My Deadly Bard of War.
Giggles_Manically.
This was definitely not going well Cyrus thought as he ducked a wild strike at his head. Stabbing up with his dagger he connected with the Hurlock’s stomach and with a kick got his dagger back and ended that darkspawn’s life with a sweep from his sword through the neck. Rolling to his side to avoid being impaled by the Hurlock coming from behind him, he twisted around and stuck his dagger into the small of its back dropping it.
The party had been ambushed (again) and had been fighting a few dozen darkspawn on the way to Orzamar. He had been off ahead when the attack came and had not been able to get back yet. However from the constant sounds of fighting and war cries he knew the party was still standing.
“Anaan esaam Qun!” rang out through the trees. Sten is still standing Cyrus thought with relief, as he parried a Genlock, and with a slam from his knee he broke its face in.
“DEATH TO ALL PIGEONS!” came the boom from Shale’s voice, as a loud noise between a squish and pop followed. Picking up his pace, he tried to get to the top of the hill where the fight seems to be raging.
Suddenly around the corner two flaming darkspawn came running, not paying any heed to the elf both continued running while screaming at the tops of their lungs. Guess that accounts for Morrigan, Cyrus laughed. Side stepping a clumsy blow from a genlock, Cyrus knocked it down, and drove his sword into its guts. Tearing it out he turned and kept running for the battle, and trying not to think of companions having been hurt or killed yet.
Before he reached the battle however another Hurlock jumped at him from behind a tree, simply stepping forward he impaled his sword into it, but failed to see the Alpha coming up on him in time. Trying to pull his
sword free, he realized a little too late that it had gotten stuck in the Hurlock he had just killed.
With a powerful underhanded swing it brought a club into his stomach knocking the air clean out of him and sent him stumbling. Not leaving Cyrus time to recover the Alpha kicked him in the guts hard, hurling him up and backwards to the forest floor. The force of the impact knocked his dagger from his hand, and left him
stunned on the ground with the Alpha approaching.
Trying to see through pain and tears in his eyes Cyrus saw the Alpha and a half dozen more darkspawn approaching him. Looking up into the Alpha’s eyes Cyrus gave him the same look he had given Vaughan before decapitating him. If the darkspawn caught this Cyrus couldn’t tell, and it didn’t stop approaching him either. With an evil growl it raised is club to deliver the final blow on him.
Suddenly the Alpha stopped and with a grunt collapsed next to Cyrus with a slender arrow sticking from the back of its head. Before the other darkspawn could react another arrow flew into the face of a genlock and dropped it screaming to the ground. As far as Cyrus could tell what emerged from the forest was more a force of nature, than the woman he knew.
Firing one last time Leliana managed to put an arrow into a hurlock’s chest and kill it before she dropped her bow, and drew her two long daggers and charged the last four darkspawn. Cyrus thought he was a skilled fighter, but the display before him left him in awe.
Leliana with a quick spin took out one darkspawn’s throat, and before slamming one foot into the knee, knocking it down. When another came at her she simply side stepped its charge and let it run into her dagger, and then keel over with it stuck into its vitals.
Turning to face the last standing darkspawn she simply smiled and with a twitch hurled her dagger at it, landing it right into its throat, causing it to gurgle and die before it had hit the floor. The last darkspawn still had not gotten to its feet, because the whole time from her kicking it to now had been less than six seconds. Turning to flee it took off, but didn’t make it far since, Leliana scooped up her bow and sent an arrow after it, ending its life.
With a soft sigh she brought her bow down, and looked at the carnage around her with a sad look, that changed to an amused one, when she saw Cyrus on the ground staring at her.
“So is this how you plan on beating the blight, relaxing while I do all the work, my love?” she said in a soft Orlesian accent as she approached him.
“Um... more or less, it seems to have worked out this time though” Cyrus replied back in a wheezy voice as his breath had still not returned to him. “Also I was still doing a good job till that alpha knocked me down” he added.
“For someone who goes on about his great fighting skills, didn’t it occur to jump back?” she asked as she looked down at him with a smile.
“I know this is fun and all, but can you help me up, I think I broke more than my pride back there” Cyrus asked with as much pain from his injuries, as from his embarrassment coming out in his voice.
Pulling him to his feet, Cyrus looked around and with a rueful grin said “remind me not to get on your bad side Leli”, as he looked at the dead darkspawn. As he leaned on her, to help get back to the top of the hill.
“Oh I already thought that both of us had been all over each of our sides, I mean we certainly have had more than enough time over the past months to try.” Leliana replied with a small laugh coming out of her.
“Do you MIND?” Cyrus replied in a VERY pained voice.
“Getting on all my sides? Not in the slightest, my love” she kept at it. “I mean if I minded why would I have come to save you back there?”
“I mean you not half bad at it, but without you that would leave Zevran or Alistair” she continued. “They are nice but I would have to train another person to find all my sides again, and frankly it’s such a bother.”
If she was joking Cyrus could not tell, nor did he know what he did to deserve this, all he did know is that it was going to be a long walk back up the hill at this point.
This is about Cyrus (avatar) a City elf rouge, and a Hardened Leliana here.
Here is my entry to the prompt.
