EDIT: Was that you whistling at first?

LOL, no! That's Leli too.

It might sound that way I guess because the whistling is so much louder than the humming. It's so quiet that I turned the volume on my tv all the way up just to make sure my phone it would pick it up.

Nope, as my crappy video demonstrates, it's not tied to approval. I was able to get her to hum in Lothering with approval barely above neutral.

That's weird. It only happened for me at high approval.

*Shrugs*

Ah well.

On the xbox version, all I have to do is toggle rapid fire on/off and it only takes a few tries to trigger....Haven't been able to get it on the PC version. : /

Leni will be happy, another pro for the console version! xD

You mean I get to pause during cut scenes and I have more Leli?! Posted Image

Heh, it does sound much louder, I really thought it wasn't Leli. THANKS AGAIN!!

No, you can't toggle the radial menu during cut scenes on the XBox 360.

Or at least that was the case for me.

Ah, yes, the humming... I have heard it a few times on the X-cardboard Box 360.

I hardly hear it nowadays since I always have my iPod turned on, playing different music... :P
And, unless I wrap Leliana up in heavy armor, I don't use Leliana's sustained abilities. So I haven't heard it in a while.

But yeah, it's cuuuuute *melts*

So I got accused of trolling in the Alistair thread for pointing out a character flaw or two...ludicrous but there you have it. Got me thinking, what's Leliana's most annoying characteristic for you? For me its her fervent religious faith in the Maker. At the very least my Wardens tend to agnostic or pay only lip-service to the Chantry. Actually I probably wouldn't date her in real life.

Heh, some people interpret expressing a strong dislike for a character's specific action or attitude at certain moment, as trolling. I know you weren't trolling (I saw your post and the others) but sadly that's the way many people interpret things there. Most interesting discussions are sometimes also frowned upon for not being "gush".

....

Hmm, I don't really find the religious fervor annoying because I like how she doesn't blindly follow the Chantry, rather interpreting things in her own way (which is what I do in RL anyway). Still, I can understand why it would annoy others.

As for what I would find annoying about Leli? At the risk of sounding like a blind fangirl, honestly, nothing, at least as far as a general trait is concerned.

Ok, one thing I do find very irritating is her view about how "playing" with people was fine. In that convo I always tell her that "at least violence is honest". I hate being played, so that part did annoy me.

Also, her convo when you're an elf is not her brightest moment. <_<

I personaly really liked that lol

What I do find a bit irritating is not the means, but the ends for which she did this. She was simply playing a game she admits is petty and useless. And she essentially did it for fun.

That, I didn't like at all. I do not mind using those methods for a good cause (I was in fact counting on her helping me humble the nobility in Ferelden and usher in a real state). But for fun and insignificant reasons that do not even matter to her? No.

If you harden her, she's a bit more "balanced" about it. TBH it wasn't as bad as I would have thought. Whether or not I would date her, I honestly don't know. The Lel you meet in Lothering... pfft, my Warden was ready to just back away slowly and start paying attention to something else in the hopes she would buzz off. So I don't think I would have dated her at that point. At the end of Origins, it's a bit of a tossup TBH.

Yes, true, I haven't hardened her yet in a playthrough. My first time around I couldn't bear to go through with it when she was trying so hard to be "good", and I haven't done the Marjolaine encounter yet in my current one.

Yeah I like her having faith.

Its her own personal one she believes in not what others tell her too.

Wynne is more religious then her.

@KoP

LOL, well of course you would like that!!

Personally I would never approve of playing with people's feelings even if it was for the greater good, but that's just us having different views.

But yes, the whole pettiness of the Orlesian game does make it even more annoying. I admit that while it was fun to watch her act all mischievous in her DLC, I would've never fallen for her had she remained acting like that.

Also, begone heathens who aren't gushing over Leliana!!!

*obvious sarcasm should be obvious*

Her faith is not annoying to me in the slightest. I'm agnostic myself, but I respect people who are spiritual (Leliana strikes me as distinctly more spiritual than religious), and I often find faith inspiring despite my personal cynicism. I would never write someone off just for their beliefs, particularly when they're as reasonable about it as Leliana is. She acknowledges that the Chantry is fallible and that her faith and beliefs are very much her own.

Well, she does apologize for her comments. And I like the line about how long-held beliefs can just seem natural, "as if there is only one way to feel." I'd take that as a subtle hint at how she's developing affection for the hero … if subtlety was not lost on me.

And I find her faith inspiring. It's partly why I like her.

This for me too. It's the initial conversation in which she says "what should I believe, what the Chantry says, or what I feel is right?" (or something like that anyway), that makes me accept her faith.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I love how she apologizes even if you don't blatantly ask her to apologize. I don't want to bring Alistair into the equation, but the way Alistair only apologizes if you persuade him (or use the cunning option) during the Connor/Isolde convo annoys me, in the same way that Leli's apology pleases me, because it comes out of her own will the minute she realizes she's offended you.

Yep, more than once, he showed himself, unconsciously I believe, inconsiderate. Until he realizes the obvious and apologizes (and sometimes you have to make him realize the obvious).

Leliana is different. I think she is very considerate and while she may mess up her wording, she is quick to apologize.

I guess for me its just the Maker this and Maker that grates after a while. And some of the approval losses if you're not totally in love with the Chantry.

I look forward to this elf convo.

I don't find anything annoying about her. She has har faults, but then again so does everyone. It's actually quite hard for me to get irritated by characters who were created without the intention of simply being annoying (Wynne is a bit of an exception here). I just accept whatever their faults might be and move on.

I've played characters who aren't in love with the Chantry and never had a problem with approval losses.

And yeah, the elf conversation is definitely awkward, but I appreciate that she's open-minded enough to acknowledge her misconceptions and ultimately change them. That's to her credit, imo. I actually wish there were more moments like it when the warden's origin comes up in meaningful ways.

It does bother me though that in Origins she acts like the warden is the first elf she's ever gotten to know, but then we meet Sketch in the DLC who contradicts that convo...
