Just an idea for ME 3 to give EDI a bigger role as a party member, completely stolen idea from the old T.V show "Andromeda" but one i find interesting nonetheless. I rather enjoyed EDI in ME2 , a AI with a sense of humor and the banter with Jeff.

Good/bad idea?

Ok, first off lol @ that link Lemonwizard, i got a kick out of that :)

Secondly, those saying bad idea, any particular reasoning? Doesn't fit the lore etc? It would appear at least from ME2 that several squadmates will not be returning, such as Thane (who is dying) , Samara told us she will be leaving after our suicide mission just to name 2.

And lastly, of course she would make great sammiches ;)

God I hope not. It was bad enough that fan outcry wound up turning the geth into good guys. Let's not turn EDI into an actual squadmate.

No. The Geth being a split division is enough. Besides she's a ship AI. She has no real combat tactics that Legion won't already have, other than ship hacking, which, sure, might be great against the Reapers... but Mass Effect is a ground combat game.

So, no.

To be honest, I'm not sure that the geth/heretic storyline was created because of fan outcry.  It wouldn't surprise me, necessarily, but it could easily have been in "The Plan" from the beginning.

However, I agree with you about EDI.  I prefer her in the role she had in ME2.  I actually wish Bioware had done more where EDI jumps in during the mission:  "Shepard, sensors indicate an enemy squad approaching from the east.  ETA to your location, two minutes."  etc, etc.  Yes, they did this a good bit in ME2, but I liked it, so I wish there had been more.

Just my opinion, though.

No, EDI will get an anatomically correct gynoid body. This is a fact.

When did that ever happen?

If you talk to Tali in ME1 you've got plenty of options to sympathize with the Geth for, you know, not wanting to be slaves or be destroyed.

She is powerful enough to commandeer the Normandy pretty much by herself, why would she limit herself to a body?

Besides, I think she is too big and the transaction would most likely be a rebirth for her.

Why not just make the Normandy 3 herself the love interest ? http://en.wikipedia....ip_Who_Searched

Never said anything about EDI being a love interest, that would be rather silly imo. Simply an idea to give her a "body" so she could accompany you on missions, or just have her walk around the ship, hell, even an Aveena type interface would be an improvement over a blue glowing ball /shrug

Did you read the codex entry about AI, where it discusses that transferring an AI to a different bluebox changes its personality in unpredictable ways so nobody ever does it?

Also, if EDI is on the ground fighting with you, who's running mission control back home? Her hacking and information providing is very valuable.

This is where the Geth tech would come in, it would be akin to how Legion is a "mobile platform" , also, being an AI EDI would be able to multitask (be in more than 1 place at a time) very easily .
