To properly close the trilogy, we need a character creator that:

- Allows us to see Shepard's face from any angle we want.

- Allows us to customize the carry-over face without having to import it, write down the facecode and use it on a new character.

- Allows us to have Shepard say some basic lines ("Hello", "How do you do", "I don't think so") before we start the game, so that we can see how he/she looks during dialogue (cheekbones glitch anyone?). Hell, Dragon Age has this and the player character never speaks except for combat taunts and an unarticulated yell at the end of the game.

Thoughts?

Simply expanding the one in the game would probably be easier, as well as placing it at the start rather than after any unskippable cutscenes.

I doubt the character creator will be any different

But I always play as the default so I don't really care

Exactly what I want them to do.

Yeah, well, I can't quite bring myself to do that anymore. I did it for my first ME playthrough, but then I learned that defaultShep is a scan of that Vanderloo guy and now whenever I see the default face I think "underwear model". How am I supposed to save the galaxy with the face of a guy who poses in his undergarments for a living?

I'm more interested in HOW they're going to present the creator. In the first one Alliance databases concerning Shepard were corrupted, and you had to reenter them. In the second, you choose the result of your facial surgery. I'm curious how they're going to do it in the third.

You know, without killing Shepard again in the first few minutes.

It doesn't matter. If you choose to change your face or class in ME2 it was a retcon. Nobody said you looked differently and everybody recognized you

Ah, apologies. For some reason I got the feeling you meant a standalone one akin to the Dragon Age one. Image IPB

Obviously, but it'd still be cool if they presented it in a cool manner.

I'd rather have a customization system that is simply a retcon than BW warping ME3's story to justify it.

Have you done something with your hair?

Yes, a new CC would be fantastic. I can't even count the number of times I've had to start over ME and even ME2 just to get a face I could live with for the next 30 hours or so. Which meant that by the time I actually started the game, I'd used up at least 3 hours just to get a proper face.

We don't really need it "to properly close the trilogy."

To properly close the trilogy, we will import our Shepards.

The new CC won't work. Maybe you can turn around the view and that's it.

Why? Because of the face codes. They use it, they are carried through, etc.

And the old creator works well anyways, you just have to work with it carefully.

The lighting was the worst thing about both ME1's and ME2's creators.

The lips and hair models for female shepard were just horrible.

They can do much better, i'm certain.

If they add the extra hairstyles already implemented in the game but unavailable to Shepard without modification that would already be a big bonus. Wouldn't screw up the existing CC much, since they'd simply need either slightly extened codes , or a another statbloc (which could be set to default for imported chars )

And a colour-palette slider/disk for the hair and eye coloration. Because, the current shades look just horrible

They really, REALLY need to give us some better angles on the character creator. Not that it really matters when I only import. That said, I'd also like to actually be able to tweak my existing import if possible rather than have it completely reset. And the facial code working properly this time for imports would be nice too.

Yeah. They could work the angles. It killed many, many different faces I did. ME1 angles were better, but also weren't the ideal.

I just hope the character creator will allow us to upload our Shepard unto the forums.

ME1 angles were pretty much the same... which was the main problem: they didn't even change the character creator in ME2 much at all, even after dozens had asked for better angles and lighting after the first one.

The only real benefits the ME1 one had were that you didn't need to sit through an unskippable 15 minute opening to get to it and the fact that the pre-Eden Prime Normandy section actually gave you a good overall look at your Shepard from a good amount of angles and with a good selection of facial expressions, so you had a pretty good idea of how they looked by the time you had landed on Eden Prime.

That said, almost all my Shepards still needed about 7 to 12 remakes and tweaks with me noting down the sliders each time. All that could be easily avoided by just giving us access to decent camera angles from the start. Even just a good three-quarter angle on the face would do wonders.

I remember reading Christina Norman say, "I'm terrible at making faces."

I wanted to go, "No you're not, Christina! It's the character creator! The character creator!! It is so full of fail!"

I do hope we can at least tweak our imported faces. The face codes were close, but no cigar.

Shepard decides to get a facial with his LI at a spa that goes horribly wrong and so he must have facial reconstructive surgery.
