Anders can drink whatever you give him with such an expression that you want to take a sip too:

Right? I was flipping through my screenshots awhile back and saw a few from his Joining and thought "Anders really is an excellent advertisement for the Grey Wardens. He makes the most unglamorous parts appealing."

Top of the Page? Since this is Ritual Dismemberment Tuesday...

Aw, the way he looks at Brand...

Surely, now I'm thinking about advertisement. Imagine Anders on a poster with a goblet and his usual smirk and a slogan: "Join me!" XD Well, all new wardens would be females.

It would be awesome, though. He'd be well on his way to establishing his harem!

ETA For those who read my story, I have a straight up Brand and Anders oneshot here.

I suspect there would be plenty of males to join up, too.

Wow, that was so awesome that I forgot my english for a few moments after I'd finished reading and almost replied you in russian in a few untranslatable words XD
But... did they do it on a woollen rug? OMG, Brand is so lucky Anders is a healer. )))

LOL Thanks!

And yeah, wool rug. Of course, Brand should have gotten "I'm So Lucky Anders is a Healer" tattooed someplace prominent about five years ago.

BTW, loved the first corset of yours Lupus. The second one looked a little more like something Zevran would like.....

Haha, very true. I'm practically a living caricature anyways so I try and make my own stuff a bit understated. Thank you!

LupusYondergirl, thank you so much for the links! I'll check them at home. What you've said sounded like Anders would really have problems with Marina's clothes. Hehe, I wonder how difficult is it to breath in such thing, especially while an extremely hot mage is kissing you. I was wearing a corset on my wedding, but my mother was too afraid about my health to lace it properly.

I don't think they're at all uncomfortable, but it really depends on the person. In general any item made custom is going to be fairly comfy, though, just because it's not going to have any oddball spots where it pinches or tugs.

While I can't speak to hot mages my personal... research into hot boys in general has shown no fainting spells. Even when they look like a young Jude Law with a mohawk (oh, that was the BEST party). Perhaps a bit of skin flushing and panting, but, well, that's hot. And no, none of them can figure out how to get the thing off.

Holy.

Freaking.

Crap.

Insert firefly joke here about bunks and the retreating to them.

I think all of Anders' women need that tattoo. Poor Ser Mage, for all we know he's really into soft and sweet, and keeps finding himself with these crazed women who aren't happy unless someone's bleeding at the end.

I don't know exactly. I did Nathaniel's joining then the nobles had their party and I was going up to the woman who usually tells you and no conversation was triggering, then I saw the big exclamation mark over Anders' head and got all confused, because we literally hadn't spoken yet, so went over and clicked on him and he told me about the traitors.

I was all flattered that he was already looking out for me actually.

I got the Anders warning once. I think the difference is if you use the persuade line about how we all need to work together or whatever before you go to mingle (and it succeeds, of course). That's what I normally do and I get Ser Tamra. I didn't do it once and she wouldn't talk to me but Anders did.

She still can do it! It's not too late. And I know Anders loves tattoos on women. ;)

I was thinking to give Marina one of those first corsets which are pressing the breasts.  I must continue my research. But anyway she already fainted at least once. Maybe because Anders was too hot for her innocent dalish nature or maybe she was pretending because she's a cunning orlesian and can't be trusted!  You can never tell...

Oh god, not sad!Anders. I cannot deal.

All right, to encourage on-topic Anders discussion:

Why is it he managed to escape so many times and get brought back when most apostates are just killed?

(See: Wynne's apprentice who was only a teenager)

My theory: Healers are "worth" more to the circle since they can hire them out, so a super-healer like Anders would be like a walking coinpurse to them.

(Admittedly, my view of the chantry: very, very dark)

LupusYondergirl, I have a theory that Aneirin refused to come back and started a fight. You know teenagers, paint everything in black and white. He probably told those templars: "I'd rather die than go back with you!" And they were happy to help.

Anders is more social type, he probably surrendered and made a few jokes, charmed everyone and was delivered back to the Tower safely. I don't think templars can simply kill every mage they want if he's not a blood mage or murderer. I think Greagoir and Irving were those who could judge.

I don't know if he would just surrender. When Nathaniel asked how they found him he said "very angry, that's how"

I've heard other people suggest it could be a racism thing, since Anerin was an elf.

It seems like the attitude is all mages outside the circle are maleficar, or potentially so, since they were unsupervised. Like Duncan's friend in The Calling who was killed because he was too old to bring in as a new apprentice even though he was a teenager as well.

I wouldn't be surprised if his distaste for blood magic isn't well-known as well, so there's no fear that he's a maleficar, just apostate. Couple that with being very powerful, and I can see where the Circle might keep trying to bring him back rather than killing him outright.

We've been checked out and passed inspection, I believe. This thread has nothing on the Alistair thread, with the rampant shenanigans that go on there, and it was mainly closed for being so damn long. Posted Image

Rampant Speculation Ahoy!: While his value as a healer may be part of it, I like to think that Irving and Gregoire recognize his motivations as being personal and not about obtaining power, so any concerns they would have about his escaping were all pr related.  There are enough indications in the game to show that he's soft-hearted when it comes to others in distress, so it seems reasonable that they would know this, too, and be beyond killing him without any evidence to support his being a maleficar.

With that said, I think they would still be frustrated by his constant escaping, especially since there are authorities higher than themselves who don't require evidence to persecute him (and they can't control what a templar would do to him once he was caught).

As for Anierin, maybe he fought back and threatened the templars, whereas Anders doesn't ? He seems fairly complacent at the two points where he can be placed in templar custody, so I get the impression that he's not willing to actually hurt someone for his freedom.

Alright, another theory: Anders is not apostate. He's actually a loyalist who's working under cover and was sent to Amaranthine to infiltrate Grey Wardens and find out about all their secrets and stop them from building an army of apostates. That makes sence, doesn't it? He hates blood magic, he criticizes libertarians and he's too eager to help. And he quits the order after his visit to the Tower in epilogue (but sometimes returns).

Of course, I don't believe in that. Anders is too awesome to suspect him in espionage.

I believe Anders always surrendered. He's a reasonable man, he wouldn't start a fight without a hope to win, and I think he was usually outnumbered and his mana was instantly drained. No chance to win with such cards.

If Anders is a double agent looking for Warden blood mages he is very, very, VERY thorough.

Or really doesn't put two and two together when he has to heal Maggie's arms after every battle.

I don't doubt he surrendered. I just don't think he did it with a smile. I suspect it was with several rude comments instead.

His last name is "Bond". Anders Bond. Well, actually "Anders" is his nickname. His real name is a secret. Even Greagoir doesn't know it, only Divine knows. Or maybe only Maker.

He's just disclosed the plot of nobles in my game. His mother was probably orlesian, involved in the Game somehow no doubt.

Anders is a mystery man.

No, not cringeworthy. Hot. It was subtle, too. That's always nice and, in my opinion, harder to pull off successfully. (I never do subtle. I do full on trashy. My subtle is deeply cringeworthy.)

Anders speculation - everyone here knows who I made his father, right? One way of explaining it. But I agree with the others - he's valuable as a healer, he's NOT dangerous in the same way that other maleficar are and he hates blood magic. I also think he knows fighting back to kill would get him killed as well, so he surrenders whenever he's found.

He seems to have a really foolproof way of escaping the tower too - "I'll just escape again any way" he says to Rylock, so he wouldn't be so fussed about getting caught - not to the extent that he'd be willing to kill anyone any way.

Wow, he does. Brow line, too.

I'm actually writing a Greagoir scene right now, so seeing that pic helps get my muse moving.

(mostly since after half the day at my sewing machine my back is SCREAMING. I'm way too young for these aches and pains!).

I think it's kind of unfortunate there are so few noses in the game, actually. I don't like any of them much, and if I'm trying to make my femCousland look like me (which I always do, and always fail - of course) she ends up looking like a harridan with a hook nose and eyes that would land her straight into prison.

Someone said Alistair's nose is the same but it sooo isn't. Alistair's far more chunky than Ser Mage, which is as it should be I suppose.

I don't think they have the same noses, either. Actually, I really don't think they look that much alike, although everyone says that they do. I love both of them, but they're completely different to me!
