Well, DA:O was the battle of the 5th of 7 Blights, so there is room for 2 more of those.

But I also like the ideas of going to other continents in Ferelden. Orlais would be interesting, as would a sojourn to Par Vollen and Seheron and the Qunari peoples.

***spoiler***

And of course we still don't know what became of Morrigan and her 'spawn'

Blights happen every few centuries or so. So setting the next game around a blight would mean it wasn't the Dragon age anymore.

If there is no Blight, then there is no point in playing as the GW. Grey Wardens fight Darkspawn. Sure, you went around battling Loghain, and helping the mages, but at the end of the day, you were doing all of that to build an army to fight the Darkspawn.

Whats the excuse for the Grey Wardens to fight Qunari? Because they feel like it?

In most of the epilogues, Awakening included, your PC leaves the Wardens. Personally, I don't really care whether we have a new character or not, but your PC is not bound up with the Grey wardens anymore. Of course, that doesn't necessarily give him a good reason to go fight in DA2, but it doesn't exclude him. Of course, most of the Awakening epilogues say that the Warden's story isn't finished, so I think that we will see him again

Usually, yes. But this time is special. According to Awakenings the next Blight is close.

only  because it takes darkspawn a long time to find the darn old god.
They can get lucky and find it fast.

You still have darkspawn on a rampage in the country, so it's not like your Warden is completely sitting around with his finger up his nose.

There will always be darkspawn but without any leader they stick to the deep roads.

They should really let darkspawn respawn in the deep roads.

The warden's story is finished and I'd like a fresh start with other characters. They can tell many different stories and clinging to the same char would only hurt that imo.

I... at least, partially disagree with this. Like others have commented within this thread I, too, found my character's story in DA:O to be inconclusive with some siginificant, personal, unresolved issues.. I  found the epilogue to even "tease" at some stages towards a continuity of the warden's story using phrases such as, "for now.." and, "at least for a time.." in reference to the warden and these loose ends. In fact, it gave me the impression of a slow build cliffhanger..

With that being said...I do agree that sequels (like countless movies AND games I've watched/played) can "hurt" the story and even more so, the concept and perceptions of the story's main character. But like i said in an earlier post I have every confidence that Bioware have the story telling ability to create a plausible plot to avoid problems of continuity and if they choose otherwise, I believe it will be for the greater good of the storytelling...

imo   I'd like the warden back, what's a title mean, not much, u can be or become what ever or who ever u what to be,  helll he can deal with any issues that come along in a new land an story,   like I said in the past they should make both options available.

Well it depends entirely on the kind of addons we get before the next DA. Ideally I'd like to play my character up to their calling, as far as I'm concerned a happily ever after, off into the sunset ending can't work becasue you seem destined to die in a rather unpleasant way, assassination seems likely since I've been massacring crows by the bucketful, but it's always going to be something of a loose end to me so I'd like my character to be dead before I start a new one.

We can start DA2 with a tutorial of the legendary grey warden dying in the deeps.

Then move on to a new origin.

Then if you ask an NPC about your Grey Warden he or she will mention a decision you made in the first game, and an outcome. If it comes to that, I want my new warden to have several things available to him. I want him to see a huge statue erected in my previous warden's honor with a plaques that he can read. And second, I want my new warden to find his lost tomb, and be able to gain his legendary equipment.

Endorse? not the noun i would've gone with, but whatever dictionary atrocity you prefer i guess

As for the question it's self, i'm either or on the matter, i wouldn't mind importing some of my charecters if the choices carry over properly, but if DA2 looks better and has a more diverse charecter creation process (along with new & exciting origin stories) i'd rather have a fresh new charecter

I believe that there should be an option to import a character, but BioWare has give a decent explanation within the story on why the imported character got nerfed. An imported character retaining all skills, talents/spells and equipment at the end of Origins or during Awakening is overpowered.

If your character in DAO gets scrapped in favor of a new one for DA2, there has to be a way to tie your DAO character's loose ends in the sequel. I want a resolution for my characters. Importing a save should still be there, but it'll only upload the decisions made in DAO

I would really like those ideas. A side mission of seeking the wardens legendary equipment.. They could use this as another avenue for good story telling I think..

That's possibly the only time one of those emotes made me laugh.

I really like the idea of the origins pc getting a mention at the start of the next game, but I'd want my LI to get a mention too unless they sort that out in an addon, that "... at least for a time" I got is still bugging me and I want to know what it means, do they just part ways? Or does one die? Or do they both die? It's going to keep nagging at me until I know. If it's just referring to the fact that they wheren't together during Awakening that wouldn't really satisfy me, I'm hungry for closure.

I played mass effect 2 by importing my Shepard and he wasn't in lvl 50 ish with 100,000,000 credit at the beginning of ME2. The point here is that BioWare can make up a story about how you lost your money & lvl, so the whole character will be overpowered point doesn't count. Plus BioWare stated that romances will continue in some game title in the future, whether is an expansion (unlikely it seems) or a sequel. So BioWare must endorse my city elf of I will get angry:pinched:

Personally I'd like to see them tie up whatever loose ends can be tied in an expansion and put the DA:O characters to bed starting DA 2 with a whole new cast of characters other than an occasional cameo appearance by a few if the new timeline allows it.

De-leveling your current characters doesn't sound like a good option to me regardless of what reasons they come up with to do so - since much of what they are is defined at least in part by their skills and talents.

On the other hand keeping them at the levels they would finish DA:O plus any DLC and expansions at would call for just plain silliness when it comes to populating the world with enemies that offered them any sort of challenge and would mean that any "normal" population in the world would be totally powerless against such foes.

Mostly such a campaign would be similar to epic campaigns in D&D with level 40+ characters which for the most part fail in CRPGs.

New story new characters - same basic setting (with new areas of course) and start at level 1 would be my preference.

Hmmm... it's been decades since I was in any english grammar classes but if memory serves (and it often does not) the word "endorse" is used as a verb in this sentence and I am having a hard time thinking of an instance where it might serve as a noun at all without changing it to a similar word like "endorsement"...

Just sayin"...Posted Image

No , limits the game too much , i'd prefer a complete new story . Plus starting at high levels doesnt really work and i'm not sure we can have another game were i've lost my memory :) .

basically i agree with wanderon who posted above me.

were drained of our power by the maker himself and sent to spread the word of the chant.

But the problem is were in the qunari homeland and we all know what they are sort of like.
