FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!!!!!!!!

Im not even freaking 21 yet!!!!!!!!

For those of you who are married and have kids, think of YOUR parents. Can you possibly imagine how different you would be today if you changed just the simple role of your mother working, and father staying home in the house and taking care of you. YOU WOULD BE A TOTALLY DIFFERENT PERSON

I dont have any child psychological B.S.!!!!!!!!!! Cause thats what the whole field of psychology is, it is B.S.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wrote a the first paper in 10th grade in highschool. Then the 2nd freshman in college and 2 weeks ago finished the 3rd for my junior research project (fing A man, im going into Biometric Security)

All right. I'm done. Have fun with your thread, kids. It seems obvious this is going nowhere but down. I'll just quietly leave now and let you have your arguments and not bother to stick my nose in for an intellectual discussion.

Baelin: If you so desire, PM me and we can have a discussion.

I'm gone.

IF you think that violence on screen or in music doesnt have an effect on a young kid, then think again. Its called "de-sensitization", the process by which you become immune to the results of certain behavior. The perfect example is GTA. Where you do what you want, when you want, and you dont have to pay for the consequences of your actions

In DA it is the same thing but your choices DO have an effect on the game (an it is also in a fantasy setting so its not real, and cant ever be real, unlike GTA)

Look, please dont take MY word for it. Before you post your opinion please find information to back yourself up. I have plenty, but now is niether the time nor place to get into a discussion about videogames and the effects on kids.

it all comes down to this.....

Would you want your kids to be playing games like GTA, or Leisure Suit Larry, The Guy game???

Again with that desensitization crap...wait until the child sees or does something like what they see in real life they wont be desensitized.Teach the kid the difference between real life and video games and none of that will happen...you would have to be a pretty crappy parent to let your kid think video game/movies are the same as real life.

For once I agree with Arttis.

Children that are taught from a young age the difference between fantasy and reality don't have problems.

Do I need to yet again stress that youth violence has been going continually down since the 70s, when video games first appeared?

The fact of the matter is that as our civilization progresses kids will be exposed to more "mature" content in one form or another.

Adults will either continue to monitor it with greater and greater vigilance or meet a breaking point and words "mature" and "adult" will lose their meaning...

No point arguing about it now, just act according to what you believe.

Wow, to think a topic can be so derailed yet still somewhat related to the original topic. *cautiously backs away out of the thread*

There's some good discussion going on here but there's too much diverging into general topics better off in the Off Topic forum. Second warning for this thread, so next one gets the lock, folks. Try to keep it DA:O.

This is exactly what i am saying!!!!!!!!

"a child left to him OR herself will bring his or her mother to shame"

Look, once again i want to say that im not out to prove you all wrong. The names like Columbine, Virginia Tech, should make you realize that there is something terribly wrong with today's parents.

Wow, that was quick. Please take discussions unrelated to DA:O to the Off Topic forum if you'd like to continue them. Thanks.
