I can apparently only be horribly heart-wrenchingly depressing or goofy lately. Also, that is now officially, my most faved thing on DevArt, Dragon Age or otherwise. Suck on that Jane Eyre dress up game and World War Warden. XD

Eh.vree.thang. The question is "What aren't they complaining about?" There are a lot of people saying they love it, but those that are QQing are killing me. "Why does the rogue flip so much? Is that really necessary? Its so unrealistic!" Yes, and newsflash for you, elves aren't real either. Some are complaining about Isabel's boobs being too big. (Seriously? They're epic!) Some are complaining about the RP thing, some about the lack of character interaction. Some hate the color of LadyHawke's eyes. Some hate that the mage is squishier than the warrior. *rolleyes* For real, there are about 1 out of 20 that actually have something constructive to say. The rest are QQing so much I can barely read through the tear stains on my screen.

The only actual complaint I'd have is that the text is too darn small. I don't know if the PC has this problem, but I play on the xbox and I have to squint.
With Izzy's big boobs... as far as my criteria goes, she's awesome enough(beyond that, really) to look the way she does.  Now if she did nothing but cry and cling to Hawke, needing for him to constantly save her blah blah blah you know how it goes, then I'd be hanging my head in shame.
I don't see why there would be much character interaction in a demo besides getting a taste of the dialogue wheel. Anything important and worthwhile(Romances, listening to a companion talk about their past, whateverfloatsyourboat) will be heard when you play the actual game.

@Batteries, The XBox version is made for widescreen HD TVs, so the text is tiny and unclear until your eyes adjust.
If you brighten the screen it helps loads... Boy had the same problem with Dead Rising

@Lupus, Some part of me wants to pander to the DevArt comm and draw naked Anders and Jowan dancing while saying anachronistic things. XD

Mmm, I liked demo, even though there was no Anders. And I thought I wouldn't like new companions, but I was wrong, they are awesome! All of them. Even Carver. He's my favourite sibling now. And Varric just rocks. I bet Anders will be a great character too, even though they changed him.

@Gala- agreed. I thought it was amazing. I loved it! I really thought I wasn't going to like Carver for some reason, but I did. And Aveline too. Really got all weepy with her story. Varric is awesome, is it weird I do kinda wish he was romancable? And Flemeth! I just about fell outta my chair when she started speaking. Total win on the revamp.



All this made me realize something too. If I love all these characters so much already, and even the revamped ones, I am not worried in the least about Anders. He's going to be so amazing. And so mine.

I really liked Carver, too. I want to know if you start out so far into rival with him, though. I want to be buddies! I'd like to think my Hawke would want to be even closer with her brother after what happened. The ogre scene really ripped my heart out, too. I mean, DAMN. And Aveline? My god. I cried. I seriously cried.

@Avayla: You're completely right. If I was THAT invested in a short little demo... I know the full game will just be more of a good thing.

And it's bioware. I've loved everything they've put out since BG1! Why would this be any different. I'm back to optimistic for Anders. And Hawke is very relieved since Isabela seems nice and all, but she's a bit intimidating.

But truly, I'm anticipating A LOT of replay value. Because I loved Carver too. And I imagine Fenris is going to be fun. The only person I've seen NOTHING of so far is Merrill.

Actually, I'm desperately grateful I played through this demo, for one reason: troubleshooting. If I'd had to deal with that DirectX problem on gameday, or fighting with the settings changes (it started off at the wrong screen resolution, with a fun detour into turning sideways, and no matter what I did to the volume, the dialogue was too quiet to hear until I toggled that "force stereo sound" button)... anyway, yeah, having to deal with all THAT on March 8th would have meant spending most of the day screaming. Now at least I've got the background matters taken care of, and I know what settings to fix before I even start the game.

Aaaaand I think I'll be playing at the easiest possible setting, just for my mental health. I have no shame. I'm in it for the story, not the combat, and that ogre can bite me.


(And if you want the teal deer version of all of the above: Console players?  Be grateful for your good fortune.)

Funny, did you notice that of those Hawkes who survives one is always an apostate (Hawke or Bethany) and another is a former king Cailan's soldier (Hawke or Carver)? I can see Anders and Hawkes chatting about killing darkspawn and cracking stupid jokes, because Hawke has an awful sense of humour! XD



Anders: Your story reminds me how we fought for the Vigil's Keep. That armored ogre slammed in and grabbed me and that's when I knew my hair were doomed, because no magic is powerful enough to get rid of that smell.

Hawke: I guess Bethany was lucky, she would've been terrified to cut her hair short!

Carver: How did you survive?

Ander: My cat saved my life.

Hawkes: ???

Anders: Yes, yes, that kitten was that much awesome! And Jus... Kristoff helped too.

So apparently Greg Ellis isn't voicing Anders for DA2. They replaced him with some Adam guy who did the voice for Constable Aidan in DAA.

Not sure. Greg Ellis did record something according to Gaider. But I guess you and me, Zjarcal, can actually say "I KNEW IT! Told you it wasn't Greg Ellis in that Anders vid."

That not-taking-potion thing is SO. ANNOYING. XD He wouldn't take his potion when I was playing, either, so I ended up the last-mage-standing having to kite the last 4 darkspawn while I slowly whittled their health down with Winter's Grasp at 5% health. D:

I just did another run-through as Rogue-Hawke and omg <3<3 I love the jumping around, it amuses me so much. I think the only thing that actually bothered me was the flipping when Rogue!Hawke is chasing down an enemy from behind, that's kinda lulzy.

So, I'm definitely going to be doing at *least* two playthroughs, because I'm depressed that we can't be bestest mage buddehs with Bethany (I her snark), and because rogue looks like ridiculous amounts of fun.

The scene after the battle with the ogre was wibbleworthy, especially when Mama!Hawke looks up and all but accuses you of letting them die T_T I was like "b-but-- but!" ;----; Don't really like how there isn't an option to react a little more strongly to their deaths, but /shrug ah well.

Auuugh and the scene with Wesley! I was so torn between doing it myself or letting Aveline, because I didn't want that guilt on her conscience and at the same time... T_T

And belated SQUEE for Flemeth, damn that witch is awesome. I love how you can pester her to teach you how to be a dragon. XD

(Last thing - does anyone else find Isabela *adorable*? She makes all these cute facial expressions and the fact she actually says "Ah... balls." is awesome. XD)

@nenosronhir, I too think Isabela was adorable, I like her much more than in Origins where I thought: "Ugh, 5 minutes of shame and Zevran is a duelist!"

I guess I'm the only one who thought battles were too easy... I want my nightmare level. And a flying high camera, I'm not comfortable because I can't see the whole battlefield. But these are minor issues, demo was awesome anyway.

I don't believe so; in the dialogue where Bethany asks "Why did we wait so long?" Carver replies "Why are you looking at me?" if Hawke is a mage, and "Why are you looking at us?" if Hawke is a rogue/warrior, implying that they only needed to wait on Carver if Hawke's a mage, and both if Hawke's a rogue/warrior. I think Flemeth also says something different in the dialogue where she asks about the king, but I'd have to replay it again to be sure, and I believe Aveline also has some varying dialogue when she recognises Hawke or Carver from Ostagar.

@Surely, no. Codex says only Rogue!Hawke or Warrior!Hawke were at Ostagar. With Carver. Aveline apparently was there as well, because when Hawkes mentioned Ostagar, she recognized them. Funny, she also said they served under Captain Varel. Could it be our Varel from Awakening? I doubt it, but it would be amazing, because I love that guy!



I'm torn between Aveline and Carver. I think to tank mega-bosses I need Avi, but I want to have my little brother everywhere I go! Oh, hard choices! I think I'll make my Hawke an epic controller and will live without a tank, like I do now with my witch Amell, who takes Oghren+Morri+Leliana with her.
