To my personal prefrances I enjoy the Widow and Mantis over the Viper. I recently noticed that I've played Infiltrator more often than not and every Infiltrator (and on Soldier) had the Widow. So I'm fine on the Sniper Rifle front to my playstyle.

However, I can never decide on what to give my Companions. Usually, Thane and Zaeed have the Mantis because it seems to do the most damage and they both have a 50% Weapons Damage Passive (and Companions do 45% less damage than Shepard) so I want them to do a load of damage. Garrus is left with the Viper but I usually just keep the Vidicator and Legion gets to hold the Widow.

The biggest question comes with...is this the right configurment? The Sniper Rifle is the only weapon in the game where I'm really confused on which to give to the Companions. Since Thane and Zaeed do more damage than Garrus and Legion is it a mistake to give them a bolt-action rifle over the semi-automatic?

Um, no it's not.  The M82A is chambered for the .50 calibre BMG round, while the XM109 is chambered for a 25 X 59 MM round.  SIGNIFIGANTLY larger round.

Oh, no doubt, the M82A1 is a great weapon, and I'd much rather have that than nothing...but c'mon, a Barrett sniper rifle chambered for a 25mm round?  Makes my hands itch to get ahold of one with a couple of crates of ammo, and camp myself on a gun range for the next week or so.

Yea, thats a pretty hefty round..........not cheap to shoot though! A box of 50. cal last time I checked goes for around 6 bucks a round.

Sure.  You gotta bring your own doughnuts, though.  And coffee.
