Her expression during my Warden's funeral was the hardest moment for me in the game.

Looking at her then I realized how much my Warden meant to her and how hard she's taking his loss. Then I read in the epilogue that she may have commited suicide just to be reunited with me in the afterlife. Needless to say that was the first and last time I ever did US. I felt like a complete idiot for refusing Morrigan's offer.

Even more terrible is it that the game states that the Warden who deals the killing blow also has his/her soul destroyed and thus is completely wiped out of existence. There won't be anything left to find in the afterlife. Whether this is actually true or not is up to debate, but it's safe to assume that it is. Poor Leliana :crying:

How old is Leliana? How old was she in the DLC? The reason I ask is because Adaia is in the dungeon. So unless it's a different Adaia, and a coincidence, she would be the city elf's mother.

And depending on how old the city elf is when you start the origin, that would make Leliana in the late '30s or early '40s in Origins?

We don't know that the CE was all that young at the time. Perhaps she was in her teens?

See Morrigan was right, she's almost always right. As far as I'm concerned she's the best friend The Warden could have, she does way more for you than Alistair does.

Leliana's age is really hard to pin down, and frankly the Adaia reference only complicates things. She's in her mid to late twenties when you meet her in Lothering but she tells Zevran that she was in the Chantry for a little over two years. In the DLC she's in her early twenties so honestly the Adaia reference makes no sense at all unless of course the CE is actually much younger than we thought. In general all Orgin Wardens are around 20 years old, give or take a year or two as the player sees fit, but for this Adaia reference to make sense a CE warden would have to be at most 18 years old but prehaps younger which of course would affect Shianni's age.

Honestly I think it was just an easter egg, something that isn't really supposed to stand up to close examination since this is after all a bardic retelling of Leliana's past.

The irony is that Morrigan would make an almost perfect Grey Warden with her "Results at all cost" attitude, since she'd stop at nothing to carry out her duty.

Hardened Leliana also has a better grasp on reality than Alistair and would make a great Warden as well.

Alistair is a guy with a strong moral compass but who truly believes his actions should make the world a better pace for everyone and not simply make sure there is a world at all after the Blight.
That kind of attitude would make him an excellent paladin, but in DA it makes him a rather naive Grey Warden.

Well, Alistair practically begs you to let him have his soul destroyed instead of yours if it comes to that, so I think it is a bit of a stretch to say that Morrigan does way more for you than he. Though he often seems all to eager to play the sacrifical lamb. Does he offer to take the final blow if he's hostile towards you as well?

Yeah he does saying some crap like it's my duty as a warden to kill myself. Morrigain on the other hand allows everyone a way to live so she still beats Alistair, who just offers to kill himself instead of the player.

Yes he does. Eamon warns you if you talk to him about whether Alistair should be in the battle that he half-suspects Alistair is trying to get himself killed so he won't have to rule. If Alistair loves you, the blow is all about your love. If he's your friend he brings up how much he owes you and how he'd like to save you for once. If he hates you he's just 'yeah, you suck but I want to be the best King that I can be and right now I think it's the US.'

I think his reason for offering to take that blow has more to do with feeling guilty for not dying with Duncan and the rest of the GW's at Ostagar and not wanting to be king.

I guess he saw it as his best chance to do something important and avoid leading an entire nation.

Not sure about the hostile part. If his approval is really that low than he doesn't live past Landsmeet.

Morrigan is far more resourceful than Alistair could ever hope to be. He works with what he has. It makes me wonder just how bad his upbringing was to put such a non-value to himself and his life.

It's not like he has to become king. The game is bugged, so I have no idea what he is supposed to say if he isn't. It strikes me as odd that he would order me to make him king because he doesn't like Anora's face and then get himself killed because he doesn't want be king.

Well, that's one way of looking at it. Not my way, to put it mildly, but one way. I suppose it depends on whether you think the measure of a friend is what they can do for you.

Evidently the sequel to Dragon Age is going to be revealed tomorrow, apparently most of the gaming sites seem to be reporting it as confirmed.

I still wonder if they're going to pull a bait and switch but I mean tons of sites are saying it's DA2, so either this is Bazaar 2.0 and they're going to laugh at everyone or this might actually be the real thing. It sorta makes sense they sat on DA:O for about a year before they released it, so they'll actually have about 2 years to make the sequel which seems to be the development time for sequels from BioWare.

Probably I mean isn't that the usual way to announce a game, prehaps this is just the most epic Rick Roll ever.

Hmmm.... That makes the 2011 date for the sequel seem more likely, doesn't it? The fast turn around worries me, unless they've been working on it since Originsa was released--and from everything that's been said, they hadn't decided too many things about plot and characters for that to be the case. I just hope that it's a game like Origins, and nothing like Awakening.

It's helpful to keep in mind that pre-production probably started before DA:O was done and in addition Origins was done for almost a year before they released it so it's actually been "done" for quite some time. It was delayed when EA demanded console ports, but that work was outsourced to another compay so BioWare hasn't done large scale work on the franchise (and they've always thought of Dragon Age as a franchise) in almost a year and a half.

Edit: Also I much like others in the Morrigan thread believe that BioWare and EA purposely put David Gaider out there to wind down expectations and say vague things to keep fan intereset up. He has a well established habit of answering any question about anything regarding the future of Dragon Age, with "Maybe maybe not, we'll see."
