Obviously that did not make the final cut, but the proof is there - Loghain has segments of his own dream sequence in the Circle Tower, for instance.

Oh? Where do you find that in the toolset?

I think it's under "characters". You can find maric and kidcailan there, and they are listed as being part of the fade nightmares.

Yes, that's what I would think Loghain's nightmare would be. Him coming to face with his friend Maric.

Damn, I wish they didn't cut this. I would have loved to see Loghain's reactions to our choices throughout the game.

Me too. Posted Image

I'm brainstorming how to work it into my mod.

Unexpected? Hardly.

All Dragon Age discussions eventually go back to Loghain. This one might have a little too early though.

Unintentional, then and it happened in eight posts.

I'm curious, does the toolset give an explanation on why Loghain betrays Queen Rowan's Son who is Cailan. I never understood this given that Loghain and Queen Rowan were in love with each other in the book "The Calling".

Basically he's doing what he thinks is best. There's already multiple threads on his psyche if you want a more in-depth view on it.

Thanks, I was just curious if the toolset said anything on this topic.

Anyone else think that's Gilmore and Mother Mallol from the Human Noble Orign? I hate Howe even more now he tortured them to death.

Holy crap you are so right and yes I know I am late posting this. Have not been on the boards for a bit. Boy am I blind as a bat. I Never caught this even after 10 playthroughs! Posted ImageOH how I now will revel  even more each time Howe dies on my dagger and Loghain is beheaded in front of his daughter.  Specially since I use the ser Gilmore mod on my PC version of DAO. Excuse me I hear the call to go kill the bastards all over again. Posted ImageThat scene above really chaps my asscheeks.

Yeah I didn't see that either the couple of times I was there. Amazing and sad. *pouts*

Just one thing to the chat that followed. I think the most important thing to remember is that in Loghains eyes Cailan and these other leaders of Ferelden who supported Cailan's decisions were about to allow a large amount of armed people from Orlais to come into Ferelden. Inviting them... if you will... to once again overtake and rule Ferelden. This caused Loghain to act from a place of fear... which often gives a person a not so level way of looking at things. I'm not so sure about Howe, perhaps he just tired of his lot in life and felt he deserved more. He must have been different at one point in time because in awakening his children seem to have seen a different side of him.

Hmmm... This brings up a thought that I'd never had before regarding the fade. Can you leave a companion in there and still leave? What happens if you try?

It's the Godwin Law of Dragon Age

But back to the OT, I didn't think Howe took prisoners...

He would have been complicit, however, in the treatment of prisoners in Fort Drakon.  He personally approached Jowan in prison in Denerim, and that is an NPC from an origin story, so the timeline is simiilar.

You can see it that way.
I see it as Loghain turning a blind eye to what Howe, an ally seen as necessary, is doing. That of course can make him an accomplice, according to perspective. In the context I see Loghain in, I do not view him as an accomplice in those particular acts.

Loghain reminds me of MacBeth.  A man, who in following his ambition (to be king) slowly loses his humanity.  You can see him slip down the slope, one ugly deed at a time. Turn a blind eye to Howe's dastardly deeds.  Hire an assasain to finish off the Wardens who didn't die through his treachery.  Sell some of his subjects into slavery to finance his desire to rule Ferelden...until finally, you can see him actually contemplating sacrificing his only child to further his cause for the throne.....(don't know that he would have, but you can see it becoming possible for him).   In the end of MacBeth, he can't cry for his dead wife whom he loved very much.  Ambition had eaten away every other emotion.  I think Loghain was well on his way to that point as well.

What I find odd about this is: Months have passed since Howe's rampage at Highever. Were Mallol and Gilmore kept and tortured at FD for all this time? Doubtful. And whatever for? I think it's Bioware being sloppy with their few models again.

It's unlikely they just happened to use two from the same origin. One that had your castle being attacked by a major supporter of Loghain. As for why they'd torture them, I'd imagine for false confessions about the Couslands so called treachery.

The toolset specifically lists it as them. [or their heads, specifically]

My guess as to why it is not referred to is that it is leftover from the unfinished version when you could do Denerim in the beginning of the game [as Morrigan suggests] and immediately replace Alistair with Loghain, if you wish.

Obviously that did not make the final cut, but the proof is there - Loghain has segments of his own dream sequence in the Circle Tower, for instance.

God, I wish that option had made it into the game. To have Loghain around for the entire game.... badass comments, heartbreaking moments, enlightening conversations (The man is witty, smart and has a sense of humor so unlike Alistair's)....ah, and Simon Templeman's voice to sweeten the deal.... DAMN. As it is, the whole Loghain thing feels rushed, if you use the best options, you can gain 40 approval in the very FIRST conversation and he respects and trust you ASAP, so out of character. I'd have liked a personal quest for him at least. More RTO content. A romance. More memories of "The Stolen Throne". Just...more!

Oooh, I will have to do that! I'm working on a little somethin'-somethin' like that myself with a city elf (partly because everybody says a city elf would never be able to spare Loghain, so I consider it a challenge. Posted Image ).

*clears throat* Okay, everyone can return to their normally scheduled thread discussion, already in progress... Posted Image
