Your conscience letting you realize you can't let anybody else have the final say?
What? Who are you? What are you talking about? Do I know you? Do I WANT to know you? Do I care what you have to say?
I'll give a Sten emphatic no to that.

As long as you keep replying, you obviously care, otherwise you wouldn't bother, now would you?

A quick question - obviously the X-box 360 is included on your list for these patches, but is this planned to fix the dex bug on the PS3 as well?
Thanks for the work you and the other devs do, it is appreciated!
Yes. In general, fixes will be cross-platform unless they relate to specific issues, like PC crashes.
Victor it was hinted at in your earlier posting that some of these crashes are due to audio problems. Do you know which cards are affected? For instance ..mine is a Real Tek 97. Is there a list somewhere that will mention which cards have problems..if indeed that is the case?
Thanks

The usability of the forums does leave much to be desired. Oh well, maybe DA2 will come with a bug fix for the forums...

This makes me quite content.
My main concern for Dragon age is that the next patch would be in 2011 or later. Even if the upcoming patch is small and gets pushed back to next week, it still means the game is being fixed. With any luck stealing and Dog's retrieving will be repaired.
Thank you.
I promise I won't nag for another 30 minutes or so.

They used to do that back in the day. I remember when Sacrifice came out I had to go on Shiny's website and look up a list of compatible sound cards. They actually had specific lists of which ones were and weren't supported back then. I also wonder if they still do this. Perhaps Victor or someone can answer.
The reason they don't do that nowadays is because with the new Windows versions and the rise in integrated technology, most "sound cards" are part of the core motherboard and interpreted by the Windows OS. So it's becoming rarer to have a dedicated sound cards now in general. I suspect 5-6 years from now the same will be of video cards, if AMD takes off with Fusion and if Intel can ever get a good integrated chip going (or buy nVidia)

I just failed to see the productivity that guy claimed his posts brought to the discussion.. Seriously, if you can't think of anything else to say other than flaming at someone because they say "I don't have any bugs", just do us all a favor and keep your hands away from the keyboard.. Here's an idea.. How about the next time someone like that has a thought.. Just let it go..

The one point I think Bioware should start studying is the effect of the forums, particularly communicating the bugs.
Actually Bioware put an emphasis on community before other developers did back in the day... unfortunately the level of content and rappor has been declining since the renewal of the forums

I hate to say it, but lately I think everything is being passed through a press-release type filter.
Yep. But this needs to happen. Victor made a couple of announcements and comments that were plain wrong (and directly contradicted by Fernando Melo within hours) so it is understandable they are trying to get the PR sorted.
YohkoOhno wrote...
Granted, all companies do that, but I'm finding that I am enjoying things like the Valve-style of releases, where you don't expect something and they grant you a surprise (the portal ARG), and where bugs are fixed in a rather quick manner, rather than the way things like Awakenings were handled, where you have a very calculated press release structure and a media blackout before set dates, and you have the forum countdown promo that actually pissed off a lot of people.
Thaat's the difference between publisher and developer, and in the DA instance developer mentality has lost to EA focused marketing. I agree with you, different approaches are nicer and seem more personal and emotionally engaging, which is ultimately better for any brand.

Its a fine line, and I understand the difficulties involved, but I think we need to get back to a more organic style of communicating these things--bugs, features, new releases, with the audience.

I don't like the drive-by "Fix your bugs you @&#!&#" types of threads, as some of these guys have never understood how difficult it is to create good bug-free software, but there's also a need to communicate the urgency of these issues, even if you have to suck up the negative pub and say "we can't afford the manpower to fix them, we are working on the new game" or some sort of honesty in that regard. (Not that I'm saying that's the case in this regard).
Yes better interaction is a must

T o be honest, I would prefer a discreet (separate) sound card even on a newer motherboard, since it's less work to be diverted to the CPU that way.

Hmm you talking laptops? I've always had a desktop, so my cards have been bought separately. Four year old computer, not sure when the next upgrade or purchase will be, money getting a bit tight lately.
Would love to have another gaming rig built however.

I put a lot of work into researching my graphics card, though.. Comparing prices, sizes, compatibility, ect.. It's not the best in the world, but for what I paid for it, its great

I never pay too much attention to the sound card, since I use a USB headset and even if the sounds starts to get bad, or whatever, I wouldn't notice over my media player..

Yes, I know what you mean. The main reason my computer has worked nearly flawlessly for almost a decade is because I LITERALLY spent 50-75 hours just doing parts research so that everything was specifically rated to work with each other part.
I'll have to do the same again. Oh boy.
