He SHOULD be out - well actually technically no because he's not due until Saturday, which coincidentally is the date of our next Federal Election. Rumour has it they bring mobile voting booths round to the labour ward. Otherwise I have to postal vote, although they do let you off if you have a good excuse. Is giving birth a good excuse?

My laptop has gotten a HELL of a lot more use since my daughter was born. I used to be a PS3 girl but it's not particularly good form for her to be watching me play Assassins Creed...

To distract from the off-topicness and in homage to you Tankgirly:

Anders probably sets that darkspawn in the begining on fire with his hottiness alone :) And Velanna obviously underestimates his fireballs. She just didn't see them in all their glory!

He was being a gentleman and holding his fireballs back a bit so he didn't scare her :).

Oh, yeah, poor Velanna has so many hang-ups. XD I will remove her from party to check if Anders does more damage with his fireballs while she's not around :)

So. I just met a fellow who looked strikingly like that drawing. Not like Anders, per se, but like that drawing. I'm very tempted to go back outside and mill around at the coffeeshop until he talks to me about tattoos some more now.

Miri- So tell us, honestly... will the baby be named Anders if it's a boy? ;) (Go for it!)

I'd forgotten you guys are legally required to vote. We don't have that in the US. I've done a lot of volunteering with political campaigns and just getting people to bother to go out and vote here is a huge deal. I've spent entire days shuttling strangers back and forth from polls and going door to door trying to get people to register.

It's really pathetic, our last presidential election was one of the best turnouts in decades and we still had less than sixty percent of adults casting a vote.

And I'll admit, Velanna is often the last person I get and the one who keeps the chairs in Vigil's Keep warm for the rest of us. I play a lot of mages, and love Anders, so I just don't have a use for her. A few times I didn't even take her, just been "you're an awful person, and we're not making you a warden just so you can go chase your crazy ghoul sister around."

In my neck of the woods, I couldn't even get one of the party headquarters to come to a pretty huge event where there would be lots and lots of impressionable youth who needed to be registered. I even said "The other parties will be there with their people and their literature" and I was hit with a resounding meh.

I like Velanna, but I don't love her. I think most of my like comes from a) my desire to take Grey DeLisle out behind the gymnasium and make out with her and B) how sad she seems between Angry.

And I love the look she gives Anders if he says something about her sister being a looker. It's pretty much the perfect "I hate you so much that I cannot even fully comprehend how much I hate you" face.

All right, that look is really the perfect protective older sibling look.  And Anders, as always, is blissfully unaware and probably thinking Velenna is pretty hot, too.  Anders is the ultimate equal opportunity flirt, he sees no race or creed, simply pretty women.
I've given my male friends that look for hitting on my kid sister when we were younger.   "Dude, you're 22, she's 16.  I WILL castrate you, do not doubt it."  (granted, now said kid sister is 28, married, and expecting her first, so I don't have as much opportunity to use my look of doom.  I miss it sometimes.)

And I guess that's another reason why I like her, because I would probably be even crazier were I in her position (although she kind of brought it on herself...)

My sister is 22 now and I've just gotten over the impulse to cover her cleavage whenever there's a creepster ogling her from across the room. Now she's getting propositioned by men in their forties who look like they just got out of a PTA meeting, which is so much worse. Posted Image

Ah, I think roguish Anders will be my absolute favourite. Sorry, Anders, no more robes for you, they make you look old.

I kinda like the old-Anders look. I think it's the same reason I like KOTOR, though, and don't like Final Fantasy. Playing as a teenager just doesn't appeal to me anymore.

Actually... did we ever reach consensus on how old we thought Anders was? I'll say late 20s. He's just shy of his 30th birthday when he joins the Wardens in my fic. Older than Alistair and the Warden, but younger than Leliana and Zevran.
I peg Zevran as being mid-30s at least judging by the lines around his eyes, and Leliana comments more than once about how she is older than she looks- plus we know she would have to be at least 30 since she was born in Ferelden when it was still occupied, and moved to Orlais with her mother and her mother's employer after the occupation ended.  I think about these things.  Such is my unnecessary need to figure out the ages of characters in games.

(I think KOTOR 2 takes the cake for oldest default protagonist in an RPG. I mean, the Exile is a veteran of the Mandalorian war, and reached the rank of general... the war ended a decade before the game began. Even if she rose through the ranks quickly because she was a Jedi that would still make her at least in her early 30s.)

I don't know how old is he. But he must be older than 22, because David Gaider said that Anders is a bit too old to be Duncan's son. In my story he's close to 27 when he drinks the darkspawn blood.

I arbitrarily pegged him to be around 26 at the beginning of Awakening. To me, he looks a bit younger than Nate who has been confirmed to be 30.

I went to bed before all the voting discussion happened - but I do think compulsory voting is a good thing. It does mean the Gov in Australia never moves more than an inch to the left or right of centre - well that's not entirely true it's been inching right forever, but we did have to get over twenty years of Menzies and now we're trying to get over ten years of Howard - but if it goes too far to either side the population just votes for the path of least resistance. So very, very little ever gets DONE, but at the same time not much damage is done. Extremists don't last very well here.

As for Anders - DG has said he's older than Alistair. I pegged him as four or five years older than the warden and I peg the warden at around 20.

Compulsary voting? That sounds awful. I guess they see it as more of a civic duty rather than a right? What do they do if you won't do it? Fine you?

Yup. $300 or so. You can vote informal (turn up and get your name ticked off but submit blank forms) or if you're sick they don't mind. Sometimes they ask for a Doctor's certificate. You can also opt off the electoral roll once you get ancient (over 85 I think).

Remember we only vote for government though - we don't have to vote for things like local law enforcement and whatever else it is American's have to vote for so it's probably not as complicated as voting in the States! And election day is always on a Saturday so we don't have to take time off work to go. Mum and my sister and I usually make a day of it. Vote, have a big breakfast, then go home and watch the election on television and get happily drunk or maudlin drunk depending on who's going to win :).

Elections in Canada are fun to watch even though only about half of the people vote.

Also does Anders approve or dissaprove of killing the Archtiect?

If so why does he?

Let's see...I haven't taken him with me but I know Sigrun and Justice approve while Oghren, Velanna, and Nathaniel disapprove so I think he would approve to make things even.

Not enough Anders on this page. Do you think I risk thread shutting down if I spam this picture? I really think it SHOULD be on every page:

If this thread gets shut down because of that picture, I'll start a new one that is devoted equally to Anders and that picture, so every time it is posted will be absolutely on-topic.

And you dreaming about it is no weirder than me being jealous that you dreamt about it.
