Given that the Dalish hate the Maker and the Chantry and are obsessive about preserving the past (not to mention they had Old Gods of their own who could even be the same ones the Tevinter had), what's so Dalish about turning down the ritual and then dying for a human?

I literally atl-tabbed and closed the game when hit with the DR the first time. Then I went outside and thought about it very hard. Nothing came after a good half hour, until one little quote weaseled into my mind from years ago.

We do not fight for wealth, nor power, nor titles, or land. But it is for freedom, that we struggle for. -William Wallace

It hit me that being a Warden isint about being famous, or noble, or powerful, its about being the person who puts their life on the scales for everyone else and says " I am not a perfect elf/human/dwarf I am just a Warden." I fought for a year to end the blight I am not going to take the cowards way out in the end to summon the Cthulu monster to save my own butt.

I was not being the white knight my first time in, I was being a Grey Warden.

I love the way you heavily imply that everyone who DOES take the ritual was a coward and unfit to be a Warden.

un huh Sarah.

Eek I might die!

Time to trust Morrigan with an Old Gods soul.

Are you missing the part about Morrigan and um its an GOD anywhere?

Taking a risk like that to save your life is cowardice. I cant come to see how unleashing something that helped the Magisters nut up the golden city, and watched as thousands of people were sacrificed in their name compared to just one person dying is anything but fear and cowardice.

I was a conscript the first time so I didn't want to be a Grey Warden so the DR was a no brainer for me, in fact that it would ****** off the other Wardens and let me kill the monster and live a hero was a bonus. Eat it stupid ancient order teach you to conscript people, I'll only serve in an all volunteer force!

Yes to flip the bird properly its correct to unleash the Old God, that just spent thousands of years in madness out into the world. With Morrigan going to warp its mind to fit her.

Makes perfect sense.

Well we don't know it's going to be evil, it could be just as likely be good given all the evidence we have about the Old Gods.

Um didnt the OG's teach the magisters how to get into the Golden City, and didnt they watch as those same magisters sacrificed thousands of people everyday?

Not exactly in the happines and rainbow catagorey of any pantheon.

I like to pretend to break up w/ her just to get the "Don't give that! Don't you dare!" line.  Funny and cute.  :D
Corinne Kempa did a fantastic job w/ Leli.

I've never even contemplated breaking up with her. What does she say in this conversation you mentioned?

Tell her you want to talk about your reltionship and that you don't think it will work out.  Whan she asks why, giver her the line, "It's not you, it's me."  That's whan she goes into the hissy fit.  You can go into several options from there, all the way from insulting "Okay, it's really you" to  dutiful, "I'm a Warden and that comes first" to fearful "I'm afraid of losing you." If you choose the last she will talk you out of breaking it off and you will not lose any influence points w/ her.

^Thanks for this. Despite how much I love how her, "Don't give me that! Don't you dare..." basically translates into, "You ***hole, I've given that line!" it's still not something I could do, even for poops and giggles. I just love her way too much. FYI, thought I'd just mention that I watched the first half of Leli's DLC on YouTube. I didn't want to watch the whole thing, even though I "sort of" know how it ends -Leli tells things just a smidge differently- but I saw enough of it to fall in Love with the Bardic Princess all over again. Geek'd out at all of her sassy one liners everytime she completed a job or saw something she liked while walking around Denerim. Hope my wallet ballances out soon so I can buy this fudging thing. Yes, I know it's only 7 bucks, but some of us have Rent, Car Payments, Insurance, and that pain in the butt need to eat, so...yeah. Still, Brilliant.

We don't know that it's anything but a powerful dragon, which is what it appears to be. I'm okay with being called selfish for taking the DR but it really wasn't cowardice. I didn't want to die nor did I want Loghain or Alistair to so since I didn't really feel the DR would be apocalyptic like you see to plus it wouldn't be my problem if, thirty years into the future, the kid tries to conquer Thedas. I wasn't being afraid or cowardly although yeah, I'll cop to selfishness. Then again, I don't see what's so wrong with being selfish (in general, not in this particular situation) since for all it has negative connotations it just means putting yourself before others and there's nothing inherently wrong with that.

Besides, all Dumat supposedly taught humans to do was use blood to power their spells. That they decided to supposedly invade the Golden City and the Maker supposedly decided to turn them all into darkspawn and to plague the rest of Thedas (particularly the dwarves who can't even freaking do magic) can't really be blamed on the one act of saying 'hey, try using blood instead of lyrium.' And, again, we don't even know that's what happened. That's just the Chantry's highly biased account and given that they can't even paint the Maker in a very good light I really don't trust him at all and fully believe him to be, if he exists, a malevolent entity.

What do we know about the Old Gods? The Chantry says that their evil Maker doesn't like them and, far from driving them crazy, he put them to sleep for centuries. That's hardly damning.

So the Chantry says, maybe they're lying about it. The Chantry aren't exactly saints either with their irrational hatred of Blood Magic, calling crusades on "Heretics" and allowing Templars to gang rape apostates.

They didn't need to teach them about the Golden City, anyone could see it from the Fade and can still see the Black City. And what were these dragons supposed to do? Aside from destroying the Tevinter how were they supposed to stop the blood magic sacrifices? The Maker just made things worse by unleashing darkspawn. And who is to say that the OG even paid any attention to what the Tevinters decided to do to each other. Not bothering to stop lesser beings from killing each other does not equal 'I'm going to start an apocalypse.'

The only thing that we know for absolute certainty is that the OGs just twidled their thumbs while their followers sacrifced thousands of slaves human and elven.

While Dumat could be an interesting fellow, If he/she just sat by while that happened then he is not something I want running around. Far to many variables for me to consider it as a choice. I have done it as certain charachters, but since it comes back to fear for motivation its not a choice for me to take.

You know who else did nothing? Anyone. Including the Maker. Maybe not personally interfering with humans killing each other isn't the nicest thing (and at least they aren't held responsible for creating darkspawn like the Chantry says the Maker is) but all that would indicate is that if the demon baby is born then it will look at all the human suffering, decide it doesn't care, and do nothing. Yes, the world will surely be a darker place with it in it.

Edit: And Morrigan's child isn't Dumat anyway.

The Maker didn't do anything for anyone either, if the Old God's are really just disinterested in mortals than why would it be a concern to let one roll around in human form. It doesn't care so isn't it just like everyone else in Thedas?

Religion dosent enter my mind, since I consider belief in some divine old man hanging out behind the moon, hard to believe.

I do the US, or Loghain redeemer since I dont trust:

Morrigan,

The Dark Ritual

The Old God,

or any of the mulitple variables it can unleash.

I cant put myself or my own concerns ahead of others, especailly on the scale DA presents them on. It may lead people to think I am blind, I dont care since I know that my life will end the blight and stop it for good. With the DR we dont know that and take a blind leap of faith that things will turn out well.

I apologize for coming off harsh, or dogmatic but to me I cant risk other people's lives and freedoms for my own skin. As hard as it was to go into the final, I would rather die knowing that things were saved, then live thinking that at any minute things could explode from my own mistakes or fear.

Seeing this makes me Jealous all over again for those PC gamers who have access to all the Mods that have come out for DAO; the foremost being the great *New* Love-scenes for Leliana. I've seen one or two of them, one being almost Porn like -even as a guy I was kind of like, "Meh.."- while the other was far more like the above picture, but with a Male Warden. Also, Leli wasn't sporting the Grandma underwear which was a big plus.

Dont worry we will soon be joining you since its unlikely that DA2 will be moddable, so that DLC that EA wants to forcefeed us will block Bioware from realeasing a toolkit.

Need I remind you that ME2 did not have a toolkit, yet the Brilliant Mod community still found ways to Mod the game much in the same way as DAO. Don't ever tell a coder he/she can't do something.

You can change things in ME2, but not to the revamp levels you can in DA.

EA does not like modders, since they can make their own DLC. Meaning that EA makes less money. Which is terrible for EA.

I believe the ones you were talking about was Luchaire's Better Sex Cutscenes and TMP's Mild Romance Scenes, Luchaire's being the more explict of the two. Personally I like TMP's more since it's both tasteful but clearly passionate, plus the kiss Leliana gives a female elf is so cute! Though I will fully admit that Riona and Leliana aren't wearing anything in the screenshot I posted, the underwear dry humping is just so immature In my opinion.

I hope two gets past that since the person at Bioware who thought that would work, Is clearly a genlock.

If they return to the ME1 style than good. I can stand the ME2 ones but the scenes in DA (vanilla that is) are just eye goungily bad.

Yes. Those were the ones. TMP's is the prefered one for me. Sadly, YouTube pulled the vids for them so I only saw it once. Still...*snaps fingers* make me both love and hate the Mod community.
