I run it on my desktop but my laptop would probably handle it fine with a few graphical settings lowered. It obviously depends on the laptop. You definitely need a mouse though, playing with a touchpad would be a nightmare!

Battery Life is bad, but hey I can play DA wherever I want.

Leliana is way more interesting than most of Profs anyway.Posted Image

I use a laptop, graphics are up quite high but it lags when my party starts glowing and squirting out purple ooze... And the touch pad isn't so bad for DA, it made playing ME... Interesting, however.

I haven't tried it on my laptop yet and I probably never will.

Only half a terabyte of free space, which has been divided stupidly (100 Gb on C drive, the rest on D drive) by the manufactorer. Also a Dell i7 with 8 CPU's of ~1,86 GHz each.

Only good thing about my laptop is its video card: ATI 1 GB, though it would've been nice to have a nVidia card instead.

So chances are I'm going to let a company assemble a laptop for me with the parts I've chosen.

At any rate, I've taken my time to read through all the replies. And... perhaps you guys are right... Leliana seems to feel herself more comfortable with a woman instead of a man. But I reject that image, since it just gives me a negative feeling about the romance with her if you're playing as a male (the fact that Leliana preferred women over men nearly ruined it for me (don't ask me why, though)). Yeah, you partially have me convinced (I don't like change (I'm a autist and when something changes that I have gotten used to is kinda hard to accept), so... yeah... that's mainly the reason why I behaved so whiney and stuff... I apologize for that.).

Still, I think that Leliana cares more about the love between two persons than the gender (though she probably feels herself more comfortable with a woman than a man). But for both a male and female Warden, the endings are the same: going off in the sunset together (or staying in Denerim). So that gives me satisfaction (and I think that Leliana will eventually love a male Warden as much as she loved Marjolaine).

We'll always love Leliana, no matter what. Right? :D:wub:

And I read the part of the file that needed testing... Man, half of the stuff that stood there wasn't that clear to me... Don't blame me for being Dutch, I can't help it. :P

I've pretty much decided, for the official fix of Leliana, to keep it the way that if she's in love with a male or female post-Marjolaine, they get the declaration of love.  If the romance isn't cut off, they get the "new loves," comment that was supposed to go to males that starts the romance, and everyone else gets the friendship line.  It just doesn't make sense that a woman at any level of approval can get an "I love you" (the only women who were not getting that were women who told her, straight out, at 51+ that she had the wrong idea about her) yet a man at 100 love does not.

I'm worried it's a bit of a lore change, but I also know that if Zevran were giving a mind-blowing declaration to a male and not to a female, I'd change that as well.  Anyway, I'm looking forward to hearing what the males have to say here, and hopefully will have both an update to ZDF and a new version of the standalone Leliana part of it up within a few days.

Hmmm. I have never heard Leliana saying to a male Warden that she loves him. It would be nice indeed to hear it at least once.

Though it is a bit of a lore change, people still have the option of not installing it at all (though some things that are fixed in it will not be fixed without it). But as long as it is a bit of a lore change and not a huge game-converting lore change, I don't mind.

First of all, I don't really mind if you decide on making this change official as it won't really affect me, but I do think it's a lore change.

Every character has certain quirks that distinguish them. Zevran never ever says the words "I love you" even though he clearly does. It's part of his character. In the case of Leli, her not feeling comfortable enough to say those words to a guy is also part of her character. It doesn't mean she doesn't love them, just that she ain't as comfortable as she's with a woman.

Like if you take the threesome with Isabella, you get approval from Leli if you're a female but none if you're a male. It's little things like those that make a difference between the male and female romances with Leliana.

But like I said, I don't really mind if it's implemented. Charsen's "Gatekiss" mod allows for kissy time with Loghain. I'm pretty sure that's a lore change as well and no one's complaining!

Never said she loves a female Warden more the a male one but that her romantic preference before she met the Warden was more towards the female end of the spectrum, and the male Warden is the first man she's fallen in love with so there are times when she's isn't quite sure how to act. Doesn't mean she cares for him any less

Also at the final battle she says: "My love"

I think she may perfer women at the START of the romance, but as a male in the romance I think she comes to love them utterly like a female warden.

It just gives me a negative feeling for some reason. Don't ask me why; I don't know why either.

Just try to convince me not to feel negative over it. Try it. Do it. Now. Before I use my head to smash a hole in da wall. :wizard:

Whacka, I think she only means that she perfered women to men while doing "things"

That does not mean she dosent love the male warden, or would rather not do "things" with him.
Simply because she says "I perfer doing "things" with women" dosent mean she dosent want to do it with men, or that she dosent enjoy "things" like that. Just that she may like doing "things" with women a little more. She never said she didnt enjoy being with a man.

I had forgotten about that one! Good observation Giggles.

This really proves my point. She will come to love any Warden, male or female. It just takes more time for her to be as comfortable with a guy as she would be with a woman.

Leliana prefers males! *grin* Why do I say this? Because a male warden can start the romance far earlier than a female -- a female has to earn her trust in order to get the first romance starter whereas a male just has to be a bit flirtatious. I think it shows that Leliana feels more in control of a romance with a male than a female.

Actually, I think she likes both equally; she's slower to get into a relationship with a woman, but she seems to me to be attracted to people, not genders.

I also think it's a lore change, BUT the way it is supposed to be makes no sense either. The only way a woman doesn't get the "I love you," is if she told Leliana at the one talk that she's getting the wrong idea, or that's she's too frivolous. So a woman at neutral will most likely get an "I love you," but a man she loves will not. I don't think that particular flag was thought out too much.

My first thought was change the flag so only females at adore or love could get that line and make males at adore or love able to get the one about "new life, new loves." But then there's no romance starter at all in that conversation, and there really should be.

Also, males HAVE been getting that line; everyone has been. Should a fix take away a beautiful part of the romance, no matter what the reason? I actually think not.

For what it's worth, Zevran under one circumstance call a warden, "My Love", says "Si Amora" when selected at 100 approval (supposed to be love, but yeh, those selections are a little bugged), and also may tell the warden, "I adore you so." So it's not quite true that he doesn't speak of love, though yeh, he can't say "I love you."

Leliana WILL tell a male warden "I love you," if she's hardened. Well, the line is, "But I must have done something right--it led me to you. To love." Both males and females get that.

Edit: A different way to handle it is to make the line appear only if the romance hasn't been cut off I suppose and have them go to the written gender.  This is doable, but I'm not sure what people think about that.

Well, to be honest I view this the other way around. A male can start it earlier yes, but only if they want. Leli won't make a move.

Also, assuming that a woman likes men is a safer assumption than thinking she likes women. Of course she needs to earn some trust before she makes her move. That's the brilliance of the hair convo. She's testing the waters to see if the female warden might also be open to the idea of F/F love. And if she's not, well, she was just complimenting her hair! Nothing wrong with that.

EDIT: But like I said, I'm fine with the change, especially since it's not really even a change! It's already in the vanilla game (bugged, but it's there). She will come to love either gender equally so it's no biggie.

Huh? Oh, I see what has happened here while I was battering my head against the wall. It has this nice hole in it now... :P

At any rate, I'll just stick with that Leliana doesn't prefer any gender at all (though she might (or might not) feel slightly more comfortable with a certain gender...). She's all about persons and the love that can exist between them.

I don't like to harden Leliana, especially after all these things I've heard about that "she'll return to Orlais." Don't know if it also applies to Wardens who have romanced her, but I don't want to imagine both my Warden and Leliana going separate ways.
I hardened her once, however, but I never have gotten the line she says when her approval is at Love. I always got the same line as you would get from a unhardened Leliana.

She only goes back to Orlais if the Warden goes US on her after romancing her.

Also steam wont let me play DA since it wont update and wont let me play till it does.

I hate this error.

Since it makes me want to do this:

Yes! I tried hardening her last night and I had to revert to an older save to keep her unhardened. I don't like that plan in the slightest. The idea is for her to forget her past and move on, not to return and hunt people.

Although that plan doesn't imply a split up. You can ask her later, "what about us?" and she'll say that she doesn't want to be apart from you. So you can assume that you're both going back to Orlais.

EDIT: It doesn't matter if the plan isn't consumed, it's the idea that she has that mentality that I don't like.

Naw, I'll grab Leliana by her hair and I'll drag her back to Highever!

We ain't going anywhere other than Highever (or we'll travel the world or we stay in Denerim)!

Unless she ties me up and drags me back to Orlais. It would look awkward, too! Just imagine: The Hero of Ferelden, being tied up by a woman (no offense!) and being carried away while crying. :wizard:

That would be quite the sight, don't you agree?

But guards don't have epik fighting skills (what? did I just left out the 1337 - internet fad out there?) like the Warden has. ;)

The Warden would be somewhat harder to tie up. Especially in all that heavy armor!

And a mage would just do some poof-poof magic and disappear! :wizard:

Well my City Elf is so far the only one who hardened her.

He plans on following her wherever she goes, and dosent care where. As long as Leli, Bhalarga (His/Her dog), and Zevran are in tow than Cyrus is happy. Cant imagine Alistair will be sad to see them go after he spares Loghain.

I am tempted to write something about that though, its a total Light/Dark side crisis moment.

I would munch all that caramel pudding away! Like Pacman! *OMNOMNOMNOM* (which reminds me of the cuteness of the omnomnom song... )

And when all your armor is gone, it would be even more humiliating: the Warden, the Hero of Ferelden, being dragged back to Orlais by a woman (seriously, no offense. but I think that this is the way of thinking in those ages) while being all tied up, naked and crying.
