That was my "Let's get this over with" attempt (which is terribly in character, to be honest), so...yeah. It was pretty low-effort. However, after he sees her repeatedly fling herself into the middle of oncoming hordes, he probably prays for her to be low-effort more often.

lol I actually want to include this as a scene now too, well, without the and then part, anyways, since only Gwynlian of my Wardens even sort of romances Anders...but I wasn't planning on writing anything specifically Awakening with Kara and the post-Origins fic happens too late....maybe I'll fit it in somehow anyways.

I think the templar fight was my Anders' favorite day ever. He's managed to convince himself Maggie and Rylock were both madly in love with him and fighting out of jealousy. Maggie doesn't have the heart to tell him she was just REALLY PISSED a templar had the nerve to question her conscripting someone and defied her BFF King Alistair. Since, you know, he's hot and all but at that particular moment she was wondering just how much of a jerk he was that his ex girlfriend sent them all into templar-city in revenge.

In both Undertow and the canon, that was his "Holy crap, Brand is insanely protective" moment. Because she absolutely was not going to let them touch him or let the Chantry claim he'd done anything wrong.

In canon version, Brand is Alistair's piece. So her response to all of Rylock's nonsense is something along the lines of the Wardens being untouchable as far as the Chantry was concerned "and furthermore, I **** the crown, so shut up and leave my healer alone."

I couldn't resist it! Since it'll be Anders-less by necessity I had to give Hints of Anders at least at the beginning.

I'm replaying the original game and remembering just how awesome Zevran can be. I have to say, I really prefer his romance to Alistair's. It just seems so much more complex.
I'd imagine an official Anders romance would be similar, at least in a more than "boy meets girl, boy and girl fall in love" way. I'd think his constant running away would make it difficult to form bonds with people since he was never in the same place for long.

See, I've only done the Zev romance once with a male mage. I just can't go past Alistair unfortunately. It's the voice. And the jokes. And the innocent Chantry boy thing. My husband's a lot like him too, so if he EVER gets around to playing DA he's going to be happy that I always choose Alistair (although he would probably PREFER if I chose Leliana...). I know HE's going to choose Morrigan though. Blegh.

I adore the Zev romance with certain characters, he was perfect for my stone cold Tabris and my Aeducan. Alistair, though, obsesses me at a character level, for some reason, and it gives him the edge in the LI department.

I have canon relationships for my PCs and it's weird to have other characters that I play go with the same LI (except Leliana). Brand was supposed to end up with Leliana, since Alistair belonged to my Amell. But then I realized that being a smartass to Alistair made the romance go from sweet to kind of awesome and I decided that Brand would do everything the wrong way, bed him early and first and be his mistress until something better came along (this was before we discovered Awakening companions wouldn't be romanceable).
