As a Canadian, and not an American Independence Day makes me sick with jingoism although it does have "welcome to Earf" had Jeff Goldblum as the wise-cracking fighter pilot with a stripper girlfriend who saves the world from alien invasion. Plus that other guy.

Will Smith?

Maybe . . . but what matters is the star Jeff Goldblum the fighter pilot.

Will was the fighter pilot... Jeff was the computer genius

The movie in my mind is at least 1000 times better then the real one.

If they changed nothing about Independence Day except that Jeff Goldblum was the star it would be the greatest movie ever made, better than the Godfather and Casablanca combined. Also your sig is busted Zaleen you seem to have forgot the [IMG] tags.

I think we're getting a little off-topic here.

I'm American and I've never actually seen Independence Day although pretty much everyone else I know has. It just sounded too much like Armageddon and I didn't like that movie.

I think I might have enjoyed watching Avatar if there was no sound and they stopped pretending that they had a plot. And that ending...This is how it should have ended.

Sarah... I am sooo tired my brain isn't working..  what did Jake forget??

Idiot forgot that the whole reason he was sent to learn from them in the first place was so he could tell them that the humans wanted the unobtainium and to try to negotiate...which he never actually mentioned until he warned them five minutes before the humans, assuming the natives were refusing to cooperate, attacked. That's what I was saying unless it starred Jeff Goldblum instead of Will Smith then it's the greatest comedy ever made!

Well negotiations don't always have to be fair it could of been "Give us what we want our we'll nuke your planet from orbit until it's an unlivable hellscape and then take what we want anyway."

He didn't even bring it up even though that was why he was there in the first place.

Well sometimes when you have PG sex with a blue chick the looks like a sorta like a cat your priorities in life rapidly change and become inconsistent. It makes sense because.

Both independence day and avatar are great examples of how incredibly beloved non-STARTREK Sci-Fi is, and how little by way of story and science you can get away with if you put the pretty graphics in.

No, it was over Christmas break so I was at home and my mother dragged me there so I couldn't leave until the movie was over. Image IPB
