I don't believe I've posted here (which shocks me). But just thought I'd drop by and show my support for Leliana! Origins contains two of my all time favorite LIs (Leliana and Morrigan).

I've done so many play throughs just to do one of their romances over and over again. Can't help it 

And just wondering, can I use the Rose of Orlais banner I've seen in here? I really love it

That dreaded "sooner then you think." has been driving me crazy. But yes I have a feeling Leliana will show up... whether we will get to react with her is my biggest curiosity.

But hoping she will be in a DLC that surrounds her, and she isn't just part of a stupid pointless cameo.

I'm wondering how they'll handle cameos from characters that Hawke can be run into in the main game, since Alistair/Leliana, etc. introduce themselves to Hawke during those meetings. It would be neat if Leliana showed up in the new DLC though. Maybe Marjolaine will too? Although I don't imagine she survived many people's playthroughs. She only lived in my first one. And she was already in Leliana's Song.

I'm sure she'll have an important role yet, just look at the other character who was handwaved back to life. I'm struggling to think of a good reason for her to be in MotA given what we know (which is admittedly very little) so I'm guessing it's another cameo if she appears at all, but on the plus side that could mean she appears again later to fulfil her main purpose.

Mike did say in the Q&A that they were planning to seed future content early on, so I'm guessing she'll appear to hint at some later content.

Yeah, i'm hoping so too.
i still don't know whether i would like Leliana as a companion for DA3 or not, at least if the warden wasn't the main character, if he is, then hell yes, but if not, then i don't, she's with my warden, and i don't know if i would like Having my Warden's girl killing around with me, so i don't think i would want her, or at the very least, not as a romancable companion.

But She HAS to appear again, in either a DLC, or, i hope, DA3, after the ending in DA2, they just can't do that to us.
And my hopes have increased, Mike Laidlaw has said that his favorite Character from DA (or at least Female Character), Was Leliana.

*Ejem* I, in the name of.... Me, Apologize for every single hurtful thing i said about Laidlaw in the past 6 months (and i've been saying A LOOOOOT of bad things about him), and i give him 100 awesome points.

Since we don't know much (anything?) about him do the forumites imagine she's illegitimate?

I guess all we can assume is that he wasn't around for long after her birth, if he was even around for that. Whether he left or died... idunno? I don't think even Leliana really knows. Considering how little she remembers of her mother I guess any information she does have about her father would have to come from Cecilie, and I doubt she was familiar enough with servants to know about their personal lives that well.

Although it's been a while since I played Origins, was her mother pregnant when she left Ferelden? Could be the father just wouldn't move to Orlais, or he could've died in the Fereldan rebellion.

As for who.. god knows. Maric?

We don't know anything about Leliana's father.  All we know is that Leliana's mother was pregnant outside of wedlock and that was something of a scandal but Lady Cecile didn't care and in fact raised Leliana after her mother's death.  So either Lady Cecile and Leliana's mother were very honest with eachother and Lady Cecile didn't care that Leliana's mom was having a sexual relationship outside of marriage (affairs don't really seem to matter to Orlesian nobles anyway) or perhaps Leliana's mother was raped and that's why Lady Cecile was so forgiving. 
Or maybe Leliana's dad is the maker.

Thanks, Nerd & Leni, for the replies, there's an awful lot of bastards following the warden around...

BTW, Yuqi I've romanced Leli several times although I'm basically an Alistair girl. Leli is sweet.
