wars fanart, usually sporting various relics from movies (wore a LOT of lord of the rings garb) and always carrying books. I was super gullible too, so teenaged Anders would have been serious trouble for me in that regard :)

Did I mention I also had a thing for boys with long hair? Anders seems to be a natural extension of this fantasy...

Same. Or at the very least, shaggy hair. And I've been with an abnormal number of blondes. Funny how my tastes haven't changed much since I was a teenager.

And teenage me was awesome. Late teenage me, at least. I feel like if then-me met now-me she'd want to kick my butt. "What happened to you? Ugh!"

Yeah, then me would hate now me. She'd call me an intellectual lightweight and possibly a traitor to feminism. To which I would probably respond "huh?"

I was walking out of the railway station and the security officer said for some reason: "There's no exit here!" I don't know why he said it, especially because he did it after I passed the control. But suddenly Anders cried out inside my head: "There's always an exit!" I need healing

And I totally confirmed my qunari origin today, because I escaped the party at work. Because I can eat and drink at home and then go to bed and be at work tomorrow at 9 a.m. without a headache. I don't know why our boss arranged the party on MONDAY!

@Gala: Office party on a Monday? Odd choice, I would have qunari'd out of there as well :)
Either that, or gone full-Oghren and ended up so sick that the rest of the workweek would have been a bust...

Also I love that kitties expression, so content. Tasharene does nice work!

@Lupus: I just air fist-pumped seeing the intial discussion about Anders. I love speculations threads in that they make me hopeful and hate hate hate them when they dash my Anders hopes to bits.

@Lupus See, I have it all worked out. Even if you get the good ending with him there's no reason why he can't be in Kirkwall on "warden business" - after all, you definitely see Hawke fighting darkspawn so one can assume that the threat isn't JUST from the Qunari.

And it's just occurred to me that people got narky about Wynne being alive in Awakening even if you kill her in Origins - but she's got that whole "spirit who brings her back from the dead" thing going on - so really, she was the only companion who could legitimately still be around ;).

Sharing a WIP since I'm absurdly happy with how his robes have turned out so far.

(I suck at drawing hands. Solution: hide hands whenever possible.)

Nice, Lupus! The details in his robes are great. Also, the strategic mistletoe is very intriguing...

I'll boycott the game anyway because it's not in Steam and I won't buy it elsewhere.

I think the new "old favourite" is Velanna. Because almost everybody hated her in DAA, just like they hated Oghren in DAO, and look where's he now! :P Of course, there's already that elf guy, and we didn't have more than one elf in the party before, so it may be someone else.  :)

@Lupus, I love the colors!

@Sarah, well, and I love Velanna in DAA. But in comparison to the hatred on some forums we were in minority.

Oh, and, btw, after Rhiamon's journey to the Deep Roads I'm in love with Oghren! My witch brings him everywhere with her. So many new possibilities in that game are discovered when you're not romancing Alistair.

@Estral2: The mistletoe was because it was originally done for a prompt on peopleofthedas: "Zevran has a piece of mistletoe, and is not afraid to use it."

And, you know, that was the first thing that came to mind. Since I live in the gutter. ;)

@Gala: Thanks!

@Sarah: I liked Oghren, too. What they did to him in Awakening made me angry, though. They just made him into a drunk-dwarf joke, his original character was much more nuanced.

And I turned it into this:

I do feel a bit weird about some of the things I mention in reviews, like the whole Nathaniel-Arling thing a few chapters back. I know that the opinions Maggie and others express aren't necessarily your own but I always feel like I should start with "I'm not telling you how to write your story" when I'm reacting to these things...

Heh, no worries. And I'm just glad you know her opinions aren't my opinions. (FWIW, I'm a pacifist, so my opinions=pretty far from Maggie's 'let's kill it with fire!' mindset.)

IMO, Nathaniel is kind of obsessed with duty, whatever he happens to see it as (which isn't always something logical, as he once thought killing the hero of Ferelden was his duty to his family). So since he's committed himself the Wardens he would see that as duty, but making sure his surviving family was seen to would be something he personally would want to ensure.

And Maggie does a lot of stuff that makes sense only to her. It's her... um... charm?

And here's a point in favor of Anders being the returning companion: Spirit healer is comfirmed to be returning as a specialization. (That and blood mage are the only ones from Origins they're bringing back)

Finn DID have Morrigan's 'gift.'

Edit:

@Lupus: I knew that before even starting the story since it's been mentioned in the thread before. Posted Image
