Audio about Leliana "dieing"

And he didn't include her response?

(I know, I could go to DAO again and this time kill her, and advance through DA2 again just to ask that question, but... pfft, all that ain't worth it just for a response)

Here you go.

I used Gibbed's save file generator to make a Leliana dead save and the developer console to jump from the prologue to Act 3.

That is awesome! Who cares if it's handwaving... it's awesome.

Leli is unkillable... take that everyone who "killed" her in Origins! :P

I'm tempted to use that mod, but the problem is the lack of info regarding upcoming patches and how that mod fix will interact with the official fix...

Well, you can always remove that mod when the update comes out...

Wouldn't hurt to use it, right?

The mod doesn't modify your save files it only changes what DA2 does with them so it shouldn't hurt. If you remove the mod DA2 goes right back to it's buggy ways (after patch normal/good ways?). I manually set Leliana's approval to 100. Save files from Awakening/dlc (that don't feature Leliana) have it set to 0 and that's the cause of the problem.

Wow. "The Maker knew it was not my time." That's a cheap excuse BioWare used there. Why not just say "The Urn fell on my dead body and all my wounds healed instantly!"

While I don't envy those who killed Leliana, this is just a horrible retcon.

A less specific line is better because it can be used both for the "never recruited"-scenario and the "killed over ashes"-scenario. You got to streamline.

So another option is to toolset a WH save?

How would someone react if you told them an old woman's ashes fell ontop of you and brought you back to life from near death?

Meh, It's a perfect handwave. I wouldn't want to hear "The Urn fell on my dead body, I stood up, picked up my decapitated head and placed it back on my shoulders."

Sometimes a gameplay/story segregation isn't such a bad thing.

Either that or the Maker sent Quentin to the Urn of Sacred Ashes were he found Leliana's corpse, and... uh...

Wow, that's even lamer...

Yeah, pretty much this. Much like Anders in DA2, if a retcon of sorts means a potentially more interesting story, I'm up for it.

And it just proves how badass Leliana is, first surviving that stabbing from Marjolaine and then whatever the (bastard) warden did at the ashes. She's badass. :police:

Touché.

But you've gotta admit, it sounds funny. :wizard:
And besides, the ashes do heal others...

Or she used the decoy-ability from the Shadow tree, managing to escape while her decoy was being killed off.
Then I can image she would say that "The Maker blablabla yaddayadda"...

I'll just stick with the latter.

I wonder if Marjolaine could have survived also. I dunno, it's just since the 1st time I faced her in Origins I had a feeling about that evil witch reappearing in the future even if you decide to kill her. To tell the truth, I want that to happen. Marjolaine didn't suffer long enough at my hands. That needs to be rectified.

Well, if the game will ignore things like decapitations and such (and they are ignoring it), there is no reason why they couldn't bring her back.

While I understand your desire to give her a slower and more painful death (believe me, I REALLY understand that desire...), I think this is a case where only bringing her back if you let her walk away is better.

Unlike with Leli at the ashes, this is a case where the player actively seeked to kill a a character, whereas in Leli's case she attacks you without you ever expressing a desire to kill her. For that reason I feel that keeping her dead in games where she's dead would be more appropriate and only bringing her back if you actually let her walk away.

Just as long as they don't retcon out the Warden-Leliana romance, right? :P

Word. I can imagine the viscious horde of Leliana fans assaulting Bioware HQ with torches, pitchforks, and attack dogs if something bad ever happens to the romance. I'll go bat**** insane with a toaster, I kid you not.

For this particular case, I would take out my chainsaw out of my tool shed just once...

I know what I would do; it would most likely involve a flamethrower if not that I have a couple swords. However those wouldn’t’ work for what I would have in mind.

I'm not sure Leliana would approve of all this hypothetical slaughter :(

So let me get this straight, retconning her death out is OK because it can add to the story, but retconning her romance out is not because it conflicts with the events of DAO? It's OK to invalidate the choice of those who killed her, but not those who romanced her. Interesting...

(And no, I wasn't one of those that killed her. None of my runs had her dead. Some left her in Lothering, but none killed her.)

As far as I'm concerned they already retconned the romance... they already are not physically together which... in my opinion... is extremely OOC for Leliana's romance and her hopeless romantic attitude.
