This was my initial response to the Awakening dialogue system:

I hope they switch back to the old dialogue system. It would be ok if they refined it so you still had to take your companions out and about to unlock certain trees, but I felt really out of the loop in Awakening and feel like some relationships got rushed and others never got off the ground. I also missed hearing my travelling companions talk about me. That sounds narcissistic, but in Awakening I felt like I was a chaperone or something while in Origins, I felt like my character was much more part of the group.

I felt like Nate went from I want to kill you to "I consider you a friend" way too fast and, although he talks to Oghren about his father's death, he never talks to the PC. That seems like it could be a fascinating conversation and something that could go a long ways towards character development.

The bugs didn't bother me, except for Velanna's encounter with her clan never happening. Of course, I'm on these forums like white on rice, so I knew in advance many of the game quirks and managed to lose hours worth of playing time when the whole thing at the Silverite Mines happened.

Beyond that, I loved the game we got but would have been thrilled with more of everything (especially Anders and Sigrun).

TOP? No new screenshots, so I'll post some loltastic fanart done for me by Mel_Redux (she specializes in thses things):

I've had Velanna's encounter in both of the Awakening runs I've done so I guess it was fixed with 1.04. Either that or I'm very lucky...

Actually, I've only had the Velanna encounter once - wonder if it's just because I never have her in my party.

Yay! Firefighter Anders!

Yeah, she has to be in your party to trigger it, and it's (seemingly) random then. I guess that's pretty realistic, to be honest, but it breaks my perfectionist heart to not get the chance to do all of the companion quests.

Yes I don't have time to wander waiting for it to trigger normally and I don't like her enough to bother...

I can never get Oghren to really like me. But Anders? He loves me and I've extra gifts for him. Such a sweety pie.

No, he was paramedic. Now he's intern. They wake him up at nights and he runs to hospital to save lives. I think he'll escape eventually.

He-he, I laugh at the last sentence in codex about Anders: "Anders takes great pride in his appearance and enjoys fine things" Don't know why it makes me giggle, don't ask! =]

Good old smirk:

And Anders smut published. Well, plot too. But the smut's in there. I felt like I had to since Maggie's apparently meeting all of Ferelden one man at a time in her blight story.

I'm such a crazy completionist that when Velanna's quest wouldn't trigger, I used console commands to force it to trigger. The actual time spent figuring out the console commands took much longer than the actual quest:?

Hey, but just think, now you can use them in Origins to trigger the broken Jowan quest!

It's also thirty seconds, but hey, thirty seconds of Jowan is always good. (I realized I am a massive minority with the Jowan love, though...)

Even with all of my mages, I have never even taken the opportunity to run back downstairs at Redcliffe to have the conversation about why he turned to being a blood mage in the first place. I think I might do that this weekend and trigger his quest. Thanks to your Origins story, I'm feeling interested in him as a character again (as opposed to just feeling sorry for him for being such a sadsack/pawn).

I swear, the dialogue if you go to execute him is the most heartbreaking thing EVER. I can't even get through it, I had to read it on the toolset.

Now I always do the "get out now!" bit and set him free. Then you get the bonus quest (which is broken), but it's the only way to keep him alive.

Is there an option to get Anders executed by the Templars? I've never handed him over, but I know you can ask for mercy for him..

I think there is, actually. Can't recall, though. I just remember seeing one of them and thinking "what MONSTER would do that?"

Giggles you will have to be ritually burnt at the stake for that.

Funnily enough Anders is becoming a really useful writing tool for me at the moment. Whenever I think of what Aedan should do I think "what would Anders really HATE for him to do?" and just do that :).

Im joking..

Anders is my bro, and I would rather do the spicy shimmy in my small clothes, on top of the nearest walmart, instead of having to take Velana along.

Oh yes. I'm sure Velanna improves on acquaintance but I'm just not willing to make the effort. Morrigan was intriguing, plus she was voiced by Claudia Black who is awesome, so I made the effort with her. Velanna can push off as far as I'm concerned.

I'm in the fade with Neria at the moment and I'd forgotten how ridiculously easy it was with a mage. Mages rock. Anders and Neria are going to seriously prod buttock when she gets to Awakenings.

Mages are so OP in Awakening.
Anders I build as a pure elemental mage, with my Arcane Warrior and nothing lasts for even a minute against us.
