He said there is no "us" anymore, but only "me and the woman who spared Duncan´s murderer" and then he wishes you luck and goes away.

:D So he does have a spine and he's obviously using it.

It seems so.

Note to self: Don´t harden if you don´t want to fulfill his every wish.

LOL  Not sure what you expected.  A kiss?  A cookie?  Footrub?

An Alistair who understands I just needed another Warden and a strong royal couple and that it means nothing for our relationship.

Nothing to you (your PC, that is).  Everything to him.  If your PC didn't know this about Alistair, there probably wasn't much of a relationship to begin with.

It's a shame really. You convince a guy to develop a bit of spine and go for what he believe in himself, instead of just follow others, and then you get upset when he does just that.

Because the Warden can't fail. And someone who can't fail can't be criticized.

More because he talked all that stuff about "I love you forever!" and "We´ll always be together!" and so forth. It seems a bit like betrayal if he dumps you for not bowing to his wish for revenge.

Alistair doesn't say anything like this before the Landsmeet is done and the future is clear. His dialogue always hints that there may be repercussions.

He said to my Warden that he loves her more than everything. Before.

Also, I could understand it if he thinks it´s impossible when he´s king, which is why I hardened him. But that he breaks up because Loghain wasn´t killed is quite dick-like.

He is fairly non-committal actually, until the Landsmeet is resolved.  He only says that he doesn't want anyone else and that he can't imagine being without you.  However, after what he views as such a big betrayal, to him it is your PC whom he never really knew.

If I have a hardened Alistair agree to marry Anora and I spare Loghain, from what i understand Alistair will leave the party but still accept the crown and they will indeed marry and rule together. My question is that (assuming the warden lives) what is Alistair dialog like after I spare Loghain? Is it a bit more hostile than if I killed Loghain? Or is everything pretty much the same (i.e. - Alistair eventually forgives you)?

You asked so spoinler:  If Loghain dies Alistair is pretty OK with it.  I've had others disagree, so it may be a combination of how your first discussion with Alistair in Eamon's Castle Post Landsmeet AND your discussion choices post coronation.

But I got Alistair to say things worked out alright, he was happy I was successful, and he accepted his role of king.  His epilogue confirmed he and Anora made a great pair.

According to the VO notes, Alistair is not happy with the warden even if Loghain dies.  It says there's bad blood between him and the player, he's speaking stiffly and trying to be polite.  The final comment, the one about "your adoring public" is supposed to be Alistair basically saying, "Go away."

I bet he forgives the warden eventually, but it's not at the celebration!  But he and Anora do make a great ruling couple.

Sounds like he's getting some good practice for the kingship- how to tell people to kiss his ass while smiling at them.

The bottom line is that you can keep Alistair and Loghain alive, but you can never keep Loghain alive and keep Alistair as your friend. I think Addai67 put it quite well. If Alistair realizes that you are ready to keep Loghain alive, then he realizes that you are not the person he thought you were.

It's not really uncommon. If you fall madly in love with someone, it's easy to ignore the parts you don't know about him/her and fill in the blanks with your own hopes and dreams. Then as you get to know them better you may realize they are not who you thought they where. It can happen to the best, and in this instance it happened to Alistair, and maybe to the female PC too.

Can you get the WC ending even if Anora was banished and he is about to rule alone?

Or he says the "this is the best thing I can do for my country" line and charges the Archdemon regardless if he's hardened or not?

If Alistair becomes King, solo or engaged to a HNF, he will not banish Anora for not swearing fealty to him. He locks Anora in a tower, but he will also name her his heir if he dies. If he loves the PC and is with her on fort Drakon he will kill himself to save her regardless of if he is hardened or not. In which case Anora becomes Queen.

According to the VO notes . . .

Only way to learn is to ask . . . what are VO notes?

Hey - all opinions and Gaiderisms aside - my discussions with Alistair were pretty amicable to my mind.  After the Landsmeet he very heartfeltly said he didn't want our friendship to end, but that it probably has too.  That's not a balls out pissed off response to me.

At the coronation I specifically asked him if he was angry and he said "No, I'm not angry anymore.  I just . . .".  Again, he didn't sound like he was being political at all.  It was pretty genuine.

As to his "adoring public" line - it's the exact same sound byte as when he says "adoring public" when I killed Loghain.  Exact same words, same tone of voice.  So I chalk it up to sarcastic wit.  Just like his "witty one liners" throughout the entire game.

Maybe I'm the only human being on this board that chose the conversation options I chose.  Not bloody likely but maybe.

More likely I just have had the experience of parting ways with people on good terms out of necessity.  I'm told it's a very rare thing.  Most things end badly or they wouldn't end.  I guess if Alistair being a little bit sad is a bad ending then you all are right.  But I just think the guy has to be a lot angrier for it to be a poor ending.

Now when I married Anora to Alistair and kept Loghain alive with the Dark Ritual . . . that was a PO'd Alistair at the coronation.

Voice-Over notes in the Toolset to give motivation and insight to the voice actors for their characters dialogue.

Ok, so I just finished Landsmeet. I spared Loghain and Alistair got P.O.-ed and left the party but decided to marry Anora and be king as expected.

What I thought was a little lame is he is MIA now. It was Anora who comes in and talks to me after Landsmeet, it is she who gives the speeches to rally the troops and it is she in Eamon's castle when the decision is made to march to Denerim. Where the f**k is the king? Obviously sulking and doing nothing after telling me in our last conversation that he won't stand by and watch her lead. That was kinda disappointing. OK, Alistair is pissed but he should still be doing his job as king

Another question.... I was surprised that I was able to convince Alistair to marry me to rule jointly. I am not in a relationship with Alistair, I in fact dumped him as I am in a relationship with Leliana. So obviously this is a marriage for political reasons. So my question is this: Does Leliana get upset at this? Or does she not care?
