I'm so glad to know that there is a Leliana love thread! Yay!

Question for you all, I've seen reference to caramel pudding in a conversation with Leliana but I have yet to ever hear it! I play on the xbox so maybe it's that? or what? What dialogue line triggers it? I need to know about pudding that involves Leliana!

Welcome to the thread ozsras.

The  Caramel pudding line is in her convo where she tells the PC she loves them, and sleeps with them for the first time. You have to ask her about love, and she tells you about it. Its plain awsome by the way.

I also love the "Dear Journal" line... seriously, her whole "let's go to bed" convo is full of win.

I also like the "Pressed Flowers" one.

I perfer the Vanilla Leliana myself.

Giggles thank you! I can't wait to try it out. XD

Btw your Robin Cousland sounds cool (and that pic - he's quite the cutie). I would love to play as an archer - sadly I suck at the archer stuff. I never know how to make a good archer. I usually just make Leli a DW as I know (some what) how to make a good DW.

With maybe some Errol Flynn mixed in for fun.

One can never go wrong with a little Errol Flynn - heck even the facial hair on males has a Errol Flynn like mustache! hee

To play a good archer:
Get a very high dex, get rapid aim, get Fal'Din's reach, and then have a bard signing away. Easy as pie. Also  a Mage running haste turns an archer into a machine gun.

Hope that helps I play Dragon Age way to much.

Ah this does! I was a bit confused because a few months ago I read where there was something buggy with the Archer line. Something about Dex not working right or was it cunning? I can't remember now - but I remember thinking that I would totally mess up a archer.

Right now I'm playing as a DW Rogue (dalish) who's romancing Leli and this is the first time I've played as a Rogue and I can tell I'm screwing up her stats and talents... There's just so many talents to choose from as a Rogue and plus there weapon line... So confusing!

The Arlathan bow is really cool. As is Marjoline's bow (that mean old cow), what about crossbows? yay or nay? I want to use them because, you know, crossbows look cool but...idk.

Anyway to get this back on topic, I've have the hardest time *not* romancing Leli. I'm pretty sure I've romanced her more times than any other companion. She's just utterly charming.

It's not too hard. Basically you need to make sure you have Lethality, Coup De Grace, Momentum, and the two hand finesse etc. Then you can fill things out as you like. Put as many points as you can into cunning/dex and use daggers.

For a DW it's a little more straight foreward but with the Archer/Rogue stuff - eh I'm never sure if getting stealth would be worth it for an Archer. Heck I don't even know if it would do anything at all since it's for backstabs right? I usually play as a warrior and protect my squishies. :D

Stealth is worth it purely for assassination purposes once you get...ugh...what the hells it called...arrow of slaying. Go into Stealth sneak into range then use Arrow of Slaying. Should be enough to kill pretty much anything. Really useful on Mages if you don't have Mana clash.

Oh wow! I had no idea it worked well with archery. This is awesome! Okay now I really need to do a archer build. You would think I would know by now since I have Leli with me most of the time but I just up her cunning and dex (to get Marj's bow) and just get all the archery trees. Or just make her a DW. I don't really have to micromanage Leli.

Part of Leli's problem is her default Tactics set her to use Rapid Fire. Once you get the Recurve you need to turn it off because it's redundant I usually switch it to Aim, and it helps to refresh her Tactic list as you get more of the Archery line.

Building a good rouge is a wee bit tricky.

The easiest one to make is this:

Get all three Passive DW talents, ignore the last since you dont need two longswords.

Get Dual Striking ASAP.

Get into the Felons Coat when you can afford it, and get the Cadash Stompers (Shale DLC)

Archery Wise, get Faldin's Reach, and proced to get Arrow of Slaying, Rapid fire, and Aim. This gives your rouge a wide range of talents. There is no best spec really but dont pick Bard if using Leliana. Ranger works wonders with a Great Bear summoned you have either a very powerful tank, or a battery for a Blood Mage. Duelist and Assassain are are a tossup Assassain is more of the passive one, where as duelist is better for a DW.

Really you just need a high dex, and cunning as a rouge. Doing the Fade first gets you some big bonuses that help early on. Also you need only a Strength of around 26 I believe to use most things you would want.

As a final note do the Shale DLC and you gain the Helm of Honnleath, and the Harvest ring both of which work wonders.

To keep this Leliana related here is a question:

What attracted you to her early on?

For me it was her accent, what can I say? I am a sucker for that sorta thing.

Stupid sexy voice. Plus I'm attracted to Tomboys, and fit girls. Yeah she's girly as all hell but she's still a tomboy.

Heh, I'm not so good with the tactics screen. I mean I do the ranged - archer for Leliana, or ranged - healer for Wynne but other than that...yeah I don't really use it much. I guess I should but for supporting (mages, rogues) party members I don't really have to worry too much about them. They hold their own fine usually. I tend to micromanage my warriors though maybe it's because I know what I'm doing there. heh!

Most of the tactics are solid. Some of them are really bad, and will get people killed. Shield Cover in the Tanking tactics once you get Shield Wall for Alistair is one of them, same with Powerful Swings, and Rapid fire once you get a bow with it built into it already.

And I'm honestly more attracted to Hardened Leliana then unhardened one. And I mean the properly Hardened one. As in the one who makes fun of Zevran, and tells him to whip it out in the middle of the street. I adore that Leli.

yeah spec's are another frustrating thing for me. Well except for duelist (if a DW) right now I'm thinking I've really screwed up my rogue and also that I'm not using Leliana or Zev correctly either. Oh boy... yeah you should see me try to play as a mage - no that's just *sad*. Warriors are easier for me because it's usually: see enemy, hit enemy, beat enemy to death, move on to next target. XD

Anyway, back to Leliana. What attracted me to her was how strong she was in her faith - and the fact that whatever you said about her vision it didn't sway her. Even when you toughen her up it still doesn't shake her foundation in her beliefs - and I respect that. I think the second thing was that she has the best giggle ever. When you try to charm her and she lets out this hilarious giggle... heee. I just love it. Plus I like having people who are just *happy* to be there. Zev and Leli make my game a lot more fun.

Have you tried her romance with her Hardening implemented properly? Very different character.

Ah yes Powerful Swings - now I do love my 2handers. It's my favorite type of warrior believe it or not I actually do really well with 2handers once I understood how they work. Oghren and Sten are so awesome to have around too. So I've just really got to read up on rogues and figure out how in the heck I should play them. I think it's the fact that rogues can be several types of things all it once that is confusing. They are so flexible in the way that you can play them that it's a bit daunting at first to play them.

I'm on the console so I don't get that. :( But either way I like both unhardened and hardened Leli. I mean in one ending she (the hardened Leli) goes to study the broodmothers. That's pretty awesome. She's like a meadieval Indiana Jones! :D

I just played Leliana's Song the other day - and oh man, I really feel bad about hardened-ing her. She's a strong woman and has been through a lot. I don't want her to think she's like Marjoline, ever. Plus the awful stuff that happend to her...yeah I can live without the threesome.

I like her hardened as well she seems more lively and more sure of herself, but retains her faith and goodness.
Though I hate how both hardening dialogue responses (her and alistair) are a bit extreme not the results, but the dialogue choices you are given.

Yeah it was a bit daunting at first but once you pick up on what's a must have it's not too bad. Hell you can end up with really deadly dual wielder, and never touch the middle of that tree.

Although I always imagine the unhardened Leliana feeling or making a song like this after the US ending. Here are the lyrics.

Yeah about hardening her the Marjoliane thing makes it hard, but my justificaiton for doing it is she doesn't need to be a part of the Chantry to do something good or be a good person, and that she can be a good person and not be like Marjoliane, but still enjoy life. There is nothing wrong with enjoying the thrill of adventure which is what I took the major conflict being adventure vs quiet life, and the Marjoliane thing being one of her concerns about being more adventurous.

Though it is really close I would say I'm like 60-40 in favor of hardening her it is a toss up. I think both ways are good for her in the end. My opinion may sway the other way after this male Cousland run where my main focus will be romancing her since I really haven't but once (on a Female Mage) a long long time ago before Leliana's Song.

Her going off to study the Broodmothers made me want to smack her, talk about a bad idea all around. Seriously I get you want to study the Darkspawn but you don't send one of your friends in the deep roads to study something she has a very real possibility of turning into should things go wrong. It's just a horrible horrible idea.

I never thought it said anything specific about what she was doing. Just that she was leading a research expedition on the darkspawn at the behest of the queen/king. Which could be numerous things.

It depends on my PC if I harden her or not.
I think I perfer the Unhardened Leliana myself. Cause really I think that her wanting to move on from her old life, and trying to be a different person is better for her. While being a bard sounds cool, I think its probably better for her to move on from her old life and try to be a new person of her own making.

Also I think this song fits the one Leliana would sing for the Warden who went US on her.
CLICK ME!. Really fits with how I think she would be feeling at the time. Also this is some awsome music.

Really I am glad the Loghain option exists in the game, because I would hate having only the US, or the DR as being the only choice.

Yeah, I really don't like the extreme dialogue options to harden Leliana. I don't know, I like the result of hardened Leliana but they way to get her hardened...eh.

Leliana's dlc was just so...sad. And awesome. I totally had her kick that horrid captain off the cliff. That s.o.b.
