I've only made one male elf before, but since he was my "mean" character he had a runty and unattractive look because my characters' insides reflect upon their outsides.

Anyway! I'm now trying to make a younger, more attractive city elf to woo Leliana but... I'm having a hell of a time doing it. I tried, sadly for nearly an hour, to recreate this elf's look:

I gave up and tried for another half hour to make a remotely attractive 'original' elf and soon gave up on that as well.

Tips? (And I'm on PS3 so no mods for me :( )

So I take it you're only using the CC? I'd start out by using the 'general preset' elf - the bald one (the last of the presets) and then continuing from there. Here, I gave it a quick try using only the CC and no mods; of course he's not perfect, he took me a couple of minutes and needs a LOT of tweaking (especially the nose), but you get the general idea:

And don't worry, you're not the only one who's having problems creating a decent elf... ;)

This is a City Elf I threw together in 5-10 minutes in an effort to recreate my Elf that got deleted a while back. I don't mind showing you the sliders so you could maybe get an idea of where some good slider points are. I designed this off of the preset #1. This is all vanilla btw, seeing as you use a PS3.

I guess the best advice I can give is to just make sure you view your character from every possible angle, and you'll see the odd parts. And it's good that you have an idea of how you want your Elf to act, it really should help drive your creation choices. You'll get the hang of it, trust me.

Multiple pics so you can see how they look from different camera angles

@ Caladhiel: Which nose did you use for that elf? And thanks for the response :)

@ FreemanPhD: Thank-you for the screenshots and tips.

I think 80% of my problem might be that I'm a picky perfectionist.... :P

Haha, happens to the best of us.

Let us know if you ever create a character you're happy with. Good luck.

I've found that I prefer an elf with darker skin. They don't look so... pasty then.

<-- So this is the elf I finally went with. I also made a darker-skinned Dalish. I find that if you make elves with darker skin or give them a tattoo they don't look so ill/pasty/etc. I'm actually amazed how much I ended up liking the "Tamlen hair". Hahaha.

@Lady XDi - I used the first face preset.

@Sabariel - Good for you. He's definitely got that "fresh-faced youth" look going on.

Freeman, that is one good-looking elf! XD

Sabariel, I too prefer the darker skins on elves. I am on the PS3 too so I have pretty limited options. Personally, I don't like the last preset to work from. My two favorite presets are number three and gah...I don't know what number but the one with Logain's hair in red. Neither one looks good to start with, but with some changes I think they both make nice-looking elves. Your current elf is cute though. Also I find that the different complexions can make the difference between a so-so elf and a nice looking one. I also think that the elves look better with tattoos. Just one of the reasons I play the Dalish so much.

Some of the presets on PS3 have gimpy ears and my inner perfectionist just won't let me use those, lol.

So far I like the blond preset with Teagan's hair. I've used him to make both my elves.

I agree about the gimpy ears, but I suppose I have gotten kind of use to them since none of the presets' ears are as nice as the NPC elf ears. Still I use the one preset with small ears because then I can choose any hair I like without the clipping you get with the bigger ears.

Yeah, for some reason my inner perfectionist doesn't mind the "hairy ears" as much as the gimpy ears. Hahaha.

I've recently switched over to making elves, whenever i try making a human, he comes out looking almost identical to Alistair... Btw, I'm contemplating on making a rogue, are they useful whatsoever when it comes to combat?
