I'm with you on that.  I was pondering it on the bus trip in to work today.  iirc the first dev diary said they started DA2 when the finished Origins (without checking he may also have said they'd started thinking about it during Origins).  I am firmly convinced (and have been for some time) that Awakenings is really a prologue for DA2.  Might be interesting to play it again after finishing DA2 - see how much foreshadowing there really was.

They also mention Anders in Witch Hunt which I found was one too many references to be coincidence. =]
And that Valentine pic above is divine. Mmmmhhmm.

I definitely think we're going to see Velanna, and possibly her sister again (assuming the latter didn't fall to the taint, as she's not with the Architect and Utha when they confront the Warden).

@Miri, you know I love you too.

Heh, when I heard of Justice possession thing, my first thought was: "Gaider lied to us! They do read fanfiction! They definitely read Miri's!" XD

I can't wait for the demo. I hope I'll be able to choose Anders to be in my party and enjoy his magic :) Maybe he'll say something. And I'll take a lot of screenshots!

The 23rd of Feb is a holiday here, I'm so bloody lucky!

You say that like it would be a bad thing....:crying:

Oooh, I'm so looking forward to party banter. SOO MUCH. I mean, with Aveline, who was married to a Templar, and Fenris, who undoubtably has something against mages, there should be some pretty intense conflict going on.

@WeRtheBrox I kind of do now too. Not enough to ever have her in my party, but she's frickin' hilarious in those banters.

@Sarah, I actually suspect that Velanna and her sister will continue the Architect's research. Because they both end up in the Deep Roads no matter what you do.

Oh, btw, does anyone remember how before the Awakening writers were telling us that Anders was their favourite character? Hehe, almost like they do now with Isabela, but Anders never had boobs.

I definitely remember DG writing a little snippet about how he didn't need Alistair any more because he had his own snarky mage :). Pretty much how I felt after the first Awakenings playthrough too !

I don't much like Velanna. My dalish thought she was the sort of person who gave them all a bad name and justified how humans drove them out of places (remembering how she and tamlen scared off the humans in the origin). Everyone else... well, they think she's a racist and are turned off enough by that not to give her the chance to come around. One or two did, but they were all "oh, I'm not so bad now that I gave you that damn halla thing and the blank book, is it?"

That's my new thing... not using the presents to raise approval. Only if my warden has some reason to want to give someone a present. "Zevran made fun of Wynne today and it made me laugh. She.... well, she wasn't a good sport, but she didn't set him on fire or anything. Presents for them!"

Approval has been... much harder to raise. Except for when I romance Zev and was testing that new mod. You know he gives a +1 every time you go in the tent?

(wonders if Anders will be similar... heh. Well, pre justice-merged Anders would have been, I know that much.)

And I just noticed tgail73's nice comments about my fic that were posted while I was slaving away at the office. Thank you!

@Lupus, BW did something to the approval scale, I'm not sure it will work like it did. But I hope every time Hawke will be with Anders, he will appreciate it :) Yeah, Anders, you can't have decent meal, because it costs money you don't have, but you can cast firebals at templars and pretty girls are still there for you <3

And about presents: I think I'll be giving him things, BW said gifts are more important now, like ser Pounce or Morrigan's mirror. Hmm, does that mean I can give Anders another cat... or maybe this time it will be his phylactory? Would be the best present ever.

@Gala he'd want the phylacteries of ALL the mages this time around I would think.

Interesting, thinking about the gifts that you give him in Awakenings - one of them is the book on Phylacteries - I wonder if it goes into any details about how they're made and how they work? If they are, as I suspect, blood magic, that might have tipped him a bit away from apathy and towards revolutionary.

@Miri: I'm sure he already would have pegged the phylacteries as a type of blood magic, but it likely wouldn't help his mood to get it spelled out that explicitly.

I can guess that phylactery could be a huge part of his personal quest. The quest where you will have to make a hard choice:

1) destroy it

2) keep it to yourself just in case

3) give Anders to templars because he's dangerous etc.

  • Justice: You speak often of bodily functions.
  • Oghren: (Grunts) Not half as often as they happen.
  • Justice: But why this preoccupation? I have a mortal body, yet it provides me no such amusement.
  • Oghren: You have a dead mortal body. Try a living one sometime, and then we'll talk.
  • Justice: Possess a living host? I would never!
  • Oghren: Tough break. Enjoy the corpse love.

Is this alluding to something?

I just checked DeviantArt before shutting down for the night, and noticed this (apologies if it's been posted already; I'm trying to catch up ;) : SweetCandyRain's at it again.

That's... a nice image to go out on.

Ahem.

@Batteries The party banter in Awakening is so good. I mean, I loved the origins banter, but it seemed like they just did so much better for Awakening, I wonder if it was because the writing team was smaller so they could work more closely with each other? In any case, he's getting his mortal body, we'll see how he handles the sex thing for ourselves in a couple of weeks. OOOH, can't wait.

@Gala I wonder. It would make sense for them to move the phylacteries to Kirkwall given it's a Templar stronghold, so we could well get the chance to find it.

The only bad thing I'd say about Awakening's banter is that the dialogues start at the oddest of times.
Such as now, I just entered Kal'Hirol and Sigrun decided that was the best place to ask Anders to let Ser Pounce-a-lot out more.
At least his response perfectly fit the area.

I always get the "not when I'm naked" dialogue just as I'm running in to fight a bunch of those smugglers in Amaranthine. Truly annoying.

Oh, and I know Page linked to it, but this needs to be displayed here like nothing else:

Squee, she said she would color it. We'll have the picture v 2.0!

And about phylacteries: since templars and wardens are after Anders now and his joining quest
Spoiler
then I guess his phylactery is in Kirkwall.

Also, this is my official promise to get off my butt and draw actual DAII Anders fan art soon... where he doesn't look like a thumb or a lumpy 'bomination. I've been kind of distracted by everyone's favorite maleficar and some pointy-eared guy who keeps smirking instead of looking all srs bitnezz, but hopefully by the middle of next week I can put them to bed. ;D
