I recently bought Dragon Age: Origins, and upon attempting to install it I was met with this error: "The Installation of Dragon Age: Origins has failed. A Data error has occured." I have looked online and have read that setting it to run in compatibility mode for Windows 2000 should make it install, yet this has not worked for me. It is the UK version of Dragon Age, and I am on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.

Having exact same issue win 64bit ultimate. Getting about 75% done then i get a data error. I hope we can find a fix for this.

Thanks for the reply, Gorath. I have currently downloading the game from the EA download manager, so hopefully that will work.

It's been a popular answer to the situation (it's a workaround response to a mistake on EA's part that should have fixed by now from their end, but so very typical for an EA game, remains screwed up eight months later).

I downloaded the game from EA Download manager but that wouldn't install either, so I went about fixing the problem itself. I tested all the archives using winrar and 7zip, then when I found errors (and there were lots) I unpacked the archive from the download and did the same to the one on the disk (there were corrupt files on the disk as well, different files were corrupt though), I then replaced the corrupted file with the one on the disk, then repacked it and replaced the original in the EA download manager's cache. Eventualy I got through them all and the game installed like normal, so the problem with the disk and the download is that the archives are corrupt, its a shame EA haven't fixed this problem, but to anyone who had the same problem try what I did, it takes a while (like a whole day) but it worked for me.
