Also, While I'm here, I learned how to edit/import/replace models in Dragon Age. May God have mercy on your souls.

If its only 5 years earlier or so, it probably wouldn't be any significant changes. So the hair change is fine by me. BUt one thing in the trailer is the lighting! My god, the first close up of Leliana's face.... whoa, the shadows and everything make her look like a zombie or something.

Much like they revamped ME's lighting system for ME2, I really really hope they overhaul the lighting for DA2. Its just flat out bad for a current gen game- the shadows on the characters aren't very good and most objects don't even have shadows or there are just static shadows all around. A much better lighting system would do wonders for DA.

Yeah, the lighting system for DA is far from ideal. It's coloured which works great in theory but it plays havoc with the tinting system, it's just too damn bright all the time. Half the skin tints bioware made are destroyed by the awful lighting system that warps the tints and oversaturates them. ME2 however is a perfect example of how to properly do a very agressive coloured lighting system that doesn't clash with the game assets.

Warning in coming wall of pics but it'll help with what I'm talking about

Posted Image
ME2's lighting system is coloured and directional as well but there seems to be much better balanced at all times than DA's lighting system
Posted Image
With Dragon Age the same principles often lead to very washed out oversaturated looks that are just bad all around and really hurt the immersion factor of the enviroments.
Posted Image
However even really extreme lighting in ME2 doesn't destroy the character as DA's does since they maintained a balance even in the extremes. The tinting system clashes with the lighting more than anything else in DA since the lighting can change the look of the various tints.
Posted Image
The Dalish forest is the worst, this armor is supposed to have a metallic purple sheen to it, however because of the lighting in the Dalish forest it looks flat and almost grey.
Posted Image
Although as with all things if you want monstorous face morphs and dreadfully overdone lighting systems Awakening has you covered. The enviromental lighting in Awakening is trash plain and simple it's total garbage without any redeeming features. Evidently Amaranthine circels a supernova or the keep is always facing a giant tire fire.

ME2's lighting does some weird things to skin color, iirc...

One big difference is that ME2 uses textures, whereas DA uses tints. Tints are versitile however they seem to "bleed"
in saturated lighting, eye colours change, skin tones lighten in addition ME2's lighting system is much more modern with dynamic lighting and full HDR support. The problem isn't weird things the problem is where light comes from, in DA light just appears out of the walls and ceiling. The intensity is very high but source has little effect on it, this is the fundamental problem with DA the light is just too intense and it's coming from everywhere in addition to their source.

I mean just in the Deep Roads, the lighting there always bugs me- I get that its supposed to be partially lit up by lava and stuff but its why are caves practically lit like a Christmas tree? In Kal Hirol in Awakening its really, really bad looking. The Deep Roads would be so much scarier and atmospheric if you had dynamic lighting and more realistic shadows...

I'm not a graphics snob necessarily, but Origins just lacks the atmosphere and environments you'd expect out of a huge epic RPG. It just seems like graphically the game is stuck in 2007 or so. And its the lack of little things like dynamic lighting or HDR that holds the game back a bit. Its just so annoying because I always think of Origins' lack of good dynamic lighting every time I go by one of the pre-fab static "god rays" points in the game. And the backdrops in the environments and the skies are horribly blah too. Ugh, I could rant more on this point but I'll stop...

So here is a pic of disgruntled Leliana about to knife a Chantry person!

This is the old Leliana as in the bard and assassin, who knows this event might end up being critical to her development in the DLC.

Is that dialogue going to work in a similar fashion to the one for Morrigan or Wynne in the Fade during the Connor quest?

Dialogue works in a similar function to Mass Effect

Have you done one with her kicking that one dog down the stairs/across the room?

Edit:

From Wiki...
Leliana: You are such a handsome dog. I think that every time I look at you.
Dog: (Happy bark!)
Leliana: Lady Cecilie--I lived with her after my mother died--had a dog. A small one, bred to fit under the arm and in the lap.
Leliana: What did she name it... oh, yes. Bon-Bon. Oh, Bon-Bon was a terror. He would hide, you know, when he saw you coming...
Leliana:And then he would attack your ankles. Razor-sharp teeth in the ankles... very painful.
Leliana: He attacked me once. Latched onto my leg. I thought it was a diseased rat and kicked. Bon-Bon flew across the room and over the banister.
Leliana: He survived, but he never came near me after that.

Check the list of her banters with other companions at Dragon Age Wikia.

Loads of stuff there you can use.

Doesn't have to be banters at all, just something you've always wanted to see her as or doing. Or I could make a banner for the thread.

Nice Pic Shiori. I think I am always going to build Leliana as a ranger now, using a grizzly is awsome.

Also has anyone heard of a mod, that if you bring Leliana or Zevran with you to Fort Drakon, you can kiss them like Alistair kisses the FemPC goodbye? I thought I saw it one the Nexus, but I believe its project page got taken down.

THNKS.

That might be a part of the Zevran Dialogue Fix mod... not sure though.

Edit: And that pic is adorable Oldman :D

It just occured to me that Leliana is the only LI who doesn't give pc a gift as a sign of her affection.

Alistair gives you a rose, Morrigan gives you her ring and Zevran gives you an earing.

I guess we could consider Leliana's song as a sign of affection if she didn't perform it for every Warden regardless of her relationship with him/her.

So, what kind of gift would you guys and gals expect to get from Leli?

Charsen's Gatekiss mod, which uses ZDF as a base.
