But, yeah, Silas seemed like a really good guy. Having good people like him on the Chantry's side might make things interesting if, as I suspect, the Chantry gets even more heavily vilified in DA2.
(And I <3 Ariane too. I'm going to miss dual weilding warriors.)

I like LS though, its very clearly a proto-type for DA2. Framed narrative, VA'd protagonist who you couldn't choose etc.
Wow, great insight. That actually makes so much sense. A voiced character, but you could choose her responses and attitude. Maybe a Lady Hawke won't be so bad after all...
Also, with the previous conversation about the humming - I had never known about that. On the 360 I tried activating a sustained talent, and she hummed that short little tune the very first time... I don't get what the big deal about it is though.

Oh, I always let Leliana take down the bastard Raleigh herself. I think it's an empowering moment for her considering what its implied that he did to her.
TBH, I'd rather have Raleigh thrown in jail. Dead seems too easy for him, and revenge won't help you any further. It fills nothing and won't give any satisfaction. And most of the time, having succesful revenge only ruins your inner self even more.
Figured as much.HolyAvenger wrote...

It was basically an "introduction" to VA'd protagonists in DA. And it worked out well. I liked it a lot.

There's no way that could ever happen, not with all the backroom dealings and intrigue that was going on. To what authority could Leliana turn him over without implicating herself or humiliating the Chantry? If news got out about what he and Marjolaine did, it could just as easily start the war between Ferelden and Orlais that Raleigh wanted to orchestrate. There was only one way to deal with Raleigh.
And revenge is not always hollow. It can be, but it can also be very sweet, particularly if it means ridding the world of a horrifically evil man.

Wished the DLC had been set in Orlais instead and not serve as a huge retcon.

Haven't thought about that... You have a fairly good point.Face of Evil wrote...

Even though death's too easy for Raleigh, there's indeed only one way to get rid of him.
Still, I don't think that you'd have any satisfaction in the end (other than having gotten rid of a "terrible" evil in the world). And revenge is not always hollow. It can be, but it can also be very sweet, particularly if it means ridding the world of a horrifically evil man.
Well, perhaps Silas has. But I wouldn't.
And I've been there... sorta. Without the "guy who's a stain on the world and terribly evil and horrendous."
Must've given Raleigh lots of ouchies!Giggles_Manically wrote...
I liked seeing Silas boot Raleigh off the cliff.
Only THAT gave me satisfaction in the end.
...Well, for a bit.
If I could mod and if it was possible, I would've tried to change LS into the story as it was told in DAO.Wished the DLC had been set in Orlais instead and not serve as a huge retcon.

The "I will destroy your legacy" option is the only one of the three presented that seemed revenge focused to me, and I don't use it.
The other two options seem to me to be much more about justice being served (well, as close to justice being served as is possible in the DA universe) and that can definitely provide closure and satisfaction.

Agreed, it just seemed so lazy for the DLC to be set in Denerim.

A mix of opinion in the thread, as there always is. Makes successful DLC a bit of a moving target, but that’s the fun of it. Leliana’s Song was an odd duck, certainly. An experiment in a lot of ways, and you’ll see echoes of those efforts in DAII. For my nitpicky little ego I’d note that there was no retcon in the story—the high-level is narrator Leliana trying to suss out what purpose her story can have. The raw facts, what she honestly related to the Warden in the main game, can be inspirational or cautionary depending on how she presents it (how you
play her in the DLC), and that act of searching for meaning says more about her character. So, you know, ppbbthhhth.../../../images/forum/emoticons/tongue.png
The cynic in me feels like this was contrived in order to get away with reusing the same locations. But, I do like this way of looking at the DLC.

They were to cheap to make new areas and just copy pasted the old ones.
Leliana deserved more.

I had read that before. It is a contrived excuse but I like it.
And I have to say, I was never really bothered by the fact that it was set in Denerim. It doesn't really change the main point of the story which is retelling Marjolaine's betrayal.

After playing trough the beast of a DLC that was the Lair of the Shadow Broker for ME2, I just can't see how it was so hard for them to create a few new areas. DA2 better not have reused areas unless it makes sense in the context of the story. And even then, old areas should be used sparsely.

I felt the exact same way the day both Lair of the Shadow Broker and Witch Hunt came out. Really, LotSB was so full of awesome that it's not even on the same playing field as any of the DA DLC. It's unfair to compare them.
From what I've read, DA2 DLC is going to focus on filling in gaps during the 10 year time span, so I imagine that means there will be many reused areas in our future.
@Zjar- That's great! It's funny (and so cute) 'cause it's true!
