nooo, you can't dump ash. She is by far the best option. Tali's cool and all, but having a relationship with her doesn't make any sense at all. Its pure fan service.

You can totally dump Ash, cause when I first saw her I thought the Alliance had put a horse in pink combat armor. Though switching from ambigously brown girl to Tali Fan'service vas Normandy ain't exactly trading up in my books, but to each his own.

Personally the romances are very poorly written in ME:
Jacob and Kaiden's were baaad since Femshep goes all space lady of the night,
Jack's was so predictable, saw the ending after the first Fbomb
Miranda's was so silly and poorly done (waste of Yvonne's talents),  also Sheploo smile made me cry
Thane's was typical tragedy romance, good delivery if standard shakespearan love tale
Liara's could have been cool but her going from defending Asari, to horny was weird.
Ash was ok but nothing to go crazy over

I like Garrus and Tali since there's are the only one with a lot of depth:
Different species (while Thane has this, Asari do not count to me)
Friends becoming lovers
Are more loyal than ME1 people (especially Tali over Ash) they stand with Shepard even as friends.

DA has much better writing and charachters to me.

You may now commence ze flaming.

I'm finishing up my evil arcane warrior/blood mage elf slaying, mage killing, golem creating morrigan romancing playthrough and I must say, for an evil character such as what I was playing, she is an excellent option.

Ash is as loyal as you get. Her loyalty is to the alliance. Had she joined Cerberus (the terrorist organization) they would have kicked her out of the alliance at the least and everything the last few generations of her family worked for would have been for nothing.

Um, what? I haven't done Jacob's romance but Kaidan's is hardly like that. They sleep together once the same time everyone else does and it's after they're grounded and probably all going to die. Before that they're very worried about propriety and regs.

I personally find it so sad that she needs the approval of a bunch of politicians to be happy. I any organization blacklisted me I would moon them and go somewhere else, forget Loyalty. Besides her email is a big maybe in my books.

Also Tali works for Shepard, even though her works for Cerberus who killed dozens of her people and attacked the fleet. If Ash is unwilling to do even this for a lover then whateves, I have more important things to do. like planet scanning! FACEPALM AHOY!

Tali also got approval from the Quarian fleet to accompany Shepard while the Alliance never would have allowed Ashley to do the same.

Trust me femshep is bad with jacob, and goes for him haaard. My recollection may be shotty on Kaikai, but it was lameo to me. Although Carth was pretty cool in KOTOR, Kaidain is just so average in ME1 compared to the rest of the cast.

Then again this is my opionion, decide what you will my peeps. If you can excuse me there is a Molson for me tootles!

Bioware said you can continue the ME1 romances into ME3. But clearly you won't listen to reason.

'joker, send the shuttle to pick me up. I've had enough of giggles for one night.

It did bother me how Shepard was always 'I'm more interested in just...TALKING for a bit' whenever I tried to get a personal conversation as it wasn't like that for anyone else although I'm told male Shepard does the same for Miranda. Jacob reminded me too much of a horse for me to want anything to do with him romantically but I'm not sure why.

I agree, the problem with ME2 is that Shepard is so much more badass than anyone on the ship that everyone really just feels like a fan with the exception of former crew members from ME1. However in ME1 a little more dialogue helped offset this mary sue effect, it allowed a character to stand on their own a bit more but the massively cut down dialogue system of the sequel coupled with the fact the Shepard has now 1) Punched out Cthulhu, 2) Survived an acute case of DEATH and 3) Is now a cybernetic supersoldier killing machine is just too much. How can anyone ever really relate to that if they didn't already know the person before they became the legend?

In DA the warden is an exceptional individual by any measure but is still feels like a real person, and as such they can develop a close relationship with another person. The process of building a relationship takes place deliberately and over an extended period of time, two conversations do not generally lead to a character subsequently declaring their undying love for the player character.

All that being said for ME romances I only liked the Liara one personally, the others don't do anything for me. Just a big bucket of meh.

That's only Ashley and she does have a valid reason for it as she's still being blamed for her grandfather's surrender. It doesn't make it right but it is understandable.

That was against Ash not you. Her and Pressly were not people I liked for the vast chunk of ME1. Treating someone bad or with distrust for what they look like makes me renegade.

ah, he was talking about ashley, wasn't he. At least he didn't use the term racist. Yes, I would say she's a xenophobe. It seriously adds to her character and makes her seem more like a person. She isn't perfect, by any means, and she behaves much like a normal person would given her situation.

Nice avatar epoch. I did wish that the writing on Horizon didnt:

make you pro-cerberus! - even paragon!

make you a jerk in many places

makes you Shepard look dumb all over the place.

I wish it went different but I guess Bioware was hoping the constant plot hammers would have numbed you by that point.

Well the Liara conversation wasn't much better on Illium, though instead of epic fight and drama you get a kiss followed by a few fetch quests. Then she pours her heart out to you and Shepard doesn't really say anthing as meaningful or heartfelt back but still could have been worse.

DalishRanger you don't exist. THE INTERNETS DEMAND IT!!!

http://i1000.photobu...06203548525.jpg

 I was never one to listen to demands. And I do so love defying statistics and stereotypes. ;)

Part of it is probably because a lot (though not all) of people like to play themselves in games. Personally, I don't. I prefer creating characters different from me and walking through their shoes. I find playing males more interesting to play because it takes me further out of the familiar for me. It's fun. :D

A little more on topic - I had always intended Legam (my mage) to romance Leliana... But I had made Wardens for each LI, and planned on romancing them all at least once, just to see what they were like. I played Legam on my second time through, and after playing my Dalish (who romanced Morrigan), didn't expect much from Leli. I was pleasantly surprised and grew quite attached to her fairly quick. I took a rather silly path through Leliana's tent invitation conversation, which inspired a silly fan comic... Which eventually led to a flood of other Leli-related art - some comics, some not.

Yeah, she doesn't do a very good job does she? you'd think she'd pick up a few tips from Shepard instead of ripping off her mom.

Nobody can giggle but me on these forums. ever.

Yah ME2 was very badly written, and had more plot holes than plot.

Combat was good though, minus the bugs.
