So it seems I'll be practically the only one getting to know Bethany first game.

Well, it does depend in when you can pick up Anders? My grip on DA timeline is tenuous at best, but if the game starts juuust post Lothering, there's a good.. twoish? years where the Blight's going on, and then the events at Amaranthine (assuming this is post Awakenings!Anders).

So there might be some time to get to know her first? XD

From what I've heard, Carver dies if you're not a mage and Bethany dies if you are one (in Lothering at the beginning, I think). Everyone keeps talking about the mage Hawke but I hate playing as a mage.

So, there are now two seperate Anders fan threads. Interesting... should they be merged or stay seperate?

We can only hope.

@Sarah, I play a Warrior or Rogue eventually. I just like being a mage. -shrug- It's always my first choice.

@Sarah Ohhhhhh. Man, that's gonna suck for poor Hawke(tte), if that's the case. ;^; I'm torn between Rogue and Mage, personally - I'll probably go with Rogue because I like melee more than casteryness(gameplay-wise, anyway, RP wise I <3 mages).

@Gala BRILLIANT. *snrrrrk*

I like me my rogues, but DA mages are teh awesome. I'm doing fem!Mage, then fem!Rogue then Fem!Warrior. Anders for my mage, probably Anders for my Rogue too, but I'll go Isabela for my warrioress.

I tend to romance people whose skills complement my PC that way I don't feel as guilty carting them around with me everywhere. XD

I'm starting to think I'll have two playthroughs going at once, because I can't decide whether I want to do a mage or a rogue first.

@Miri I will need to play a Hawkette mage for Anders at some point, definitely. I just know I'm going to sit in front of my PC at the character creator screen, agonizing over what to do first. XD

I never had a character in DA to romance him in my headcanon (I have 7 Wardens already established in my fic-world, and the only one who might be considered is probably too dark for him). I never had the heart to make an Orlesian Warden, either(I live in Quebec, so as an anglophone I can totally understand that grudge, rofl!).

BTW The article that dismisses the Aveline as LI hopes also heavily hints that Anders will be voiced by Greg Ellis. I haz a happy.

Miri, I'm so tempted to go to Greg Ellis' facebook and write a huge squee somewhere on his wall :)

Oh, and I need the game. Or a drug to heal my brains. Anders and Hawke are playing doctor in my head, somebody stop them!

Hawke: Anders!

Anders: Yes, m'lady?

Hawke: Anders, I need your help.

Anders: Tell me what should I do?

Hawke: I'm wounded, Anders. And it hurts so bad... And it's bleeding.

Anders: My, why haven't you told me sooner? Was it that ugly genlock... Where's your wound?

Hawke: Right here (presses his palm to her breast), my heart is bleeding and only you can fix it.

Anders: Oh (<3 approves)

Spirit: She's lying!

Anders: Go away, Justice, this is serious! My lady, I must ask you to remove this dress and let me examine you closer.

Hawke: Do what you think you must, I trust you with my life!

Anders: You must also stay in bed. Bleeding is a serious business!

Hawke: *giggles* Ok, I can't play anymore! *jumps on Anders*

Anders: Hehe, wild apostates are wild!

Hawke: meow!

Right. I've asked them at the DA II Anders thread I might as well ask here. Folks, I suddenly had this thought: Who was the mage Anders was trying to save and discovered he had been made tranquil? Could that be Jowan?

I don't think they have the ability to merge threads.  But... this thread has been around for eight months.  And I somehow doubt the bioware employee who started the official thread is going to care to add links to our weekly prompts, deviantart group, etc to the first post.

@tank: I'm thinking the friend is the man who you see with him when he's healing in the one screenshot, and then has the tranquil lyrium brand on his forehead in the second (where his eyes glow).
Since Jowan is dead in probably 90% of import games (well, dead or given to the circle), especially when even characters who like him would be unlikely to take the "Leave, and I never want to see you again" option, I can't imagine they'd even bother trying to figure out a way to bring him back

@Sarah: I always play mage first.  It's like an addiction.

My planned mage isn't really romance material and she's the sort who would choose Justice over Anders if it came to that, so not a good fit. With that being said, I'll probably play a 2-handed warrior first, and she'll go for Anders (if it's possible). I have a total warrior/mage pairing fetish, having started with Alistair/Amell, and I already have so many ideas for Hawke/Anders, but a lot of it hinges on Hawke's relationship with her family, especially Bethany and Carver.

I have thing for pairing Anders with a blood mage girl. Both Rhiamon and Marina are blood mages, Cassia will be a blood mage too (I was jumping when I found out this specialization is comming back!). Because I like the idea of Anders thinking: "Nice legs, nice butt, nice breasts, nice arms, pretty face - cool. Blood magic? Oh, now that sucks... But the legs..."

That's kinda why I love making my warriors Reavers. Besides getting to be creative with how they learned it (since I don't bother with the ashes thing, although Haven was hilariously awkward for Brand because I imagine Alistair being all "See how unerving it is? I can't believe I let you kiss me knowing you could eat my soul!"), it's fun to roleplay the mechanics. With Anders, it's interesting because he's a healer and, like Blood Magic, you're balancing health against damage output and having a really good healer helps mitigate some of the healing penalties which means Moar Death, Faster. If some version of Haste is in DA2 (although Haste seems to be coming standard in all combat), I'll be in scary, deathdealing heaven.

@Sialater My canon Shepard is a Sentinel, which doesn't transfer very well to Dragon Age. I suppose a Templar/Reaver Sword and Shield build might work, but I loath S/S. Or she could be a Spirit Healer/Force mage, which is sorta close to the class specs in ME.

And yes, I've thought about it several times this past month.

@Surely, that's why I love Brand and Maggie! They are so in my boat: "Let's make Anders love us and annoy him with the unholy specializations" :) Of course, now he has his demon thing... And he also has a dagger in the concept art, which worries me, because it's a blood mage attribute. But I suspect he will join us with only one spec and it will be a healer, because Merrill is a blood mage already.

*can't stop watching Anders action video" Aw, he looks so innocent, who could've guessed he's an abomination?

@Gala: Awwww... thank you!  I was actually just about to reply with how I also love the Anders/Blood Mage combo for the relationship drama/conflict it brings.  (had to wait until my lunch break to post).

There's just SO MUCH there to work with.  It makes him question his longstanding beliefs about blood magic, it makes her wonder what he really thinks about her deep down, it causes all sorts of arguments. (and then, of course, the makeout smut).

I really, really like doing things to make characters question how they've always looked at the world, sticking Anders with a blood mage is a great way to do that since he has such a hate for it.

I only meant personality-wise.  Skills don't have much to do with her personality.  Meghan is a mage/Biotic first, warrior second.

I just giggled at the thought of Meghan and Anders in the same story together.

Funny, each Awakening run had Anders being an Arcane Warrior and Blood Mage on top of his Spirit Healer. He was my sole blood mage, and that came in handy on a couple of fights.

LOL, my main Shepard is a law and order type, and would probably be a warrior/templar, which would be an interesting dynamic for meeting Anders.

AwakeningAnders would tell her she's got a stick up her posterior, and he'd try to get her to loosen up...I'm not sure how DA2Anders would feel about her.

My first playthrough will be a happy go lucky mage who definitely feels that mages should be free, however.  It makes sense, given her upbringing and family.  Being on Anders' side of the mage/Chantry conflict is just a happy bonus...

Well, the Kaboom was probably for others, not each other.  Though that might work, too.
