Do you have an idea of what kind of combat you'll be concentrating on: close quarters or more long range? And have you given any thought about your bonus power, such as whether you're willing to use a biotic bonus power for a nonbiotic class? And what difficulty are you playing at?



Of course, for all those questions, I can't much help you. Soldier class was my least favorite. But it might give others a better idea of what might help you.

I ran this build on my last playthrough. I switch back and forth between the Revenant and the Vindicator. The Revenant is a beast and I'll use it when it'll make a my life a lot easier say vs Praetorians, Scions, YMIR Mechs, etc. I have a lot more fun with the Vindicator though. I just love burst fire and semi-auto weapons though, like the BR in Halo, the Hammerburst in either Gears of War or the M16 in COD4.

I thought about trying this build though.

Flashbang is a really awesome skill, especially in Kasumi's hands since she doesn't need line of sight and the improved version has a massive AoE. It also works really well for a Soldier from a role-playing perspective. However, I'm apprehensive because the more I use Flashbang the less I use AR. Or I'll just AR a lot and forget about Flashbang. Anyone have any thoughts on this build?

For my eventually Rev Soldier run, I'm planning on building this:

4 Hardened Adrenaline Rush
4 Heavy Concussive Shot
4 Squad Disruptor Ammo
4 Squad Incendiary Ammo
0 Cryo Ammo
4 Commando
1 Neural Shock or Slam

I haven't decided on which bonus power yet.  At first I thought I would take Slam in case I felt like setting up Warp Explosions but now I'm leaning toward Neural Shock, since it disables an enemy in a standing position, perfect for the finishing headshot.  Hell I might even go 1 Concussive Shot and 4 Neural Shockwave for missions where I won't be facing any enemies with Barriers.  Yes, Flashbang Grenade would do all that and more but I don't like using it since it's so OP.

I get Hardened Adrenaline Rush, the improved Disruptor Ammo and Warp Ammo, and Commando. Everything else is just gravy. Switch ammos depending on enemy and pump them full of Adrenaline Rush' Revenant.



He's not much of a caster but I have other characters that cast. The only thing I could replace Warp Ammo with (that's not Armor Piercing) would be Neural Shock since it has such a fast cool down, helps against most enemies you'll fight in the game, and instantly kills Husks.

Quick question: does Neural Shock mess with the accuracy of an enemy regardless of defenses?

Armor piecing is redunant.Inferno ammo is effective on armor too and has an area effect.And it stops health regenration.So why people waste points for Armor piercing???

For husk killing  I recommend Slam. Neural shock doesn't instantly kill a full health abomination, Slam does.

Besides, Slam has a cool animation and hearing their zombified bodies crushing against the floor... well, never gets old.

The ratio normal husks abomination is like 1 to 10 and neural shock has an area affect.Slam is just crap because it the only biotic power that cant evolved in a such way.

If you're spending 10 skill points for husk killing there's no doubt. Neural shock is the obvious choice
But if you're spending only one, slam is better IMO.

It's been a while since my run with a soldier
But I reload a game and I just tested it. Neural shock doesn't kill abominations. It just stuns them like regular targets.

You can use it to set up a warp explosion that will get you your area of effect, though.

If you want Cryo Ammo at 4, this build won't work because of the 2 points you need to put into Disruptor Ammo in order to open up the other ammo types. You'll have to sacrifice maximizing one of the other talents in order to get Cryo Ammo at 4.

Let's explain this then, since there's confusion from multiple people.

I said Cryo Ammo and Disruptor, not Improved Cryo Ammo, Squad Cryo Ammo, Squad Disruptor Ammo, or Heavy Disruptor Ammo, to leave it completely open. You'll notice I said Inferno Ammo when I wanted it maxed out in that fashion.

You can pick a combo if you like (have both), I tried to leave those points open, as they are the last I would choose for the soldier.
