Am I staring? Oh, Maker, I am. I should look away. But... no, she hasn't noticed. Has she? Well, she will if I look away. Nothing says guilt like quickly looking away. Maybe if I just... keep looking she won't notice. Maybe. Oh, not bloody likely. Where is Pounce when I need him for a distraction??
hilarious!

Anders speech patterns occupy far too large a portion of my brain.
I have that problem with Alistair. It makes writing everyone else's dialogue incredibly difficult. Hell, it makes writing him hard, too, since I don't always want him to sound so much like Alistair.

Gala! You forced me to update my beloved Alistair picture.I love it!
I would post this on my wall at work, but I would likely get an EEO complaint.

Oh, I think the Pie Curse was dispelled, I can not to think of pies today, yay! Now I'm thinking of Anders vs. corsets. My orlesian warden always wears them when she's not in armor. And Anders loves to investigate this part of women toilette. It's quite a torture for him to have his arms on her waist, but a lot of fun to observe her orlesian breasts above it... And maybe not only observe.

I wonder if mages can do painless hair removal spells?
#1536
Posté 10 août 2010 - 07:20
I'm sure they could do something, but if no one else in the world removes their leg hair I don't think anyone would bother. If that's the norm it would be like telling a mage they could use magic to get rid of eyebrows. "I could, but why??"

If I could plait my eyebrows I'd probably want to at least trim them...

I think it can be done with the same spell combination Anders uses to maintain his awesome unshaveness: spell shield on your skin and in Anders' case on the part of his bristle he wants to keep, and then a fire spell.Miri1984 wrote...

*sigh* I wish I could be a mage in Thedas. Despite being in danger of possessing and being hated by everyone it could be so much fun! I could invent so many spell combinations! And I could make myself shining or sparkling with all that funny looking buffs. Ah, dreams.

Plus, it's cold in Ferelden! I live in a cold city and there have been winter days where I seriously contemplate "hm, I look like a Yeti, but if I don't shave I'll be marginally less freezing when I walk to the subway."

Yeah, but we live in a culture where bare legs are the norm. For someone in a culture where hairless legs would be strange or even a sign of illness (tip: if you ever, randomly, find you don't have to shave anymore get your thyroid checked. trust me) I don't think they'd be bothered by that. (I just suspect Maggie would be all "You want me to do what with the hair on my legs? Seriously? You do realize I'm lucky if I find time to actually take a bath most days, don't you? Is this some dressing up thing? Whatever, You do what you want to your legs, I'm going to go rinse these hurlock chunks out of my hair and fool around with Anders.")

Yes, I live in the land of shoestring straps, thongs and terry toweling shorts unfortunately, so not shaving immediately brands me as a hairy lesbian. Plus having mediterranean blood doesn't help - why oh why did I get the scottish fair skin AND the greek hairiness?? Someone had fun when they were mixing up my genes.
On an ON TOPIC note - playing Awakenings today and it's the first playthrough since patch 1:04 and for the first time ANDERS was the one who warned me about the conspiracy and not that other chick who gets killed later on. Kinda nice seeing as I'm playing with my Neria now (at least, I would be if I'd ever finished the game with her, as it is she's Sidona because I needed to make an avatar of her but didn't want to have to play through the whole of Origins to get screenshots of her with Anders

This has a good comparison between different centuries designs.Galagraphia wrote...
LupusYondergirl, I would love to read something about it. With pictures! I have a few Osprey books, but they are mostly about knights and templars, wrong time for corsets. And though in my fancomic I've choosen the 12-13th centuries for Ferelden, I think Orlays can be more modern. After all, they do have masks and wear feathers and stuff. I can't imagine feathers without corsets.
This is actually where I get most of my supplies from when I'm not ordering enough to go wholesale. I think, for the front busk especially, it's easier to actually see it than try to describe it.
A lot of people who make corsets use this LJ group, so you can see a bunch of different eras and styles, works in progress and finished stuff.
This is the best diagram of how they're laced and tied I've ever seen online. It isn't just a bow at the top or bottom, you actually tighten down from the top and up from the bottom, and tie two "loops" together at the waist. My only beef with it is that it shows the corset closed completely when it's laced up, which is super-bad for your spine. a gap of two or three inches is much more comfortable and nicer to your body. These pics show what I mean, but it's hard to see how they're laced in photos.
And these are a couple of mine, the first is silk, the second is cotton with PVC trim... front back front back
(The first is my from my own collection but the second's just on a pillow since I don't have a dressform as small as the owner and I don't want to post someone else's pictures online without their permission or anything. It's tiny, the closed waist on it was like 17")

Irish dad, Sicilian mom: I feel your pain. I can't go out in direct sunlight and I look like my uncle Sal if I don't shave every day.
I've had the Anders thing with the conspiracy before, actually. I think it triggers automatically if you talk to him before Ser Tamra. But then he asks about damsels in distress. (shakes fist!)
I could seriously watch the Anders thought bubble all day...

LupusYondergirl, thank you so much for the links! I'll check them at home. What you've said sounded like Anders would really have problems with Marina's clothes. Hehe, I wonder how difficult is it to breath in such thing, especially while an extremely hot mage is kissing you. I was wearing a corset on my wedding, but my mother was too afraid about my health to lace it properly.
