ME2's lighting does some weird things to skin color, iirc...
One big difference is that ME2 uses textures, whereas DA uses tints. Tints are versitile however they seem to "bleed"in saturated lighting, eye colours change, skin tones lighten in addition ME2's lighting system is much more modern with dynamic lighting and full HDR support. The problem isn't weird things the problem is where light comes from, in DA light just appears out of the walls and ceiling. The intensity is very high but source has little effect on it, this is the fundamental problem with DA the light is just too intense and it's coming from everywhere in addition to their source.
I mean just in the Deep Roads, the lighting there always bugs me- I get that its supposed to be partially lit up by lava and stuff but its why are caves practically lit like a Christmas tree? In Kal Hirol in Awakening its really, really bad looking. The Deep Roads would be so much scarier and atmospheric if you had dynamic lighting and more realistic shadows...
I'm not a graphics snob necessarily, but Origins just lacks the atmosphere and environments you'd expect out of a huge epic RPG. It just seems like graphically the game is stuck in 2007 or so. And its the lack of little things like dynamic lighting or HDR that holds the game back a bit. Its just so annoying because I always think of Origins' lack of good dynamic lighting every time I go by one of the pre-fab static "god rays" points in the game. And the backdrops in the environments and the skies are horribly blah too. Ugh, I could rant more on this point but I'll stop...
So here is a pic of disgruntled Leliana about to knife a Chantry person!
