Anyways, a Female Shepard would be much better for the movie.
Only if she romances Liara.

i really dont think they should use shep in the film, what ever version they use they will ****** off 3/4 of their fans as it wont be their version of shep, they will most like use the male/paragon version if they do use Shep so anyone who made something different wont be happy, like me, my ideal Shep is this:
Red-head female paragon, anything thing else just isnt Shep to me, despite me playing other sheps this will always be my main one

And the movie will in no way affect your game. The men in black from BioWare or Legendary Pictures arent going to kick in your door and force you to erase any Mass Effect character files that dont adhere to the movie version. Just view the movie as a one of those other Shepards. The elistist mentallity of people on these boards baffles me. We should all be excited and hopefull for the movie, obviously with a hint of cautious because of the track record of video game adaption to film. The chance that it does well however would open the Mass Effect Universe to tons of other merchandise and give BioWare a major boost to improve all future products. So what if it doesnt look like your *main* Shepard. Its the chance to make Mass Effect more than just a a simple little action/rpg within a small genre minority.

News flash cootie, fans ALWAYS dislike certain ideas. If the industry avoided doing something because the fans hate the idea, you would have very little content right now.
If the person behind the movie has the right vision and captures the essence of Mass Effect, then the fans will be happy. For instance, I hear the Prince of Persia movie is actually an OK movie, it's not great but it's not bad, but it's better than what most movies get. It had some elements that captured the essence of the game, and if Mass Effect can be done properly, I wouldn't be surprised if it became as popular as Star Wars or Star Trek.

It annoys me that they've decided to pick an actor based on looks, considering players have the option to change Shepard's appearance. Also disappointing that Shepard is still canonically male, considering that female Shepard is a more interesting and better-written character in my opinion.

LIke I keep saying, this is way too far off to worry about now. If it even happens. Look, if Halo, one of the industry's biggest franchises, can't get a movie, no one can. And after the Prince of Persia debacle, I doubt the support for these endeavors has gone up any. Personally, as much as I would love to see a ME movie, I don't think it'll pan out. Or at least it won't pan out until a long ass time from now.

Question: If so many people dislike the idea, is it a good idea to make a movie based on it?
I don't like the idea of including Shepard in the movie. I silently pray to the videogame gods that exist in my closet but only when you're not specifically looking for them that Bioware will not have Shepard as anything besides a cameo being mentioned in a piece of dialogue.
Did a lot of old Star Trek fans like the new Star Trek movie? Yes. Did many of them dislike it? Yes.
Did it affect the old series? No. Did the fact that it doesn't affect your precious old series twist opinions of the new movie? No.
Some fans still disliked it.
But of course, some people need to correct their opinions from dislike to like because a majority decides it's likeable.
The elitist mentality of people on this board baffles me.

Well to be frank, the shut-in aspbergers syndrome mentality of some of the fans seriously disturbs me.
This has real world implications. Normal people interact with these folks and then come to the conclusion that gaming alters people's ability to objectively discern reality from fantasy.
This is why you see these crusades against things like violence or sex in games. This is why you get those "concerned parents" and crusading ambulence chasing lawyers constantly picketting and boycotting and otherwise making huge annoying pains in the rear of themselves.
In a lot of ways to logical to believe that a small subset of my "fellow gamers" are agitating people who want to more or less shut down my hobby. From my perspective it would be better if they all took a Xanex and then shut the hell up, but I see that as unlikely to happen.
The end result of this, is just a lot of frustration upon the part of game hobbiests who are not insane. Sometimes it comes out ugly on forums (like now), but I equal time works that way doesn't it? If they can come up and complain about how a ME movie will totally suck because it won't be "their sheppard" on the screen, then other people have the right to come up and say, "Please take your meds and go away."
At least that's how I see it.
