No, Italy has an eagle or arrow formation, what I am referring to is the reliance on opposite mistake to generate a play based on sheer luck
You mean sitting back, soaking up the pressure with no real intention of attacking until the other team make a mistake and let them in for a lucky goal?

Nah, that's more famous for Italy. The so-called "catenaccio". One attacker, all others in defensive stance. Give goal and make a bunker.Fexelea wrote...
Ok, I'm calling it, this is gonna be one of those matches where you see a lot of triangulation by Mexico, good passes and teamwork, and SA scores with the one-man-running-alone counter![]()

What I mean is visible in field right now: 6 players in a straight line as "defense" not marks, just a rake. Two middle man more than 10 meters into defense zone, and attackers mehind mid line

That tactic is becoming all too common these days. Teams go out to not lose instead of going out to win.
Bloody hell bet he closed his eyes before going for that header.

It was. By a pair of centimeters I believe. Even the scorer has accepted quickly the referee's idea. Normally they would scream like hell. Or if Italians, they wouldn't blame the team's inferiority, but rather the other team's superiority. Italy never play badly. It's the others that play better!Fexelea wrote...

Mexico has one major problem in the current match. They toutch well but they don't shoot! You can't score if you don't shoot! And this new ball is a terror for goalkeepers. Too light, changes direction fast. Goot shoot the fraking ball! Pard my French. I have no idea if it is shoot or kick. Not my language. Neither is Spanish but... Arriba, arriba, arriba, vamos Mexico!
In time: the offside was well called.
Its shoot you got it right
I remember playing with the ball they used in the 2002 world cup and it was a nightmare to play with, if you hit it with any power it it just went up and up. I remember having to take my corners without a run up to make sure I didnt put it out for a throw in on the other side. These new balls can be as bad for strikers as goalkeepers.

Then again it's good for the whole world cup if the host does well, as far as I know the host team always progressed in all previous world cups.
