Hello, Anders Peeps!

Have lurked for a few of the more recent pages and, after seeing these comments, just wanted to stand up and say there's at least one non-biased person who thought the short story was both fascinating and heartbreaking and wonders why some folks are taking the cannibal schtick and running with it. Seemed fairly obvious to me that he was a) not in control and was horrified/frightened when he realized what he'd done.

And this is coming from someone totally unbiased. I don't have Awakening (after hearing it had game-breaking bugs on PS3, I just never dropped the $40 to take a chance on it) and I only know the bare minimum about Anders from just seeing things in passing on the forums. Seriously. Knowledge currently consists of a) he's a healer mage, he has a cat named Ser Pounce-a-Lot, and c) he has some spirit named Justice inside him in DA2 that's apparently going downhill for the duo. And if my ignorant self can see the "ew, cannibalism" claims and roll my eyes, then... yeah, anyone saying that obviously has an agenda and is trolling.

That being said, is there anything very important I should try and learn about Anders and/or Justice before diving into DA2? The short story really piqued my interest and now I'm looking forward to "meeting" him for the first time with Lady Hawke (and am vaguely leaning towards making her a warrior, possibly with templar specs, just to be absolutely contrarian  ). Will be curious to see what his backstory is with only a DAO save import (no Awakening info on it).

Welcome! DragonRacer13, I would recommend going to youtube and listen to the Anders Dialogue Videos, you can get a better sense of his character. It also wouldn't hurt to see what cutscenes from Awakening were uploaded.

You know, at first I was a little disturbed about the whole change to Anders...but then I thought about it some more. My first playthrough is always a rogue. Always sweet, my PC is always willing to help everyone and do the right thing. (Okay, so she will steal anything that isn't nailed down, but...) . Total fluff character.

What if this time were different? Yeah, she's a still a rogue, but she loves her apostate sister. And then she meets Anders...What if she were willing to do ANYTHING to protect them both? Even things she wouldn't normally consider doing? Will Anders drag her down the path into darkness? *DUN DUN* 


 I think the fact that this LI has the potential to be dark and twisted could shake me out of my comfort zone as a player. I'm suddenly very excited for this game!

I am completely intrigued by Anders' story and though it's tragic, I'm hoping that we can help him and that the romance doesn't end tragically. The Alistair romance only ended tragically if you made the choice to end it tragically. I'm hoping that we have that choice in DA2 too.

@DragonRacer13 As folks have already pointed out links for Anders, I thought I'd follow up with links for Justice (Vengeance is theoretically the corrupted essence of this spirit). Unfortunately his banters are split through three of the banter videos;

Nate-Justice and Oghren-Justice this is the only one not linked above (as it doesn't have any Anders in it, haha, but you'll definitely want to hear the Nathaniel-Justice dialogue).

I wonder if how you specced him in Awakenings will have any effect in DA:2 or if he'll just have crazy demon dude powers and whatever he started out with in Awakening...

You can definately get it done in less three weeks ,several times over in fact, trust me its no where near as long as Origins.

I'm of the opinion that the majority of Awakening was written with DA2 in mind already.  Hell, maybe they made Anders so appealing and had him flirting like mad just so we would like him all the more when he was brought back.

Thanks, Wedger. I thought given his new demeanor that they might have went with someone different. It will be interesting to hear the same voice not but not voiced the same way. I hope despite the changes that he doesn't lose the sarcasm.

I'm with you on that.  I was pondering it on the bus trip in to work today.  iirc the first dev diary said they started DA2 when the finished Origins (without checking he may also have said they'd started thinking about it during Origins).  I am firmly convinced (and have been for some time) that Awakenings is really a prologue for DA2.  Might be interesting to play it again after finishing DA2 - see how much foreshadowing there really was.
