What I fear tho, is that these save file transfer issues will remain officially unfixed, and even if the fans do the devs job and fix them themselves, DA3 will only recognize the official "bugged" saves.

If the problem were in DA2, then we'd probably see a fix.  But since it's apparently in the older releases, I highly doubt the devs are going to do anything about it.

The good news is that for the most part the issues appear to be sporadic - i.e. they're not universally buggy (unlike Conrad, in which everyone got the same attitude from him).  So if someone did release a save file editor, it would probably be worthwhile to use it in order to "fix" the file you were importing from.  Due to how cumbersome it would be to import files from games that are increasingly old, I wouldn't be surprised if DA3 only imports DA2 saves and uses the data imported into DA2 from DAO instead of importing both a DAO save and a DA2 save.

I think they might be better off doing a checklist of events than a direct save importer. You have 3 preset choices and a custom import which contains an extensive checklist of events from DAO all the way through DA2.

One positive thing in Dragon Age 2 with Leliana is Corrine Kempa did an amazing job voicing her again. My heart melts when she says "Or you may call me Leliana" the way she says her name *swoon* amazing accent. Just spine tingling.

Guys I've just discovered something obvious and it's confusing my mind like you wouldn't believe. Well you probably would believe, but that's not my point!

After the Leliana encounter, I read her codex entry. It mentioned that she was the "right hand" of Divine Justinia. Then I read the codex entry related to Divine Justinia. It mentioned that before being chosen as Divine, she used to be Revered Mother Dorothea... the same Revered Mother you find in Leliana's Song.

Guys, my mind is blown. What is going on!?

Grr. I didn't harden her to become the Chantry's lapdog. She wasn't even terribly supportive of the Chantry as an institution unhardened!

That's, very interesting, I guess I shouldn't be too surpised, becuse of the that letter you get from her in awakening if you romance her In Dragon age Origins. I've always wondered  why the grand cleric wanted to see her, it makes more sense to me now.

What gets me is that they apparently not only disregard that, but whether she is alive or dead!

Leliana is a popular character sure, but Bioware shouldn't do retcons like this even if they wish to give her an important canon role in the sequels. Especially one that tramples over all of the epilogues... Posted Image

Bah. A cameo such as this is essentially fanservice, so why not give her something like a certain other returning DA:O character got: multiple different cameos that actually reflect on what was mentioned in the epilogues?

EDIT:

Also on a more superficial level, I wish they had given her a new hairdo. She had the ponytail in her DLC, would have been interesting to see something new in DA2 as well...

Well considering Dorothea gave her the idea of braided hair I don't think she'll change that much.

I sacrificed myself because I loved this girl so much ^_^ I would never bring a old god into the world and cheat on my crazy bard!

So... you'd rather that she deal with you dying than with you cheating?

This.

I'd rather not want Leliana to commit suicide.

Or, at least, that's what the epilogue seems to claim, provided she's unhardened.

Oh, but this was... quickly "remedied"... during Witch Hunt in my playthrough...

Some new Leli stuff in the DA2 SPOILER forum:

http://social.biowar...ex/6589945&lf=8

Won't quote Gaider here, but its... interesting. I'm not sure I like the implication (or some of the possible ones), even being a fan of Leliana...

Just shows that the writing team deems Leliana important to the Dragon Age universe. So much so that they're implying that if you "thought" you killed her in the urn of sacred ashes quest. She is a bard and probably knows how to feign death. And when you're warden leaves her and Wynne's dead bodies. Leliana gets back up and limps out of the mountains.

Or the Lyrium brings her back to life.

Although.... on my evil blood mage I used walking bomb... so how?

It is probably possible to decapitate her with a finishing move too... So I guess we are not meant to think much beyond this. Posted Image Posted Image

I am actually not liking this development too much, since it seems to create more and more of a singular canon future plot for Leliana. One that very likely doesn't seem to involve the Warden at all. Pfft, the happy ending with Leliana from vanilla DA:O seems to be constantly degraded, with every release they make diluting it further.

And it's making me steadily more tempted not to romance Leliana at all, but... I have no alternatives. Gargh.

So are you guys saying Leliana shouldn't seek out a life of importance just because shes with the Warden?

As long as Leliana still cares for my warden then I'm ok with what Bioware makes Leliana do... it makes sense to have her reappearing. She's a popular character with a VA that really enjoy's being her.

Plus I want DA3 to happen in Orlais and if there's no cameo of Leliana in Orlais then I will have a sad.

A life of importance with the aggressors in the current ginormous war? I think not.

I also want DA3 to take place in Tevinter.

I'm ok with Leliana haveing a life of importance with or without the warden, and it seems to me thats she's on the side that wants stop the war. Well thats my opinion anyway.

What I'm saying is that this canon role they are creating for her is taking her away from the Warden, so to speak. Since they cannot show the Warden, Leliana will always be away from him/her in her appearances. And now that they have created such a role for her, there's no saying just how major her future part might be.

I wonder how much time together Leliana and the Warden ever had? Just the one year(?) between the end of Origins and the beginning of Awakening? And then s/he disappears while Leliana is doing her chores for the Chantry? So out of the last ten years, the Warden and Leliana were together for only one? Posted Image

Bah, what happened to traveling the world together?

And there's the risk that they will end up doing something hideous with her characater, for the sake of drama.

It mentions in one of the Awakening epilogue that Leliana and the warden are spotted together in Denerim a year after the blight. Just, because she working for the chantry doesn’t mean that she’s unable to see the warden in-between missions. So they could have years together, even if they were away from each other from time to time.

^I agree
Just because she's working for the chantry doesn't even mean the warden can't be nearby...

In fact (spoiler if you import a Dalish warden Merrill thinks she sees her/him. She might just be going crazy but... I like to think Merrill saw my warden.)

Well, I guess we shall see what happens. I'm simply of the opinion the writers should have left Leliana out of the further DA stories, beyond the occasional mention (having created this ballad, or gone on that expedition with the Warden, etc.)

Who knows how big of a role she might have in DA3? I kinda think that the whole Seeker org will be an important part of future Dragon Age stories.
