Yea 360 rotation would be nice as well. Iam tired of my Shepard having cheeks the shape of a box.

Seriously do we even need all story angle for this? It would be nice if instead of having to start a new game to edit the face we could just do so in Shepard's room, like customizing armor.

yeah something like the DA character creator would be good.

Though I'm of the opinion that Bioware spent so much money gettiing the rights to use an actual models face for the default shepard that they intentionally make custom shepards ugly as hell to "persuade" people not to :P

I get the impression that the character creator really isn't high on their list of priorities. It seems like they spent a ton of work modeling Sheploo's face, then made the character creator almost as an afterthought.

I'm more interested in HOW they're going to present the creator. In the first one Alliance databases concerning Shepard were corrupted, and you had to reenter them. In the second, you choose the result of your facial surgery. I'm curious how they're going to do it in the third.

You know, without killing Shepard again in the first few minutes.

Perhaps after the whole Cerberus nonsense the third game opens with an Alliance Admiral finding a file on Shepard in order to try and track him/her down and find out what the real deal with Shepard and Cerberus was.

I would also support a Dragon Age-style Character Creator. It would be useful to interest my friends in ME3 during the pre-launch.

Image IPB

Edit - BTW, I chose this image because it does take me 3 weeks to prepare a RP character.  Before ME1 came out, I was reading the canon (because I thought it was so crazy Bioware was making a sci-fi game that's not Star Wars-related).  I actually decided to play an Infiltrator weeks before I could buy it, as I felt that class fit the N7 specialists I was reading about the most.

I would like to use it to try out different facial expressions.  In-game context would be like it was some Alliance propoganda tool, using Shepard's face to design recruitment posters, etc.  I recall Jacob Taylor mentioning something like this.  That little bit of meta-game/4th wall is like how in ME1, when you were making a custom character, you were actually logging into the Alliance personnel database.

@ Terror K - that's a good idea, like the Alliance is putting together a profile for a BOLO (be on the look-out).

It doesn't matter. If you choose to change your face or class in ME2 it was a retcon. Nobody said you looked differently and everybody recognized you

Even when you wear a full body suit of armor.

That said, almost all my Shepards still needed about 7 to 12 remakes and tweaks with me noting down the sliders each time. All that could be easily avoided by just giving us access to decent camera angles from the start. Even just a good three-quarter angle on the face would do wonders.

Just seeing Shepard's side profile would have been enough. In every Shep I made, it was always that side angle that just completely killed the character for me.

I get that impression as well. Which is unfortunate as I don't think it would have taken a whole lot to just make it a decent CC.

i want to be able to turn my shep 360 degrees. more customization options (like more hair/nose styles) would be nice too. the facial hair is downright awful...no goddamn sideburns!

as a side note, i would like shep to take off his helmet during convo's...or just make the dlc armour in separate pieces next time.

I think that characters should be more customizable than what they were in ME 2. For example, women characters should be able to wear long hair such as Ashley or Miranda. I found it horrifying that I was restricted to short hair designs. Bioware needs to step their game up on this one because women players want beautiful characters to identify with!

Obviously, but it'd still be cool if they presented it in a cool manner.

Honestly, I would rather they just threw it in immediately after you clicked on "New Game." Attempting to put the facial creator into the narrative is simply a waste of time and usually subjects us to an unskippable scene. ME did it perfect. ME2 was bloody annoying for the aforementioned reason.

Easy setup for this game's 'face tweaking'. Assuming they don't do it like ME1. Shepard's on earth to answer for the events in ME2 and the dlc. The shot fades in to show Shepard in a private washroom, looking very sharp in dress uniforms. The shot is behind Shep's back as he/she leans over the sink, hands resting on it's sides. Shepards head comes up so that he or she is looking in the mirror. Cue the face setting screen...

All I want is more hair styles. Its easy to take one look and see how many people where using that hair style that several of the mercs where with the bangs going in front. I'd like something like that.

I'd like orange hair. The male red hair is... weird. Not that I dislike it. I honestly didn't dislike any of it, and adding gray was cool. I have the hairstyle I like (and currently have), which is why I'm satisfied, but maybe a male short haircut down, fauxhawk, ponytail, mullet, anything really, but a few more hairstyles. I know I have an orange beard and dirty blonde hair, I'd like to be able to do that with my Shepard. If not, dark red beard looks close enough. From the demo of ME3, I'm satisfied.

I kinda wish Steven and Samantha weren't just character creation people though.

In the demo your re-registering Shepard into Active Service in the Alliance Database... cos you know, he was dead then working with terrorists...
