Well, there's exception for every rule: when I'd burned Amaranthine he was angry at me till the end of the game. I will never be bad again. There's no greater punishment than Anders' disdain:crying:

Even as a !fangirl, I appreciate Anders for his soft heart.  This screenshot is saved in my folder as "Anders compassion."  I think he's lamenting the darkspawn's trick on Velanna.

Alas for Anders my first game was with a human male Orlesian, so no flirting with the commander for him.  He is being led by a Tabris right now, but she's pretty indifferent to romances having just broken up with the King because someone talked her into saving Loghain...  <_<

But Gwynlian will come along eventually, and make him very happy!

Funny, have I ever mentioned how easy it's become to spare Loghain since Anders appeared? Before Awakening the Landsmeet was my worst nightmare, because I wanted to make everyone happy, my PC especially, but I also didn't want Ali to make a child with Morri, I didn't want Anora to rule or at least to rule alone, because she hates elves and because she's a snake, I didn't want to kill Loghain because, though I hate him for a lot of reasons, he was making that sad face and I was feeling guilty. And I didn't want my PCs to be royal mistresses. And then Anders put everything in the right places, and now Ali rules with Lady "Viper" Anora, Loghain redeems himself (a bit) and my PC stays with Anders within the Grey Wardens! Anders made all my female mages happy.

I'm working my way slowly though Origins and every time I pick up something nice I think "ooh Anders/Nate will like that."  I'm not sure that's what I'm supposed to be thinking about

I still love Alistair, he's my first crush, so it's almost impossible to even marry him to Anora (my femBrosca is going to be his mistress, but possibly have a fling with Anders once she gets to Awakenings considering she doesn't have the same attitude to sex as Alistair does).



My femTabris HATES human men, so she has a fling with Zevran during the Origins, spares Loghain, marries Alistair to Anora and then gets seduced by Anders in a snow storm .

Is it sad that I still can't *really* spare Loghain in my game? Even knowing that things won't pan out with Alistair, I can't marry him off to Anora and the execution/exiled drunk endings make me incredibly sad.

Looking at my romances, I'd say that things would work out the same way for all of my characters even if there were LIs in Awakening. My Aeducan and Tabris would be with Zev, my Brosca and Elle Cousland would be with Leliana, amd Lucilla Amell with King Alistair.  Brand is just sort of "Whoever wants me can have me" about things, even when she stays with Alistair for however long that can last.

I was playing the Landsmeet obsessively for research, but I usually use the Toolset if I want info for my story. I only have one character who spared Loghain and meant it, but she was for the scrapheap anyway so that nullifies her game (although the whole thing made me hate Alistair for three days).

I killed him my first game for Queen Cousland purposes, spared him my second game for achievement purposes, and - aside from that time I redid the Landsmeet to get the WC ending - have never looked back. I like the ending enough that I can find a RP reason for all of my characters to go with it.

I've spared him once.   Curiosity and for the achievement.  That was quite early on.  Since then my girls take one for the team and US their way into Awakenings.

You get used to all that when you've done it as many times as I have. Even his "I had no idea that it would end like this for us", which used to tear me to peices, makes me "eh" now. But I just can't get over him not existing or him somewhere miserable.  I'm slightly more ok with King Bitterpants, but not really.

Despite my earlier comments regarding my lack of rp ability...

I agree.  I'm thinking this is how my current playthrough is going to end.  Its the neatest ending imho.

I know there are innumberable threads that will tell me differently, that Morrigan is just misunderstood, but I just don't trust her.  I won't DR as long as there's an alternative.  Usually for me that's US (as I said) but, the one time I did spare Loghain and let him kill the AD, the game felt complete.

Its better closure for everyone - my opinion though.  I'm sure others feel differently.

Oh - I should probably add - I don't usually romance Alistair as I don't like to play HNF's. So I realise my closure isn't for everyone.

What Miri said.  Riordan jumped in and was all "let's give this a shot!" and I said to myself, "Self, I've spared everyone I could along the way, I should do this too."

Mmm. See, I DO trust Morrigan by the end of the game. She's selfish, self centred and arrogant, but I honestly don't think she's evil and I honestly don't think, if you do her personal quest, she's doing it to possess the child and go off and be immortal or whatever.



My canon "background" for Morri is that Flemeth did the dark ritual with the elven dude who killed the last archdemon (forget his name), possessed the child, and that's how she got to live for so long AND learn the dragon shape shifting form, but it was incomplete or faulty so she had to do it again in order to keep going. She wanted Morri to get the child so she could try again, but Morrigan, through her interactions with the Warden, ends up with a conscience and brings up the child as hers, learning from it rather than possessing it.

It's not that I don't trust her, I just don't think it'll end up very well. The darkspawn seem to instinctively look for old gods. Wouldn't that mean every darkspawn within miles would be all over her kid?

If you want a happy ending for the romance but don't like the mistress ending and plan on putting him on the throne it is.

I did it once, only for the sake of achievement and did not save that file. Watching Ali stormed off was one of the most painful thing in game.....well....second to watched him died.
