The revolting teenager-y bandwagon is a bit alarming, making me significantly peeved, somewhat ticked off, thoroughly annoyed and sincerely cross.
(I dare you to come up with something a lot better, otherwise I win and the game won't be as much fun)
Obviously I was wrong in thinking that common courtesy should come naturally, instead of the unconventional sewage that dribbles out from time to time.
Thank you for informing me that that is not always the case.
Although, to stay only slightly on topic (while really I'm not), the idea of a movie based off of the Mass Effect trilogy's storyline is rather dull. Since Mass Effect is such a cinematic experience, we've already seen it happen! It already has the visual aspects that a movie can give you. So that's rather pointless in my opinion.
Now, to hop ON topic, no, Matthew Fox in the role of Shepard has not been officially confirmed at this time.
I had a nice civil response I was going to reply with, however since this is turning into more of a pissing contest I'll narrow it down to this.
The movie isnt for *us* Anyone that actually thinks that BioWare decided to make a movie for all the fans of ME1 and ME2 plus the various other media is fooling themselves. BioWare is a company and is trying to capitalize on a successful property. The movie is for everyone else. As in the general public that dont play video games or atleast the RPG genre of them. The movies arent going to affect the games, they are going to exist in their own pocket universe just like X-Men, Spiderman and all the comic book movies. If BioWare suddenly starts making choices in additional games that are affected by what happens in the movie, then I'll be the person in line complaining too. Until that happens though, or we get more information to imply that this movie is the next bomb in the long list of failed video-game to film adaption I'm going to be positive about it.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, just as everyone is entitled to debate ( yes debate not insult/belittle/or flame) against other peoples opinions.

It annoys me that they've decided to pick an actor based on looks, considering players have the option to change Shepard's appearance. Also disappointing that Shepard is still canonically male, considering that female Shepard is a more interesting and better-written character in my opinion.
There the same character, it only matters how you role play your Shepard.
The key words there being "in my opinion".

Now that I think about it, it did sound like the dribbling-comment was directed towards you. I apologise, as that was not my intention. It was directed at the wider scope of things that was presented in the previous post.
In short, it kind of escalated, but still sounded like you were the target.
I also apologise if my posting struck you as insincere. I am just having troubles with maintaining a serious attitude.
To properly respond however, I would like to say that I agree with you to a point. I do wish that Shepard isn't a part of the movie because it would make me feel silly to feel excited about a movie which I'll end up half-ignoring, kind of. It's just odd. I would probably watch it, nonetheless. I just think the money could be better spent on something we haven't explored yet. Besides, Shepard's not the most interesting character ever. Basically a walking Gary Stue.
Again, in short, I'm not so much against Shepard being in the movie, as it'd just be another alternate universe-thing, but I really think it's like missing out on an opportunity.
EDIT:

Its fine, I have a thick skin from my job. Anyways, if the movie was actually coming out of BioWare's pockets I'd agree with the concept of the money being better spent. Since most the money however is going to be from the coffers at Legendary Pictures I dont see a reason to be be worried. If the movie bombs, BioWare isnt going to go backrupt. Making the movie, isnt going to slow down the devs in Canada, or any of the other BioWare houses. Mass Effect 3 will be out long before the movie and Shepards story will be complete. At that point the only thing the movies can do is try and claim a canon for any additional ME games after Shepard's story. We have no reason at this point to suspect it so I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.
And again I dont view it as a missed opportunity. Its a chance for BioWare to gain additional fans for Mass Effect through additional media outlets. More cash flow income for BioWare is a good thing.

Not true. They have already found the actor. Some Dutch guy that looks just like Shepard.
You´re probably talking about the guy Shepard was modelled after. But that´s a model, not an actor, and I doubt they´ll choose him.
Anyways, a Female Shepard would be much better for the movie.
ARE YOU CRAZY????
