'scalled a Coffee Syphon. I have an espresso machine (which I will be firing up soon, now that we're getting the house organised) but I so want one of these now as well.

Oooh, pretty! I wish I lived somewhere where it snowed - even if only occasionally.

I'll trade you. It's like freaking Hoth outside here right now. It's 18 degrees out here (that's -8 for you) but with the wind chill it feels about fifteen degrees colder. Ugh.

Working on AOA chapter. Hope to be done tonight. Tempted to write first chapter of next story now just so I can pimp it before AOA ends...

@Estral and Miri, It's even better now! Plus, it totally got me the day off work tomorrow. Guess who's snuggling up and drawing all day. ^_^

We'll probably have snow for about a week then it's back to 40-50°F for a month, a humid spring, and then a delightfully gross, muggy summer.

Could Anders be the son of Maric and Flemeth?

I doubt it. How would the Circle have gotten ahold of him?

With great difficulty.

There's some speculation that he might be Wynne's son - which is interesting since DG said we'd hear more about Wynne's son in the future. Personally I don't buy it, considering if he were Wynne's the Chantry would have gotten him at birth as opposed to later on.

And he's not Maric's son. DG has confirmed that the resemblance between him and Alistair is purely coincidental and a product of only having what.. five different noses to choose from?

I think Anders is cool enough not to be a son of some celebrity. But I really want to know who is Wynne's kid. For some reason since my first playthrough I have a crazy idea that Wynne+Greagoir=Cullen. Of course, I don't believe it after reading DA official comic. Greg is so badass there that I'm sure he would've never slept with a mage. That man is a walking Holy Smite. And considering that Wynne was a Chantry-loving version of Maggie, anyone could be her child's father. (What I love about the Circle is that it's like an endless soap opera with a lot of special effects :))

@Lupus, he said that Anders is too old to be Duncan' (ergo Maric's) son.

ahhh, ok. I knew there was an age conflict mentioned somewhere.
Well, I think he was too young to be Wynne's son. I get the feeling she's probably mid-60s in origins, and her story has the feel of being something that happened when she was very young... That would put him in his 40s or so at the time of Origins.

I'm also now having the highly disturbing thought of Wynne as the tower tramp in her youth...

By the way, I just wanted to say that I just finished reading "Never Boring" about ten minutes ago, and I must compliment you accordingly. It's very, very good. I can hardly wait to read Apostates of Amaranthine. You've created
a main character that I think it's very easy to identify with, and on occasion I found myself actually laughing out loud, specifically when I switched over to your Origins fic and read about Maggie's escapades with Jowan. I've only written one fanfic, but the way you characterized Jowan was really, really similar to how I did, and I sort of felt a little warm and fuzzy inside to see it.

Anyway, your stuff is great, can't wait to read more! Sorry to derail the thread.

That'd be freakin' great if he was Wynne's son. Messed up, but great. I love when stories twist like that. That conversation (Wynne/Alistair about her son) was the point at which I changed my stance that the Chantry "meant well but needed to be changed" straight to "down with the Chantry! Free the mages!" I was 8 1/2 months pregnant when I heard that conversation for the first time, so you can imagine what sort of reaction that may have. :innocent:

Oh I know! I was three months pregnant with my second - made me wonder exactly how ****ed in the head Wynne had to be to still think the Tower was a good place.

@SgtElias : Thank you! :) I love Jowan, he's such a misunderstood character.

I'm a bit on edge because I'm playing through the game with the karma's companions mod installed now to recruit him, and I haven't seen what she did with the dialogue I wrote for it for Jowan. I didn't realize she would be mashing it up with things four other people were writing and I'm a bit... not thrilled. It seems like just compiling dialogue written by people working completely apart will make him sound a bit schizophrenic. Not to mention, you know, how long I spent rewriting every line.

The story about Wynne and her son just horrified me. My first game was as a mage and I was pretty taken aback when I realized they would just make someone a tranquil on nothing more than "eyewitness testimony," too. I suppose it's the modern obsession with due process and the like, but my first thought was "what if the eyewitness just hated his guts?"

And this is Wynne's problem.

It was my second, as well. I admit, hearing those lines at a time when I'm at my most maternal probably didn't give me much love for templars; I couldn't possibly understand how anyone could stand for such a thing. I actually almost cried as I sat there, my two-year-old son in my lap, imagining screaming and swearing as they tore a tiny baby from my arms, templars and mages alike restraining me, tears streaming down my face.

Describe that scene to people, then ask them what they think of the templars.

Not that I'm biased. . .

To bring it back to Anders, however, was anyone else surprised in Amaranthine when he was as worried as Winne about the mages pulling away from the Chantry? I couldn't believe it; I thought he'd be all for it. Hm. Food for thought.

Seriously. Jowan is perhaps my favorite NPC non-companion in the game. When I found out he was a blood mage, I was actually thoroughly stunned. I played the rest of the game differently after that. Odd, I know.

My first game was as a mage, as well, and now I feel like it's so much a part of how I play that I can't imagine making my Hawke anything else. Also, it gave me some serious, serious biases that I would probably otherwise have missed.

Anyway, beautiful story! Once I finally finish my Japanese, Math and CIS homework, I'll get right over to reading AoA.

I think it wasn't that he didn't support the general idea. He just knew they could vote for whatever they want, and if the Chantry didn't like it there would probably be a lot of lives lost as a result.

Hm, fair enough. Still, I was surprised. That was perhaps my favorite part of Awakening: getting into an argument with Wynne. Fantastic.

Yeah let's beat on Wynne! I often wonder if she trained Anders in Spirit Healing (in my fics he's taught by his mum, but I don't know what DG was thinking) and if so what sort of relationship they would have as mentor and apprentice. I agree, though, that he thinks breaking away from the Chantry altogether will just make mages MORE feared than they already are. I'm pretty sure he's all for some sort of control, just not for ripping kids away from their parents or locking them up in towers their entire lives...

And SgtElias - pretty much exactly my thinking as I heard her story. So sad. I love how Lupus's fics explore that too - just you wait!

You hinted at that in Never Boring. I actually stopped my Japanese homework early so I could start reading!

I'm so bad. Oh well. Not due until Wednesday . . .

Anyway, I liked that idea. Imagining their relationship was extremely amusing. ^_^

I didn't mean to beat on Wynne. I actually rather like her. But still . . . she can be a tad preachy at times, can't she?

Oh no, I shall not be waiting! I shall be reading. Right now. Now. This very moment.

This secoond. ;)

p.s. I'm sitting, drawing, coloring my comic, and then some son of a witch shuts off the power! Aaaaarg, I want my own house. Or my own vault, or my own island. I'm happy that I'm saving it often, I haven't lost much.

I'm working on an Anders vector, but here's a quick one in the interest of balancing our Amell/Surana ratio...
