Abominable Anders? Still hot. Yes, I may be disturbed.

Gah! I always get TOP when I'm on my mobile :)

@Miri, We can be disturbed together, because I wouldn't kick him out of bed for eating crackers Templars.

A few people on that facebook love page wrote that they would like an abomination to be their valentine. BioWare will make all of your dreams come true! Anders can be:

1. Your charming boyfriend.

2. A monster in your bed.

3. Will love your cooking no matter how bad it is.

4. Will never dump you, cuz it would be unjust!

5. Will warm you even on the South Pole.

If you still think he's not a perfect man, than I just don't know what to say!

Edit: how could I forget?

6. Will be your light in the dark. Literally. Shiny eyes and stuff :)

Ooh, interesting snippet; when running through the Gauntlet and you come across the folks who do the rhyming/riddles, Lady Vasilia asks "An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. The debt of blood must be paid in full. Of what do I speak?"

And the answer is vengeance, and she goes on to declare "My husband Hessarian would have chosen a quick death for Andraste. I made him swear that she would die, publicly with Her warleaders, that all would know the Imperium's strength."

Followed by;

"I am justice. I am vengeance. Blood can only be repaid in blood."

Anyone else amused that Vasilia is likely a Tevinter mage, standing against Andraste's rebellion - and then we have Anders, possessed by Justice/Vengeance, taking up a vendetta against the Chantry? XD; Curious little parallel there.

@snarkycleric, we don't mind. We can be quite crazy ourselves, but I hope in more productive way ;)

@nenosronhir, I recalled that when I was reading the 'I am Anders. I am Justice.' part of the short story. I thought it was a curious thing as well. Though I was more amused because one of the ghosts had Anders' voice.

But, well, Anders likes Andraste actually, he hates that Chantry twisted her words.

@Gala yeah, exactly XD Anders claiming Vengeance against the Chantry for oppressing mages vs Vasilia claiming Vengeance against Andraste for ending Tevinter's tyrannical reign - the fact that (in my headcanon, anyway) Anders is at least partially pious... it's almost coming full circle, kinda? XD; In a backwards... kinda.. way... 8B

In his blurb on the main page there's what I assume is a quote from him "The Maker made mages..." so yes, I'm assuming he is religious.

*is still wibbling over that short story*

*we will so need a "hug Anders" mod for DA2*

@nenosronhir, you know, last summer my friend and I were chatting and maybe I even wrote it somewhere on forums, that it can't be a simple coincidence that the names Anders and Andraste sound so similar. And I joked that one day Anders will gather maleficarum and apostates, will start a war and will end up on pyre. My friend said: "Naaah, he's too lazy and he will never abandon his cat!" )))

@Miri: I was always under the impression that Anders actually is religious. Or maybe it's just me, but it seemed to me that he was angry at the Chantry but not the Andrastian faith itself.

@ashez2ashes, you mean the choices? I've added FAQ by David Gaider to the very first post on the first page. Choices won't be ignored, everything will be explained.

lol, I've checked the other thread... Are they still going on about cannibalism? *facepalm* I eat flesh too, sometimes when I go to Church on Sundays. My family members don't think I'm a monster because of that. And I read Melville's Typee, and cannibals there were cute <3 Lol, and my Rhiamon Amell chewed off her mother's head and my watchers said it was ok XD

And Anders was not Anders when he wad doing that anyway.

...they're still on about it? I'm going to continue hiding out here then. I like this thread. It's friendlier.

I really genuinely don't see the entire fuss about the 'cannibalism' thing, probably because I'm in the "the phrase "eaten flesh" could mean a variety of things, including things that do not involve Anders going NOM" camp. And yes, I agree with you on Anders not being Anders when he did that. I don't think he knows exactly what he did (he might not have eaten them, but he'd definitely be extremely horrified if he thought he had.)

I've always thought of Anders as religious as well. It seems like a lot of mages would be since they're raised in a deeply religious environment. And the codexes say Ferelden is much more religious overall than the rest of Thedas (despite the chantry's comparative lack of power). Which makes sense, really, if you take into account their comparative poverty and primitive culture compared to other nations. It's no secret that people have become far less religious as society evolves and things like literacy and scientific knowledge become commonplace.

That line about the maker creating mages makes me really wonder about the game. It seems like his goal is reformation, not destruction. (after all, athiesim isn't unheard of in Thedas. Morrigan freely admits she doesn't believe in the maker and while Leliana is bothered by it, her reaction isn't that of someone who had never fathomed hearing such a statement)

I think abominations are called like that because they do creepy ugly things, not give kids candies and look pretty. And who said he ate people? Have you seen how abomination fought in Origins? I think they can use their teeth... Or maybe Jennifer Hepler was just making things grim. For lulz. And now she's reading those forums and laughs :)

Edit:

@Lupus, in the short story Anders thinks of revolution. And not even once. So I agree with you.

Yeah the cannibalism thing, I think that is being seriously exaggerated.

So, I'm kinda confused about the Alistair fangirls can't be Anders fangirls thing tbh. I, personally, prefer humans which is why I never got into Zevran. So, if there are others like me, watch out Alistair fangirls are gonna become Anders fangirls!! Plus...I honestly thing most Alistair fangirls will like him anyway...just a guess. I don't see myself as "tainting" anything.... :(

I hope this gush thread becomes a bit more friendly. It will be sad if there is nowhere for Anders fangirls to really gush. Not meaning to upset anyone or flame...I'm just sayin. <3 2 ALL Anders fans.

@cmessaz, it's not that Ali's fangirl can't be Anders' fangirl. I love them both myself. But, I'm for example scared of inadequate people. That's all :)

We welcome everyone :)

I know I fangirl both Alistair and Anders (although I've always preferred mages). XD

"inadequate people"?

I'm an Alistair fan and have always liked Anders and am very happy to have him in DA2, but I'm not sure how to take that, who decides who is inadequate. Posted Image

At the risk of being unpopular, and outting myself as not a true Anders' fan ( Posted Image) I think that people have every right to be squicked out by the story, and the portrayal of Anders and Vengeance therein. And I'd say that's the entire point. Having a demon inside of you isn't soft and fuzzy because a demon does not give a ****  who lives or who dies as it rampages towards whatever ends it desires.  I hate the Chantry and what it does to mages but I can't get all fist pumpy, lip bitey excited about what Anders has become (or what he can turn into). I am intrigued by the potential of his character arc but I completely get why others would be put off by the things that happen in that short. It's gross. It's supposed to be.

@Yankee23, well, let's say, I had some experience on one forum where I was getting a lot of hatred because:

1) I dared to spare Loghain in one of my playthroughs

2) I dared to start a fancomic about Anders and ergo betrayed Alistair

I think trying to offend people you don't know because of pixel characters is inadequate. I try not to do it myself. And I'm not saying being Alistair's fan is bad, because I'm still his fangirl too :)

It's gross. It's horrific. It's also precisely why I'm absolutely fascinated. I do agree that the story can absolutely squick people out and that was the point of it; it's certainly not all fluffy and light and I would be quite upset if it had been all fluffy and light. I just don't want to see page after page of the debate anymore. =\\

To be fair I have seen this in all fandoms. But yes I know what you mean, being that my canon exiled Alistair *gasp* while in a romance. But, we are not ALL like that, and it is a universal thing, not just Alistair fans. I've seen some obsessive Zevran fans too.
