Cards are a simple way to group people together and imply that they are all the same and won't be able to say something new because they just do as the card says. It is also a lie.
Although my sons seem to like to play with monster cards...

I got an argument that could rock this thread. Loghain is completely innocent of any crime or wrong doing.

Wow, such an new and fresh take on it. I don't think I've ever heard that one before.
Meh, go nuts.

Oh my! Discussing Loghain's relative guilt. What a fresh take on things. Why haven't anyone debated that issue before?

We all know Loghain did do those things, but it doesn't matter he's innocent, regardless the evidence(big hint). The answer is also behind the reason you need Alistair alive for the Landsmeet. Can anyone guess what it is?

I'm also peeved he doesn't come back to the group - esp. if you're in a romance with him or are best buds. After all, it *is* a blight and all - that he leaves Fereldan and doesn't even fight in the final battle is just, well, not like Alistair at all.

But he did argue for monster cards. A troll would be a monster.

My only grievance with the way Alistair acts if *he's* spared is that he doesn't act very grey wardeny. After all, it *is* a senior grey warden who makes the suggestion. The PC finally has some guidance in the whole grey warden thing and does what he/she is the best - they need more grey wardens. Alistair can't see it because he had *finally* found a family within the order and just can't let that go. Understandable.
I'm also peeved he doesn't come back to the group - esp. if you're in a romance with him or are best buds. After all, it *is* a blight and all - that he leaves Fereldan and doesn't even fight in the final battle is just, well, not like Alistair at all.
It's been debated for ages, but one of of putting it is probably that Alistair is every bit as disappointed in the PC for his/her actions as the PC may be about Alistair's actions.
I don't think Alistair's actions, when he leaves, are right. But that does not mean I don't understand it. Alistair is a flawed character and that makes him interesting.

What divine right? There isn't such a thing in Ferelden, where kings have to be accepted by the bannorn to be allowed to continue ruling.

I'll save you the trouble. Most people who who frequented this thread at its zenith are Loghain supporters, so you would be preaching to the choir. Costin, KoP, Sarah, Myself, Giggles. Phaonica, and others . . . we all have thoroughly disected Loghain's motives and actions.
Input is always welcome though. No need for the big build-up wit three posts hinting that you have some bombshell. Just articulately and intelligently make your case. It's the mature thing to do. If you can't be articulate or intelligent, then perhaps you should go back under a bridge.

Ah . . . the Divine Right of Kings. I don't think you understand Fereldan's political structure and are applying a model from history to a realm of fantasy. Herr Uhl is right.

There is no such thing as Divine right of Kings in Ferelden, and Loghain isn't King in the first place. The reason you can only make Alistair or Anora monarch is because they are the only ones who can get enough supporters among the nobles at the Landsmeet. The Landsmeet IS about if Loghain was right in declaring himself Regent or guilty of usurpation
But other than that... interesting post.

Not in the traditonal sense, It wouldn't work for plot reasons. Maybe not Divine right, but close to it, Its not condititional, but not absolute because of the Landsmeet, I suppose its how you play. The landsmeet seems to work as an overide to depose of a Monarch. True, if you want to look at in terms of support, you could look at it like that for Anora, but how could Alistair gain support?Few people knew of him, its really just word of mouth. The matter of guilt could still beup for debate, because you can still lose the landsmeet.Xandurpein wrote...

Yes, you can loose it if you're incompetent. What does that prove?
