I wouldnt be at all surprised if Ronaldo got sent off, he is stupid enough to do something petulant. I cant believe he is captain too, making the one person in your team who doesnt track back and plays purely for himself seems like a strange choice for captain.

Yeah other than for the fact he is such a talisman...it is an odd 'footballing' choice.

I dont think forwards should ever be captain. My captain in high school wasnt the best player, he played defender and still wasnt the best one but got respect. we all actually voted for him. We only allowed one goal all season.

I still laugh when I remember the champions league final when Drogba got sent off, Vidic squared up to him and he crapped himself.

HTTP I dont mind forwards being captain as long as they are good leaders or lead by example. Cantona was a great captain for us, Batistuta was another who lead his team from the front. The problem I have with Ronaldo is that he doesnt play for the team and giving him the captaincy just feels like its indulging his massive ego even more. I dont know how anyone respects a player who doesnt track back and acts like a child when things dont go his way.

*the pain travelled to my head.. it's a travelling pain.. and it's eating my brain!*

"Óh Cristiano, Óh Cristiano, se achar um craque é o seu maior engano!"
(if you think you're an ace, that is your biggest mistake)

How do you say "mascarado" in English? that's all that CR is!

Cristiano does give forwards a bad name and soccer players IMO. I cant stand watching him, he's a much better whiner and actor on the field than he is a soccer player.

Also a lot of respectable women I know are just in love with him. haha, a real reason to hate him even more.

It means "masked" but in football slang, it means a player that thinks that he's better than he really is. We also use "high heels" for that. And CR surely looks like he is on "high heels".

Have you seen him acting? He is terrible at it.

I dont think any woman loves him as much as he loves himself. He looks like he would be sticky and greasey to touch I dunno why they like him so much.

Agreed Rage you cannot imagine how much I hated him when he played for us. No one in the UK media would point out his flaws either. Only on the Irish stations did they question him but it was always shouted down with "he scored over 40 goals". Well I would score over 40 goals if I was played on the wing but didnt have to ever stay wide, track back, tackle, cross or pass and was allowed to shoot every time I got the ball. He was played in a position he was hard to mark and never had to do anything but score. Our whole team had to change to help him.

See, same thing happened to Rivaldo. He was such a great player up to the moment that FIFA declared him "best of the world" in some year back there. That's not the problem. The problem is that they really believe it and stop playing like the poor kids that experience hunger in childhood and found in football a way to the top. They loose their humility and that was some important part in what made them play good.

No idea if CR had a poor childhood but all the worse if he didn't.

Isnt Rivaldo still playing? He was brilliant for a while. Better than Ronaldo is now.

Not sure if he had a bad childhood, I know is dad died but I'm not sure when. When he played for us there was an incident in training were Ruud Van Nistleroy left him in tears after an argument he said to him "run to your daddy now" meaning Quieroz and Ronaldo broke down in tears. Van Nistleroy was sold after that. Was no point having him anyway when we had a winger who never crossed the ball.

Thats another thing that annoyed me people talking last season about how Rooney had improved his heading. No he did not!! He was no longer being played on the wing to cover for Ronaldo's refusal to track back and he was playing with a winger who crossed the ball in Antonio Valencia ofcourse he was going to score more headers. Its common sense.

Boring game!

the BALL is problematic. I think the lack of Interest in the Matches is because of the Ball, the Horns (vuvus) and Rainy Cold Air.

I didn't see a good Passing in the Match, especially the long passes were worse

Can't blame it all ont the ball Adriano...these are supposed to be professional footballers, they should be able to play with a cabbage, never mind a new ball.

Terrible WC so far imo, lets hope the second round of group games when teams cant afford to draw makes for more interesting viewing.

I dont like all this talk of the ball. Apparently they have been using it in the Bundesliga since Febuary surely it wouldnt be hard for everyone else to get one to practice with.

I played a game using the ball from the 2002 World Cup it was a bit mental it was really light and took a bit of adjustment to strike properly. But we were amature players playing in a local tournament it took us around 10 minutes to adjust to the ball. How can a professional not adjust to it when they have had weeks to practice with it?

The ball is just an excuse that too many people are happy to use.
