And a wonderful outlet it is!
I'm tempted to start barreling through finishing AOA just because, in my mind "aoa is done" = "da2 time"
Which isn't the case, but I can't help how these associations form.

Top of page speculation art roundup!

@Miri, I forgot where it was, DG loves to sneak into a thread, write something offtopic, and you will never find it later. I think I got the link from somebody, will try to find it later.

He does that a lot, I noticed. :D

So the dev diary seemed to imply that there would be more inter-party interaction.

I'm now picturing my, say, rogue Hawke's reaction if Anders hit on her sister. And I'm thinking it would really test the bonds of sisterly love.

(and seven hours?!)

I was asleep! Sorry! Good night for once - bubs was only up twice and toddler spent the whole night in her own bed. HOORAY. I feel a bit like a proper human...

We haven't seen this one for a while:

Oh, I'm so glad that everyone is running around all excited. At random intervals at my house, I actually stop what I'm doing to squee. I haven't done that since. . . probably the night the last Harry Potter book came out. Which was awhile ago.

My husband and kids have become accustomed, I believe. Sometimes I just sigh happily in the car and my husband narrows his eyes and says "Anders in DAII, right?"

And as to whether or not he'd be a love interest. . . well, honestly, I can't imagine him not being one. Anders is very, very pretty. And when is the last time a pretty Bioware companion wasn't a love interest?

Has anyone else noticed that all the companions reveals seem to be sort of. . . young and pretty this time around? Not that those that came before weren't. But everyone that's been revealed this time seems to be (relatively) young and attractive. And you can argue that "Isabela is a four-letter female derogatory term" or Aveline is "super-manly and ugly", but really, they're all pretty good-looking. No one has been announced this time that's a Golem or an old woman or a dog.

Interesting. Is it March yet?

Well, I suppose they can't be ancient since they'll have to be around for ten years and they might have to worry about actually aging them if they were too old.

God, I hope this occurs. I'm imagining an extremely entertaining, horrid, Jerry-Springer nightmare dream-come-true.

Fist fights! Screaming hysterical lovers fighting over the PC! Chairs to the face! I want it all!

. . .

Please pardon me. I am at school and have not slept. I apologize for my exuberance.

Hello, everyone. I'm making a jump from Anders discussion on the DA2 thread. :wizard:

I am beyond trying not to get my hopes up. It just seems to me that everything points to Anders as the sixth party member. But I won't get into my growing list of evidence here.

So, here's a good question: does anyone know who wrote Anders? Because Jennifer Hepler, Sebastian's writer, said that she also wrote "one more guy that they haven't announced yet."

I'd be really interested to see inter-party relationships. I STILL haven't played Baldur's Gate II, but I believe there's a possible romance between two of your party members in that?
Mind you, if that little minx Merrill goes near Anders she'll be getting a swift crushing prison on her from my fem!Hawke....
Oooh, when it turns out he's not in it I'm going to be all sad now. But still, this is like the lottery. You pay a couple of dollars to dream about what you'll do with the millions that follow...

I've noticed and I'm not sure how I feel about it. Varric might not be appeal to me if he wasn't Awesome, but all the rest fall firmly into what I would consider attractive. I definitely wish Sebastian was less pretty (although his nose is glorious). Hell, I would have been thrilled if they just adapted Zaeed and threw him into DA. He added character to ME2s line up of ridiculously attractive humans.

@Lupus I've actually thought about the whole Bethany/MeleeHawke thing with Anders. I think the unkindest cut would be if Anders IS a companion but not a LI...and he flirts with the female companions non-stop or can be involved with them.

@Miri Ooh, ouch. Maybe he passed the Anders torch to Hepler?... She did write some mage plots, apparently.

I remember they had a lot more of that back in the BG era and it was fantastic. You had to plan your party because if person x and person y went somewhere together they'd get in a fight and one would leave, there were inter-party relationships, all sorts of things. It just gave an added layer of complexity to the characters.

And I love that pic, Miri... for obvious reasons. ;)

also, good point, Sarah. People won't age as dramatically in their 20s and 30s as they would if they had someone who joined in their late 30s. It may be to save them from having to make multiple face morphs.

@preciousmetal She may have written a villain - not necessarily a party member. And when did she announce it? Before we knew Merrill was a companion?

@Miri Oh, that's true. She didn't really specify that it was a party member. Yes, it was before Merrill. In the Sebastian thread, I think.

EDIT: Here's the quote: "For those who were curious, I wrote the Dwarf Commoner, Orzammar and the
Deep Roads, and some early bits of the Landsmeet for Origins. And
Bethany. And some guy they haven't announced yet. And a lot of mage
plots. Howdy."

I think Helper wrote most of the mage plots, so maybe she has a bigger role in his character now? Or maybe they had someone else take over so he didn't come out sounding too Alistair-like?

Miri: gog.com has BG 2 for only ten dollars US, and it's patched to work with XP, Vista, and 7. Just sayin'

And it's DRM free so you could install it on your desktop and laptop. That's what I did. Even with my sad little mobile celeron processor my laptop runs it just fine.

@preciousmetal *wibble* that's taken a bit of the wind out of my sails. :(. But I shall continue to hope. How long before the release of Origins were all the companions announced? Will we know BEFORE it's released?

@Miri Nah, don't let that get you down. :) That's really the only bit of info that's against Anders, imo. It could be like Lupus said, they may have had Jen take over. Or like you said, she was referring to a villain, or other NPC.

I think that all of the Origins LIs were announced before release. But that could be why they're holding this last guy back - the human male LI, no doubt - because it's a returning party member. And they're trying to kill surprise us. That's how the Garrus reveal was handled. Different teams, but still.

Only problem with having a Mac as my laptop. It is too finicky gettin gog to work on it. I know I could do it, but then I'd have something else which would cut into my drawing and writing time. At the moment it's good - the gaming PC is upstairs away from the kids play area so I can't play during the day. Strictly laptop stuff for me then, which means more Shades an more Blood Wound and more of that picture I've been working on for a week now...

More Blood Wound is ALWAYS a good thing!
(Shades, too, of course... but you've been dangling Alim like a carrot for ages, I'm dying to read his story!)

Yep, Sarah's up this week.
I'm actually playing ME now. I've never played on PC before, though, only 360 and I wanted a carryover for ME3.
Plus, Garrus is like batman crossed with a velosaraptor crossed with Richard Burton, and I don't know many things in this word that can top that for sheer awesome.

@Tankgirly: AIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
edit- he said it just after DA:A came out.  Drat, was hoping for new info!
Is it march yet?
