It varies a lot. You can end the romance and take an approval hit less than 5. That's an extreme case where you're not deep in the relationship and you get Leliana to dump you for Alistair's benefit. Other times you can lose almost 30 points, if you tell Morrigan she's the one for you and then you go tell Leliana the same using ill chosen words.

In general I think Leliana is the one who handles break ups the best, unless it's Zevran. She is also the only one who approves if you deny her bed time.

I thought that this thread had died, simply because few people ever visit this thread... Good to know that it isn't dead.

Recently started playing DAO again, just for creating an import file for DA2. Nearly forgot that Leliana was a LI when I encountered her... 
So I thought why not visiting this thread again, see what I (might) have been missing?

Makes me wonder though why only a few people ever post here.

Oh, and in case I haven't said it yet: congrats on reaching 250 and 300 pages!

And yes, there's just not a lot left to talk about. It's the same in the other threads really. The Alistair one keeps going strong mostly because there's a lot of off topic discussions and liberal pic spaming. Although last night's conversation was pretty interesting.

Yes, shoes. I first found Leli's obsession quite silly (how much more "girly-girl" can you get?) but later it became endearing. I was so 0_o when she made the "ooooh, shoes" comment in the Wonders of Thedas store. I guess it's one of the many influences that she has from the various experiences of her past.

One thing that has always slightly annoyed me is how Leli is the only LI who doesn't give the warden a gift. Alistair gives you the rose, Morrigan gives you the ring, Zevran gives you the earring... where's my gift Leli?!?!

Though I agree a small token of her affection to carry around would have been nice...

She'll jokingly offer up a half-eaten heel of bread and some leftover cheese as a gift if you're not in a romance with her, but if you are in a romance you don't even get that!

Well, of course! And if she's covered in caramel pudding then that's as good a gift as there can be!

Still, like Giggles said, if the song was romance specific, or just something that you could get from her would be nice. Rak72 made a mod where you get an amulet from Leliana after she tells the story of Alindra (while she gets a ring from the warden). It's certainly nice to carry an item that's restricted only to you and that has a description about how it was given to you by Leli.

And when does she offer that leftover cheese?!?

Oh, I totally agree. I would have loved to have something like that, especially in Awakening. It would have saved my PCs from religiously wearing the Seeker's Chain just to have something slightly reminiscent of her.

As for the leftover cheese, it's in the conversation that comes up after the hardening one. Give me a sec and I'll try to find the exact dialogue.

A gift from Leliana would be nice, but... As someone already has stated, Leliana is the gift. At least, for my Warden it is. 

I also think that the song she sings is worth more than the gifts from Morrigan, Zevran and Alistair together.

Yeah, both Leliana and the song are gifts to me. Only thing that was missing was a Leliana wrapped up in gift paper, with a nice bow on it. Or her jumping out of a cake...

My drawing skillz equal horrible levels, so it's too bad I can't make a picture of that...

In Morrigan's defense, jewelry is something you would give a girlfriend...
A high maintenance b*tchy one...

But yeah I never really felt the need to get a present from Leliana at all...  Maybe it's just because I like to give presents in general. *shrug* 

And even if the song isn't romance specific it still means a lot to me.  (Especially on my canon play through)
I also like to think of the Alindra story as a present, since she will only tell you that story if your romantically involved with her.

Also, a random thought about her song, I honestly think that it was meant to be romance exclusive at first. The way she sings to the warden getting up close and everything, it just feels like a somewhat romantic thing. My guess is that they decided to make it available for everyone so that no one would miss out on the amazing song.



And for the record, I don't NEED a gift from Leli. It simply would've been a nice little detail.

In Uthenera is incredibly beautiful and very meaningful...but I don't see it as a love song, well in your typical romantic sense...The animations between the Warden and Leli during the song definitely do seem intimate though.



My wardens invariably romance Leli, but with my Dalish I usually wait until the second opportunity to initiate the romance. Friends first but then slowly fall for Leli, in part due to the song, just seems more in character. So for that reason at least I'm glad you can hear the song without needing the romance flag set.

That's what I'm referring to, the animations. The song itself... yeah, not exactly a romantic song.

That's a good point you make wicked, the idea that the song is what makes the warden falls for Leli is a very nice way to roleplay the romance, something that wouldn't be possible if it were a romance only thing. Still, the animations could've been done differently for a friend warden (lazy Bioware).
