They didn't say pause and play epoch they didn't say pause and play. All they said was strategic, could mean anything. Also I'm so sick of people acting like Mass Effect is the end all be all of modern RPGs. However I don't care anymore.

New combat system? Damn, I don't play the games for the combat! I hate having to get used to the changes (will not admit how long it took to get used to ME2 combat).

That's just Kotaku paraphrasing the original article, though. If i recall right other sources made it more clear that the PC version of combat remains the same while the console version is getting altered to be more responsive to player's button clicks and the controller in general.

Good thing i play on the pc then.

Besides, mods alone make owning a pc version of DA worthwhile.

No word about the toolset as of yet... They haven't even given us an update for Awakening.

Quett in the Morrigan group went through the GI issue they said it remains the same but nowhere did they say pause and play. Prehaps it's just my pessimism coming through but I'll believe it's the same when I see it, they've gutted everything else why not that too just to complete the big FU to fans of Origins.

Well, if they removed the ability to pause then it would no longer stay the same, no Posted Image

I wouldn't worry about it since pause is pretty important to manage the multiple characters and heck, even ME has it so it's not like they have any reasons to remove it just because they might want to head in that game's direction.

Well they could say that it's the same since you still click on things to attack them or use talents and spells just now it's all amped up and in real time! I don't believe much of what that company says anymore, so I'll believe them when I see it for myself.

Its your pessimism. Did they mention we'll be fighting with swords? No? Well then I guess swords are out. Oh dear.

What I'm trying to say is, I hope you don't think pause and play is out simply because they didn't mention it.

I think it would be hilarious to be the only person with a gun while everyone else comes at you with swords.

It would depend if you had a light weight assault rifle like an AR-15 you might have touble actually knocking people down with your shots, whereas a sword blow to the head would put you down pretty fast. A heavy caliber belt fed machine gun like an FN MAG might be better but even then you've got to stop to change the barrel and reload.

Hello, Leli-world!

As one who won't be playing the DLC- since I like Leliana best when I can keep her at a distance- I'm curious as to what new character insights you gained from playing it.  I keep hearing that people learned more about her, but no specifics.

It just expands on her betrayal, the relationship with Marjolaine and who she was before she went into hiding in Lothering. I liked the character development in it since in the beginning she's a person with no morals and no cares and by the end she's been broken and desperately searching for a purpose to her life. It also makes Marjolaine's betrayal actually make more sense since it does in fact stem partly from Leliana's behaviour. Plus the entire dungeon sequence is just so sad and brutal, you can't really help but feel terrible for Leliana.

I wouldn't say that she has no morals in the beginning. She just feels that it's okay to kill, steal, ect. from the nobles since it's a part of 'the Game.' In Orlais all the nobles who she messes with all know what they're risking by accepting a minstrel into their court. The snitch she kills in the DLC was involved with the Game, the merchants she steals from already bought stolen goods (the sidequest summary about this even referenced 'what kind of people bought stolen goods anyway' which, while mocking, does point out Leliana's view that they weren't innocent in this), the noble she humiliates is a nobleman like the ones in Orlais are, and if the captain pissed Marjolaine off then he must have been involved in some way, too. I don't remember the exact details on their main mission but they were just supposed to plant something, right? And again, he's a nobleman (and very much involved with bards as it happens).

She's very insistent in Origins that she didn't go after innocent people and I think the DLC supports her view that she never did. I don't agree that just because everyone was in on it it made her behavior okay but she saw it as morally justifiable. She did draw the line at treason, after all, and when explaining why to Marjolaine she talked about how in Orlais the things they do were just a game and they wouldn't really get in trouble if they were caught (besides the noble's personal revenge, I guess) but that this was too serious and not a game anymore. Her morals are definitely skewed but she does still possess them and once she gets betrayed herself and tortured she wakes up and realizes that it's not all fun and games and there are real consequences to her actions.

Edit: I also really loved that conversation Marjolaine and Leliana had about the treason papers and at first Marjolaine's like 'don't worry about it, it doesn't matter' and trying to move past it but once Leliana digs her heels in you can literally see Marjolaine deciding on her betrayal even though Leliana makes it very clear she's just trying to keep her lover safe.

Ok, thanks. That gives me a good picture. So much for my theory that Leliana might still be practicing as a bard in Ferelden in Origins. I thought it was a juicy one!

Well, Leliana's Song is Leliana's version of what happened as told by her (and complete with a disclaimer that stories change with the telling and that she hasn't chosen an ending yet) so if you'd like to believe she's making it up to hide the fact she's still a bard then it's still within the realm of possibility.

Edit: I mean, I don't think she is but it could be that she's just that good. Posted Image

Awww, how adorable ^_^

Hopefully, it doesn't squeak as much as its name-giver does.

Except that The Warden is nobody to anyone and even after Ostagar they only matter to Loghain and Howe who both hate Orlesians with a passion and would never hire someone like Leliana. The whole idea of Leliana spying on The Warden and company is very Lost like, in that there is no evidence for it what so ever. Might as well say the Alistair isn't Maric's son and Eamon just wanted a back-up to ensure he'd have power over the throne.

No it doesn't. I only heard it squeak once so far when I gave her food.  The real test is at nightfall when it's fully awake, then I'll see just how noisy it really is...

I'd have to dig up my old thread where I wrote pages (ok, not quite) about this, but my theory was that she was a sleeper and not really directed to watch anyone in particular.  If anyone would be a target, probably Cailan.  But first she had to establish cred in Ferelden and hence why she was in the Chantry.  The Blight shook things up, so she had to move.  Since we first see her with Loghain's men, she could either be working for Loghain or recognizes that the Warden is someone important if the regent is looking for Wardens.  Either way she has to get out of Dodge somehow, so falling in with your party is a way she can do that while still looking to make a splash.

It wouldn't be that hard to find since you started the thread. Just go to your profile and switch the tab over to forums.
