Quite. I think we've hit the part where we descend into personal attacks. It may be time to abandon ship. -gets in rowboat and rows to safety-

Well before that happens at least let me say that this whole thing has inspired me to spare Loghain this time around. It might be just the once, who knows, but it's a start. Thank you all. :)

The only good thing so far is seeing the David Xanatos Badass video. I am now rewatching Gargoyles online, now that was a good cartoon.

Okay, before this thread dies, how good is Gargoyles? I thought it was a kid's cartoon?

It's a kids cartoon that even adults can enjoy. Hell, used to watch it on TV in the mess hall when I was stationed in Saudi. And no one would change the channel until it was over.

So it's armed forces approved.B)

I think it's really good. And quite mature. I don't think there is a stereotypical villain that just does it for the lulz. And the plots are usually both entertainign and smart.

Demona (the main antagonist) is, I think, the Gargoyle's version of Magneto and is in many ways a tragic character.
David Xanatos is unlike most antagonists. He's just unique. His own genre.

I'm on a military base at the moment, so that argument is pretty persuasive.^_^

Is it still the same? In other words, in every chowhall the American military occupies, is the most watched channel not CNN or ESPN, but the Cartoon Network?

KOP summed it up thopught. Gargoyles even has a bit of more mature-themed romance as well. It was an excellent series.

I've not seen anybody watch CNN, that's for sure. At the hotel on base, everyone usually watches a movie on one of the free movie channels. I don't think anybody is the Keys watches CNN though lol.

My Dad watched it all the time when me and my sisters watched it. Goliath was awsome, well written, good charachters, action, and Xanatos is flat out one of the best villians ever written.

Funny, Brilliant, Charming, a good father, and hot. Tops any Bond villian ever.

The best way to change your mind about Loghain is to listen to his banter, Wynne/Dog/Sten especially. His dialouge is pretty cool too, really changes what I thought happened. However the Alistairites dont see this, and call him a liar. Read Macbeth, or any really good Shakespearen Epic and you will really appreciate how well done Loghain was done.

You are very tiresome, ser.

I've heard all the Loghain dialogues, read the novels.  I do think Loghain lies to himself, and some of the VO notes even support this (such as when he tells the PC he would have saved Cailan if he could have), and hence lies to others, too.  I see him as a tragic figure.  I like him as a young character, and like the Maric-Loghain friendship.  None of this changes my opinion of what Loghain has become in DAO time, however.  I've never had any qualms about cutting his head off.

^ This.  As a player, I like Loghain.  I find his life to be very tragic, and while I think he deludes himself, I understand his motivations.  But I have tons more info that my PC does not.

@Giggles:  What I am finding with your comments, and I could be wrong, is that you don't seem to think the PC can have any reason for wanting Loghain executed other than just following what Alistair wants.  If that is not the impression you are trying to give, then something has gone wrong somewhere.

I wouldn't even qualify him as a villain (well I rarely use that words anyways). He is just sometimes an enemy to the Gargoyles. Sometimes an ally. Sometimes almost a friend.

He was my role model growing up really.

No I feel that PC's can have as good a reason for killing Loghain as Alistair (mainly city elf). Sorry If I come off to strong but politics is one of my favourite topics and I always go overboard on it. Since I manily play male charachters I fail to really forge a bond with Alistair, and I find his whole "I want to be king to kill Loghain" line sick.  And to be presice I do not hate Alistair, he is just an average charachter to me. My sister went from loving him, to hating him after her first playthrough. Sad to see her go from loving a game to hating it.

I will say it right here, I apologize for my rants and namecalling. Everyone has their favourite charachter and I shouldnt be so confrontational. Lets just talk about Gargoyles which everyone should at least see once.

If my Warden were to be voiced I want Xanatos to voice him! His voice is just powerful and charismatic, If there were to be voiced roles in the next Dragon Age game I want him to do it, or at least be in it.

Fair enough.  Sometimes, in attempting to defend something we don't say quite what we want/mean to.  I've done it myself.

And yes, Gargoyles was awesome.

I'm not sure if anyone does actually kill Loghain solely because Alistair wants them to but I have seen a lot of arguments to the effect of 'I had to kill Loghain because I couldn't do that to Alistair.' I get that Alistair is angry and maybe even hurt if I choose to spare Loghain even though he makes it clear that I have to choose between them. Just the same, the thought of killing someone solely because I don't want to upset or hurt someone else, no matter how much I care for them...I couldn't do it. I would need a more compelling reason of my own and not everyone offers that up even if they do also have other reasons for their decision.

I lost Alistair in my first run through because I did not know about hardening, or what was going to happen. It hurt to lose a friend and then learn he threw his future away and is some homeless bum now. While DA is an awsome game it is impossible to get an "FULLY" happy ending for everyone.

Fun fact, Goliath in Gargoyles is voiced by Keith David, who voiced James Anderson in Mass Effect 1 and 2. I love his voice!

So technically, we are not that off-topic....

I knew Anderson's voice sounded familiar. I just couldn't place it. Been years since I watched Gargoyles.
