 Heya everyone.
I reskined a model of house and I wonder how is it possible to add it into the toolset. Cause Ive been trying to find any .xls file available but couldnt find suitable one (though its possible there is one, I havent opened them all yet).

Anyone know how? Would be very helpfull to me.

Thanks!

firstly, you dont need to make and changes to the 2das for this, so you wont find anything useful in the xls files.

if you are replacing the texture and overiding, you need only name your maps (diffuse only i guess?) exactly as the DA one is named and drop it in one of your core overrides.

however, if you want to add this to be an alternative (rather than replacing the original), its a little more involved... you need to duplicate the model you're skinning, use the toolset to open the files and rename the models and their references to materials. then change the material to use your new textures name and drop all the new files in your override. If this is what you want to do i can provide more detailed steps, or find a tutorial for you (im sure theres one someplace).

There's some info on model file editing in a post I made a while back - http://social.biowar...x/477326#486010 Just make copies with custom file names and use those in the appropriate fields.

Just one more question, I managed to import it all, and I shows nicely in level editing, but once in area, the texture is the old one. I probably need to create .gda file as well, any thoughts?

what distance are you from it? check at multiple distances - in-game, several Levels Of Detail (LODs) are used. If you have not replaced all instances of the texture, you'll get different results at different distances. that may be your problem.

nah havent really checked it in game, it doesnt show in toolset area, too so there was no point in trying to export it further

okay well be sure to replace the levels of detail (blah_0d, blah _0dl2, blah_0dl3) if youre overwriting something. if you still have the issue, then perhaps share your files and ill take a look.

how would i kill you?! :P

share up your stuff (any way you know how is fine) and ill see whats up. be sure to include everything relevant youve got in your override so I can reproduce what you're seeing.

ponozsticka,

In DATool, the "Options" menu, there is an option called "Toggle LOD mode [ON]". Choose that option and switch to next model. Then you will see the the "l2". Swith to next model again and that is the "l3" models.

okay, ive had a look at what youve got. I wasnt able to reproduce your problem but have identified two things that look suspicious.

First thing: youve not saved your dds with the "generate mipmaps" option on. You MUST use this. Secondly, your texture is named fhe_master_d1.dds - You've added a 1 to the name to make the texture unique, but as bad luck would have it, thats the same way the engine identifies what LOD the texture is... except that 1 is not used, only d, d2 and d3 suffixes.

So, resave your dds with mipmaps on, and save it as something like: "fhe_master_stone_d.dds" and adjust the line in your .mao to match the new name.

Sorry im not able to try this, since ive not reproduced your issue... but i have a strong feeling one of those things will fix it.
